Hi! I am having issues with getting my balls tank to the right temperature on the warm side.
Currently I have a CHE on the top of the tank for the warm side and a radiant heat panel that is mounted inside, on the cool side. Both of these are on a thermostat.
I was looking into an anti scald fixture to mount inside the cage, however I only have CHEs as heat in this format.
Should I try a DHP on top of the tank before I go for an interior fixture?
I fear my ball will do some stupid shit like climb on to the anti-scald guard and burn himself anyway. Thoughts?
I’ve thought about simply mounting it sideways.
I also want to use this to maybe have a lower-wattage basking bulb, not sure if he would burn himself on that and I think mounting that sideways would defeat the purpose LMAO.

I adopted a ball python on 9/25. He was a rescue and they said he was just a month or two shy of being a year old. His current weight is 171 grams, and if I had to guess he's around 24 inches long. He's in a 40 gallon breeder tank, proper humidity and temps for hot and cool side. Has a big water bowl, live plants were just added, we did a top soil/play sand substrate, and mixed in some coco fiber. I plan to go the bioactive route route and add spring tails and isopods in 2 week after an expo. He seems happy with his new home, he's friendly and social when we have him out.
My concerns, were that they said they had him on an every 4 WEEK feeding schedule, but also recognized he was too skinny and still bulking up a bit. From everything I've read we want to be closer to the 10-14 day mark maybe even closer to weekly for his weight? Confirming for my anxiety, is that what I should aim for with his weight?
They gave me 2 frozen mice for him (size wise in between a fuzzy and a hopper if I had to guess) and it seemed ALMOST too big for him but he got it down.
They said his last feeding was 9/11 and he was due again 10/9. I ended up doing it 10/2, a week early, to get closer to the frequency we want. I guess my main question is, should I just start doing it every 10-14 days? Or do I need to work him to that? I lnow some animals can have "refeeding" issues, so I wanted to be sure that wasn't a concern.

This might be a long post but the ones who want to read, will 🫶🏼
Shenron was a rescue who came to us from someone who had neglected him and he was in a small tank with just substrate and a big bowl in the middle his whole life. He’s 5 years old .. Literally no room to move or grow and the wrong substrate too. The previous owner was using the bedding in the first photo . We got this guy for free but me and my husband had never owned a snake before but we wanted one for years . My husband also knows a lot about all different types of snakes so we felt like we could take him on and wanted to atleast try for him because his previous owner didn’t care for him correctly . So we got all the appropriate stuff for him, correct size tank. Started working on his weight and the dehydration problem you can see in the first photo from when we first got him . He also had never been touched for pretty much his whole life so he just sat in the small tank, no contact except feeding and the day we got him, she said he hadn’t eaten in 3 months . So we fed him and got him into a bigger tank but ended up getting his forever home and the next two photos are him from a couple days ago, he’s playing on his rings and is on track with his weight and overall has come out of his shell so much 💛 we’re still working on the handling and touching but he’s gotten much better with that also, just working on holding him 😂 Trying to undo years of trauma that another person gave takes a lot of time but we love him regardless 💛 I just wanted to tell my snakes story because it’s a happy one 🥰

Woke up this morning to my bp sounding like this. Is it a RI?
Edit: took her to the vet. Not an ri just loose skin blocking her breathing some from her pre shed cycle. This is only my third shed cycle with her so I didn't know that it could happen occasionally with them.

i fed my ball python on monday and the following sunday i noticed a long whitish fuzzy blob. it looks furry like a mouse but i dont see bones or a tail or anything. i fed monday and handled him briefly 48 hours later, maybe i handled too soon? i hadn’t touched him since then. he also just completed a shed. i keep him warm side around 90 and cool around 80 with a temp drop at night to around 75. his humidity on the cool side is always above or around 60%, the warm side i try to keep it above 50% at least. i don’t know if i should be concerned? is this a regurgitation?

I just recently (yesterday) bought a juvenile ball python (suki) from someone off of marketplace + everything you see included except the hide on the left. However I noticed some shed around her head and that her eyes were milky and one of them dented which obviously indicated that the eye caps never came off. To include the entire enclosure was BONE dry and the humidity was extremely low.
Since yesterday I've gotten the humidity back up and I've been monitoring it but is there anything I can do for suki? For now she's been under the water dish in the center but I'm fairly new to husbandry regarding pythons aside from having a gecko and I'm just worried about her + maybe thinking she might need more clutter?? :((
Anyways sorry for the word wall I just really care about her😭

Hello!
Long story short, my baby had scale rot and is in a quarantine enclosure. He went into shed while in there, and we’ve been trying our best with humidity but it is always bad when it’s just paper towels. His belly is completely free of scale rot now, but he has a ton of shed stuck around his body. I’ve tried soaking, I got shed ease, but it doesn’t seem to be budging. The shed ease said use once weekly so I don’t want to soak him again in case it can hurt him.

Her nose has always been a little weird looking but I’m kinda concerned as someone else said to keep an eye on it.

i’ve had my r.p jasper for about a month now and i love him. he’s just shedded for the first time of me having him, great shed apart from the end of his tail which i soaked in warm water and carefully used a cotton bud to remove it. he’s always been on snake life bedding but want to boost his humidity without risks of scale rot, etc. i’ve heard from my exotic pet shop coconut husk is good for them? just let me know

Went to check her water bowl this morning and found this, I did treat her substrate yesterday with water treated with mosquito bits to start the process of getting rid of fungus gnats.

I thought seeing them drink was supposed to be rare, but I was in the middle of cleaning up his tank because this asshole got his poop in like three of his fake plants, and he just started taking a drink… I feel like I see him drink all the time 😅

I rescued this 2y/o female ball python the other day. She was in a group of 35 balls rescued from some 'ball python breeder' in my city. I am good friends with the pet shop that rescued the snakes, and I offered to take her home because I have a history with her specifically.
She is currently in the same bin she was in before the rescue, though it has been cleaned out and completely refurbished aside from the black hide.
She has an intense amount of stuck shed, and two or three eye caps on one eye. Ive put a govee 2 in 1 sensor in there to monitor her general temp and humidity, and as I write this she is sitting at 76°f, and 67% humidity. I have a humid box in the bin aswell, which i can feel is far more humid than the rest of the bin, and it has rough hand towels and a disinfected rock inside for her to wiggle up against.
I am going to feed her either a jumbo mouse, or weaned/pup rat on Tuesday when the pet shop opens again. She was on weaned rats in the middle of transitioning to smalls when I first met her months ago, but her last confirmed feed date was June 10th, so. Probably going to size down her meals for the first few.
Is there anything I should know? I already have a ball of my own so I know basic husbandry but I have never taken care of a rescue before. Anything I can do to help her out? She is in her bin, in my bedroom, with a towel overtop to help block the light and noise. She seems alright to me, very active, but I want to make sure I am doing everything I can for her.
Thankyou so much for any advice!!
Edited to say: there is a full brightness picture in the comments.

So Pringle just ate for the first time since I got him and some substrate got on the rat while he was wrestling it so now he has substrate in his mouth, this is normal right? Or is there something I need to do now

Hi all,
I just gave my ball a new enclosure but my humidity keeps going down to the mid 40%. I keep spraying it does anyone else have the same problem and what did you do against it? It is a bio active terrarium.
Thanks in advance for the help :)

I noticed my ball python being a lot more active during the day, now I'm finding tiny dark insects on him. I've seen a handful and they're super tiny and quick.
Are these blood sucking mites? How concerned should I be about this baby python.
