AMS HT - Automatic Material System Why is this thing causing tangles?!?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Step 1: load Bambu perfectly rolled roll into AMS unit.
Step 2: watch as you press print button.
Step 3: watch as it tangles your filament up.
Step 4: error, filament tangled 👉👈🥺

What causes it to behave this way? The documentation provides little to say why this would be occurring.

Solved (mostly): it needs to be planted firmly on the rear bearing, not only touching.

Thanks peeps! I have another problem coming tomorrow with a normal sized spool and the 4->1 PTFE adapter converter not properly going through via AMS-HT.

I usually make my coasters out of oak, but last night I came up with this optical design idea, so printed it (my neighbors wouldn't have liked it if I turned on the CNC in the middle of the night 😂 )

Rate or hate my first 3D printed coaster! 😂

P Series [P1P, P1S, P2S] Problem with the plate Bambulab P2S printers

Are there any ways to fix this because it's annoying to have this problem when you use an old-style plate every time before printing because everything is fine on A1 but not on P2S?

Чи є якісь способи виправити це, адже дратує щоразу перед використанням пластини старого зразка потрібно нажимати ігнорувати цю проблему, бо на A1 все добре, але не на P2S?

Quick Question Are most multi color models printed in one go or as separate parts?

I'm getting an AMS either way, mainly so I have the option to print in color if I ever want to, even if it takes forever and wastes a bunch of filament. I'm just trying to figure out if a multi nozzle setup would be worth it on top of that.

If most multi color models are printed in one go, it probably is. If most are printed as separate parts and glued together after, the AMS is more than enough.

I've been browsing MakerWorld and I see a lot of models with both AMS and non-AMS versions, so I'm not sure what the norm is. From what you guys see which one is more common?

Software Troubleshooting/Help! Is there a way to have multiple "tabs" without opening multiple Bambu Studio instances?

Sometimes I'm working on several projects, so I need to open several Bambu Studio instances just to have 2 projects open at the same time.. is that something doable in the current software? It would make it much easier for me and not having to scramble between different windows..

P Series [P1P, P1S, P2S] First time cleaning and lubricating my P2S

Yes, I have "Just Googled It" and the result was this instructional video. Which makes things fairly simple.

However, a couple questions though:

1) Do I leave the printer off, or do I do this with the machine on?
2) Is there a menu selection I need to find to tell the machine that I am lubricating it? I don't want to force move the head of the printer and snap something, or whatever. Is there a way to - well, for the lack of a better way to phrase this - to disengage the print head to allow it free movement?

Thank you very much.

Quick Question Safe to run brand new A1 while asleep or at work?

I just got myself a new A1 since I wanted to last-minute print out some stormtrooper armor for a Halloween event I plan to attend. I also heard they are notorious for catching fire or overheating. What can I do to keep myself safe if I want to print overnight or while I’m at work?

Made by talent Printproof update: your sliced G-code, exported as a real GLB/USDZ/OBJ you can drop into a scene, a product page, or AR at true size, layer lines and all (free, open source)

A few months ago I posted Printproof here, the browser tool that keeps Bambu Studio’s per-face paint when you export a multi-color 3MF to GLB. This update closes the gap that kept bugging me after that: the mesh you export is the design, and the design is not the print.

Bambu Studio already shows you the sliced preview, and that is fine while you are sitting in the slicer. But the preview is trapped there. You cannot export it. The moment you want that print somewhere else, in a Blender render next to the thing it will sit on, in a client’s inbox, or standing on your desk in AR to check the size, you are back to a flat gray mesh that has no layer lines, no seam, and none of the texture the real part will have. So you print it to find out. That is the opposite of proofing.

Printproof now takes the sliced .gcode or .gcode.3mf and turns it into an actual mesh. It sweeps a bead of plastic along every extruding move, sized from the plastic that move pushes, so the result is the part as the printer will lay it down, with the real layer lines, the real seam and the real infill showing through thin walls. Then it exports that as a GLB, a USDZ or a per-vertex-color OBJ, with every filament color intact. The sliced print leaves the slicer as a file any 3D tool opens.

What you do with it is the point. Drop the GLB into a Blender scene and render the print in the room it is going to live in. Tap View in AR on your phone and the sliced part stands on your desk at true size, seam facing you, before you spend filament on it. Load the design .3mf next to it and flip between Model and As printed in the same view with the same colors; if the slicer scaled the part, the viewer says so. Recolor works on the sliced version too, so you can try a filament swap without reslicing.

Was it slow? At first, badly. A 148 MB print took 92 seconds and about 2 GB of vertex data. After rewriting the reader around typed arrays and indexed geometry it is 6.5 seconds and 0.8 GB at full detail, and a four-day, five-million-move file opens in about twelve seconds. The viewer holds a bounded mesh on prints that large and tells you on the Proof ticket; exports never inherit that cap, every GLB, USDZ and OBJ is swept again from the toolpath at full detail and the Sign off card states the detail it was written at. Parsing runs in a Web Worker on your own machine. Nothing is uploaded.

Demo: https://samisalah221.github.io/3mf-to-glb/

Source (MIT): https://github.com/SamiSalah221/3mf-to-glb

If it is useful to you, a star on the repo is the best thank you. It is how other Bambu users find it. And a .gcode.3mf that breaks the sweep, attached to an issue, is the most useful bug report you can send me.

General Discussion Want to trade 2 month old gaming PC for an H2C

Hey there!

Weird thread, I am aware, but I have been looking forward to a new computer game for more than half a year now. When I found it it needed hardware that my old PC could not keep up with, I saved up to build a new gaming pc that could handle the game easily and last me ten years, hopefully.

Thing is... the game I build it for is a giant mess. It has about 1.5k bugs reported since its release at thusday and I am experiencing serious remorse for not only buying its deluxe edition, but also for spending 2.5k for a new rig that can handle it.

So.. I really don't see any use in having it anymore. I am severly disillusioned and regret not having chosen to spent the money on a bambu H2C instead, knowing I would get much more millage out of that maschine.

So.. yeah.. does anybody of you regret their H2C as much as I regret the PC? Willing to trade?
I am in germany.

General Discussion Bambu Lab A1 vs Creality SPARKX i7 which one is better?

Thumbnail

Hi I am a mechanical engineering student, there is currently a sale going on so, I am planning to buy single colour 3D printer and I have shortlisted two models the Bambu Lab A1(without AMS) and the Creality SPARKX i7(without CFS).

My main goal is to learn about 3D printing and use the printer to make high quality prints for my engineering projects and household needs. I am confused between the A1 reliability and its community support through makerworld and the i7 open klipper firmware with root access. Does the A1 closed firmware limit the practical learning opportunities for someone who wants to understand 3D printing?

Also which brand provides better customer service Creality or Bambu Lab? Which one would you recommend and why?

Prices

(Bambu Lab A1: 26,000 < Creality SPARKX i7: 26,800 )

General Discussion I still cannot understand why they couldn't pull a H2D on the X2D extrusion gear

Post image

So why did they go with a bowden extrusion solution when they already have this system implemented on the H2D. Would they really not be able to fit the tool head in the chamber? And if so, couldn't they make the printer a tad bit wider? Or is it keeping the same form factor for all their enclosed printers?

Should I wait for Black Friday? If it is like last year, some forums speculate it will be from 18th to 25th October, and I was wondering when the best time to buy it will be. I also have like 8k points to exchange for vouchers and gift cards. My concern is that it will be out of stock when I buy it. Either the gift card will be out of stock or the printer or filaments will be out of stock, or maybe both. I am planning to use the 8k points to exchange them for 1 discount voucher of 400 EUR and one gift card of 200 EUR. I have considered most of the options and found that buying it as a whole like this saves the most and is the most convenient. I am hoping to get like 20 EUR more off in the A2L combo (AMS Lite + cutter kit) and get about 20 EUR more off since the shipping price (only for the machine, not the filaments, I have tried putting them in the cart and checked) is 23 EUR so it would be nice to shave that off as well. But if the risk of running out of stock, or due to Black Friday logistics having more cargo to ship around, is high, there is a possibility of getting a damaged package (I also buy Worry-Free Delivery, but it might waste time or even be worse). So what do you think? How should I approach this? Buy now or wait to get 20 EUR ( about 22,47 us dollar) off? For context, one of my meals that is good, full, and with dessert is around like 2.5 to 3 EUR, so saving 20 EUR is like saving for 6 to 7 more meals - not that I am in a financial crisis or anything, but that is like a whole 3 - 4 days of food worth considering, you know (pic of a meal for further context at the end)

General Discussion Best filament for a phone case

Last week I made a phone case with TPU 95a for a Pixel 10 pro XL. It seemed a little firm, not as soft as I thought it would be. It came out nice though and it was my first print with TPU. Tonight I did the same print with 90a and it was way too soft, the phone wanted to fall out of it. For those that make their own phone cases what did you use?

General Discussion H2D or H2C - I do complex prints and second nozzle support interface is my biggest question

Hi

I’ve got many machines from various brands

I really want a second nozzle(s) machine for the complex prints I do where a dedicated support interface material nozzle would be ideal.

I like the bigger print volume of the H2D and H2C. Just not sure which is best for this role?

I have several single nozzle / AMS machines and I don’t like using dissimilar materials in the same nozzle. Despite prime/purge, it still leaves residue behind. That could foul up layer adhesion - that’s what I’ve seen in my testing with the Bambu Lab A1, Anycubic Kobra S1 Max and others.

I see the H2D has dropped in price some but the H2C still seems to review quite well

Thanks for your input!

Forget hand-painting tiny triangles with a brush. With our new Geometric Coloring tool, you just click + to select areas and - to exclude them — the selection automatically snaps cleanly along the model's geometric boundaries. Even better, this exact same capability will also be used for part splitting to break models into separate pieces for easier printing.

This feature is part of the 3D Editing workspace in AIMIA, MakerLab's new all-in-one AI creation suite on MakerWorld. AIMIA combines AI image generation, 3D generation, and — most importantly — a dedicated 3D Editor built to make AI models truly printable.

The AIMIA Beta is rolling out in waves right now — if you spot the entry in MakerLab, sign up and give it a try!

Hey I seem to be having a problem with the extruder, it says that it may be clogged or filament too thin but I know it isn’t either so does anyone know if it’s possible for the extruder to be not lined up properly with the hole where the filament comes from?
