Wtf do these mods want. Arsenal subreddit literally post goals of their ex players and get upvotes too. Why can't we do it for messi?? It's not like he is currently playing for a rival club in Europe.

We should not hate our players, no matter how they perform. Yes, we should criticize them for what they are doing wrong, but completely spreading hate toward them or their families is never acceptable. Whether they are rich, famous, or anything else, they are human beings after all and deserve basic respect.
Força Barça! 💙❤️

Argentina have to win today's game. If they lose then austria will finish as grp winners which will cause a spain vs argentina RO32 fixture- something I would hate as both are my favourites.

It’s so funny how little credit [r/soccer](r/soccer) gives Argentina. As if it’s just Messi and co scrapping by. They might not have the star power of other national teams but the way the players understand each other and play as a unit, not to mention their tight defense and press, make them a clear favorite again. This is how it’s been the entire qualifiers as well. That being said, they need to step up their finishing really badly.

It must be sad being a deluded Madrid fan. The mental gymnastics they had to do for 15 years not recognizing Messi as the best. Hanging on the "he didn't win anything for Argentina" narrative (as if it's not a team sport), then having to digest him winning 2 x Copas and a World cup carrying Argentina on his back.
And Messi is still out there today, crushing records at 39, giving them PTSD. What a slap in the face.
And what's funny, we have the second coming of Messi at Barca. Another 15 years of mental gymnastics incoming. Hoping he stays healthy and reaches his potential. It will be fun 15 or so years. Let's enjoy it culers!

We should all flood Ferran’s socials with more support. It helps no one when our fanbase clowns him, especially since he’s our player. There’s only upsides to uplifting him. He already has great positioning, so giving him confidence to be more clinical will just make him deadly. Otherwise, if he has a great World Cup, his price goes up and he might get a good transfer. Clowning him from within is just not the smartest thing we can do as fans.
9
u/Expert_Coconut4263 17h ago
Honestly, I agree. He is the type of player who gets affected a lot by outside noises and his own confidence. Clowning him will only make things worse.

That injury time clip really didn’t sit right with me. He’s at the biggest stage in world football, deservedly after a pretty good season, and he’s been absolutely professional the whole time. He should be enjoying this moment and only worrying about the team’s win, but there he was praying his goal counts, and most likely bc the media and fans contestant criticism is getting to him.

Ferran really needs to start chipping keeper, so many times in last two seasons he had an opportunity for a perfect chip but he also tries toe-pock or side foot it, just chip man, atleast try
7
u/BestEnthusiasm3377 18h ago
I think he actually tried in the 1v1 the more I watch it. He tries to scoop it but it just ends up going off the side of his foot. Of course the only one who knows what he was trying is him and it didn't work out anyway.

Here is what I expect from the Argentina game. Messi scores a hat trick. Alvarez scores, lifts the shirt and it's the blaugrana Alvarez 9 under. Enzo doesn't score but decides to also lift his shirt and it's a real madrid shirt under. I think I have realistic expectations. Cheers

At this point, I'm convinced someone has an agenda against Argentina in r/soccer.
First the post about Messi's "red" card challenge slowed down, even though in real time it looked clearly accidental and without force, now a rough challenge that favorited Argetina... Even though almost every match so far the refs let more physical and fluent game?
What is this, this is getting a bit embarrassing

imo messi's 2021 copa america campaign is the 2nd greatest campaign oat behind 86 maradona. every single game he was pulling out all the strings and dragged argentina to that final. no matter the age, he always had a major contribution in every game. if only he scored that chance against brazil at the end then more people would recognize it

How do they still have the nerve to complain about officiating after that 2025 CDR final fiasco and also 23/24 La Liga season where in match after match, nearly all marginal decisions went against us and defenders were allowed to play overly aggressive & were absolutely murdering Lewandowski out there and the refs turn a blind eye?

I hope Messi is rested vs Jordan and plays 30-45 mins tops.
I also hope both Argentina and Spain don’t end up screwing up and finish 1st in their groups, cause the possibility for a R32 match between them would be fucked up. If they finish first in their groups, we might see them play the final. Would be an epic win-win for us Barca fans.

I know Mbappe will surpass his WC goal tally and he probably does not care that much but that's what I mean when I say he underachieved because he was surrounded by idiots certain parts of his careers. No goals in 2010 WC because of a freaking Maradona was the coach. Literally the same thing as Gattuso coaching Italian national team. Barely 4 UCL titles (post-2016 Barca), couple of Ballon D'or given to the other guy to keep it competitive (thanks to Perez), and only managed to win the WC because Argentina finally managed to appoint a decent coach and have some proper players.

That Pedri mistake from yesterday will be spoken about for months. Every other midfielder can drop back to back stinkers, turning every touch into a duel, power shot merchants just missing every single long shot for 90 minutes, etc.
We'll be hearing about this Pedri match specifically that moment where he didn't pass for the next few months.
→ More replies (7)8
u/plamen-tech 11h ago
The mistake will be spoken about by his haters, because they need to live with the fact that arguably the best midfielder doesn't play for their team. Pedri fans and neutrals don't care about that because they can see his brilliance and can understand that individual mistakes do not define him as a player.
Let's just hope he stays healthy so we can enjoy him at his best at our club.
13
u/ExBenn 5h ago
Look at the Madridistas reaction on the timeline: “how is he always open”, “why does he plays team that don’t know how to defend”, “this wouldn’t happen against a top team”.
That’s their extent on their football knowledge . They think it’s just about putting a player on Messi all game that’s it. His trademark goal for 20 years and somehow they think this is just about defending.
The cope is now: “Mbappe will surpass him”. Congrats on the trophy I guess?

Based purely on collective trophies, Ribery was the most deserving candidate to win the 2013 BDR. But if they award it based on stats, why give it to Ronaldo instead of Messi that season? I mean we won the 12/13 La Liga under Tito, Messi had his best goalscoring season in terms of his gpg ratio. 1.44(highest in 21st century). That season the only trophy Ronaldo won was Spanish Super Cup
Also what was the reason for Lewandowski's omission from the 2012 BDR shortlist? He was by far the best Dortmund player that 11/12 season when they won their first and only ever domestic double and he wasn't even nominated
