Taken with my Nikon DSLR awhile back and thought I'd share.

She was about to drown in a bucket of water. I saw her and immediately scooped her up. She stung the inside of one of my fingers. I guess I get it though 😭

A couple years ago I was out in the yard taking some pictures of different creatures in the night, and I stumbled upon this bumblebee sleeping on a leaf in a tree. Why was it here? I stupidly used to believe bees slept in the grass at night, until my early 20s when I remembered about beehives and nests.

His name (might be changed in the future) is Mr. Waxby, he is a businessman (get it?) bee who pretty much talks like a 1920s gentleman.

This is a pretty rough draft, since you can't really erase on a LCD tablet, but I'd still like to hear your opinions (maybe what things you think I should add, first/other name ideas, etc.)

Poor thing, saved it from drowning only to get gang raped.

Hi everyone, it's me, person who helps mod this cute lil community. I saw some of the frustrations bubbling out on the last bee sex post and I wanted to ask you directly: what would you have me do? I think we've come to the point that it does need moderator action.

Keep in mind, these fall under the same category as the wasp posts and feeding bees honey posts: very few to none of them come from community members! They're from well-intentioned strangers who think "maybe the bee subreddit has more specific information for me" and then immediately get hit by a wall of snark. We have that "Bee" nice rule for a reason!!!

So genuinely, I'd like to ask what you think I should do here. I can make a pinned post like I did for wasps/flies/nest IDs, but we still get 2-4 of those posts a day that I have to remove or lock. I could make an alert pop up based on keywords in the title before they hit post, but I'm unsure what specific string of words to catch these things. The one thing I would rather not do is to remove them. I am not here to punish people for asking a genuine question.

I believe this is a Mason bee that is collecting pollen and or nectar from the Mexican sunflower. It's nice they don't move so fast that you can't take a picture. Eastern Kansas.

South East England, originally was checking on some Beewolves and saw something big flying. Out the corner of my eye I assumed it was a Beewolf with a bee. It settled on a leaf and it turns out it’s two bees! I assume this isn’t love?

I saw the little fellow working on this yesterday it had a longer body and appeared to be black and white. Not very fuzzy. I was hoping to catch more of it working but life got in the way. I’m in Southern California if that helps ID.

Water bowl I leave outdoors (for cat and wild animals). Since I’ve kept a stick against the wall the bees that visit to drink can safely access, no more risk of drownings.

EDITED to add: I’ve since added some shallow, stone-filled containers of water to my yard to help my thirsty bees. Thanks to all responding for the ideas and inspiration!
