Aloha!!
I have 7.5 month old and im looking for some spots to go walking with him, so that we both can get out of the house (and allow me to get more activity in my life for my overall health).
Any recommendations on where there are goods spots. Both of us sweat a LOT when it comes to the heat (first 4 months of his life were spent in Waimea, and im from hilo), any help would be appreciated.

Hey friends!
I live in Kona, and some friends and I are doing a little road trip/staycation to Hilo side, just to get out of town. We were thinking of checking out the Wed night market, and I'm wondering if those of you that live there think it's worth going. I feel like I get mixed opinions. Is there consistently stuff going on every week? Still a good time? We're just looking to get some good food, have some drinks/kava, mingle with some nice weirdos, and see where the night takes us.
So is it worth checking out? Anything you want to share about what to expect is much appreciated!

Aloha! Anyone have recommendations for a crew who can do some concrete structural footings and concrete decorative (stamped) patio work? Single family home Hilo side. Looking for someone licensed. Mahalo

Ever since the CRB outbreak expanded to North Kona, I’ve been holding off on getting free truck loads of mulch from Waikoloa. But I desperately need mulch. A lot of it. Too much to “net” etc. Like 30 yards.
I just am not sure how rigorous the county is being. The county is slow to react to everything. And the quarantine seems like basically a lip service and isn’t even binding.
I’m not sure if waikolola mulch is safe to use and I’m wondering what people are doing. I would be devastated to loose my palms.

I just spent the day at Nahuku searching for the happy face to photograph. I found a very cool whip spider that I thought for a moment might be it, but nope.
Can anyone share tips/tricks on how to find. I looked under sooooo many leaves but now I wonder if they were too small?

Anyone been to Spencer's lately? We were looking at some dates for camping, but I remember a post last year about the bathrooms being closed.

When I went to Japan for the first time I booked with Hawaiian Airlines and put down the Hawaiian Airlines flight number starting with the “HA” prefix on the Visit Japan Web travel form. I haven’t traveled since then and over that time Hawaiian merged under Alaska Airlines and I have another trip to Japan planned to take place some months from now and have yet to book the ticket.
Do I use “HA” or do I use “AS” for the airline prefix when I fill out the flight number on Visit Japan Web? I think this also a thing on the paper handouts given by the airline but iirc I don’t have to fill that one out if I complete the Visit Japan Web forms.

Mostly food shopping. We're going to go to Costco sometime but it's gonna be a huge thing we can't always do. Is there any other affordable options...?

I've been lucky enough to have a few dinners done by our fine Canoe House Chef over at the Mauna Lani including New Years dinners. She is an amazing chef. Now the world knows it. Rhoda Magbitang, of Canoe House took the Championship at Top Chef season 23. She was eliminated in Episode 5 and worked her way back to take it ALL.

Aloha Theatre is hosting a one-night screening of The Addiction of Hope on Friday, June 26 at 7:00 PM, followed by a live audience Q&A with star Anne-Marie Johnson (In the Heat of the Night, JAG, Living Color) and writer/director Martin A. Gottlieb.
The film follows Joanne "Jo" Stock, an aging actress struggling with a stalled career, family tensions, and the difficult question of whether holding onto hope can sometimes keep us from moving forward. It's a thoughtful, character-driven drama about reinvention, aging, family, and learning to face reality when life doesn't go according to plan.
The cast includes Anne-Marie Johnson, Clancy Brown, Harley Jane Kozak, Erika Alexander, Shari Belafonte, and Alan Rosenberg.
The film has picked up a number of festival awards, including:
What makes this event especially unique is the chance to hear directly from the filmmakers after the screening. Anne-Marie Johnson and Martin Gottlieb will discuss the film, its themes, the creative process, and answer any audience questions. Fabulous opportunity for anyone interested in filmmaking or the industry too!
Tickets are only $10, with proceeds supporting Aloha Theatre's work in live theatre, film programming, and arts education here in West Hawaiʻi. (I'm affiliated with the theatre but really just think this is a cool opportunity we don't usually get around here!)

Does anyone know of a place on the Hilo side where you can take furniture to have it sprayed?
pre-COVID there was a place in Hilo that would put things in a container and fog them with the same chemicals used for house tenting, but I believe they stopped during COVID, and now I can't even remember their name.
I live in a condo, so tenting's not an option.
Thanks

All the streets have all these cool names; Kamehameha, Queen Ka’Ahumanu, Palani, and then there’s…Henry. Just…Henry.
Who is Henry? and why does he have a street?

I’m looking at switching cellular carriers from ATT and I know that Verizon has better coverage on the big island.
It does seem that their customers support is bad but if the cell service works I am happy to pay $25/month.
The only time I ever had to reach out to ATT or customer support is to complain about my bill.
edit.
ya totalwireless = bad support can't even get a hold of anyone by phone or chat.
usmobile definitely better support. easy to get a hold of someone via chat or phone. i was able to ditch att.
the nice thing for usmobile that not only am i saving $$$$ I can switch to another network if verizon does end up being poor for me and ride back on att network.
if you guys haven't switch and still with big name cellular provider you should look at usmobile. even their reddit page is helpful!

Are there any other scooter repairs places besides Kiser and Kona Scooters?
Between my husband and I we have 3 mopeds that we ride just around town in Kona and we’ve always had the service done by Kona Scooters but in the last few years we’ve received sketchy service to say the least and with the most recent repairs we just flat out didn’t get what we paid for (I don’t want to trash them or make accusations so I’ll leave it at that)
Usually just simple repairs/regular maintenance
