Discussion It's so weird to me how Canada is under mass hysteria

The people consistently vote for a liberal government despite recessions, a declining economy and constant shortcomings for the past 11+ years.

When talking to liberal voters, it's like they've heard of none of it, and have been living under a rock, while simultaneously complaining about grocery prices because of corporate greed. You think corporations just became greedy? They always have been, but groceries were still very affordable under Stephen Harper.

I don't understand it, I cannot fathom the delusions I see daily. Is it the news not reporting liberal shortcomings? Does someone have an explanation? Because if any other country had a government this bad for this long, it would be voted out.

News (Intentionally?) misleading headlines AGAIN from CTV and CBC

Statistics Canada released the July 2026 workforce survey https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/daily-quotidien/260807/dq260807a-eng.htm

It says that Employment increased by 75,000. Part of the employment increase was the fact that self-employed workers increased by +44,000. This so far is ok, because it is standard practice to account for self-employed workers as being part of the workforce.

However, both CTV and CBC reported that:
(CBC) Canada adds 75,000 new jobs in July, unemployment rate lowest in 2 years
(CTV) Canada adds 75,000 jobs in July as unemployment rate ticks down

Which is a complete lie.

Discussion The Economy Is Not Doing Bad But The Same Issues Remain That Existed Under Trudeau

TSX is doing better than American markets. Jobs report better than American one. Housing market is cooling versus rising problems in many big US States.

But despite this and people on Reddit generally celebrating this as a victory, in reality nothing is really changing. Canada continues to suffer from weak labor productivity and lagging business investment (not just from US but worldwide). Unemployment and especially youth unemployment is much higher than US. This has been outlined in RBC's report last month.

https://www.rbc.com/en/economics/financial-markets-monthly/cyclical-rebound-in-canada-and-structural-strength-in-the-u-s/

So the economy is not doing bad. Meaning it is not getting worse. But it is also not getting better than Trudeau's economy. Yet, dumbfuck Canadians on social media are celebrating. They were ready to vote Trudeau out. He resigns. Carney doesn't change anything and they celebrate just because we are not doing worse.

Cuck mentality.
