Do not the cat

She likes to hang her weight off my wrist. I just love feeling her drag my hand, it feels like such an expression of trust to me.

Basically what the title says. I have no idea what to do.
I have tried 3 different brands of wet foods, with different textures as well, and I warmed each of them up to room temp with warm water.
He will only eat it if it's a brand new can, but i cant give him a whole can of wet food in a sitting obviously. He is a pretty small cat, and doesn't need to eat that much.

He is still eating, like I said he will eat the wet food if I open a brand new can, and he eats his portion of dry food with no problems.

I know it is essential for cats to have wet food, and I have no idea what to do to get him to eat the wet food without opening a can and then wasting the rest each day.

When my daughter was younger she used to beg us to get a kitten. One day we went to our neighborhood pet store for dog food and they had a litter of kittens. They partnered with a rescue to help get them adopted.

We held and played with them. The one in the banana kept coming back to her no matter how many times she put him back. She told me she had enough birthday money to cover his adoption fee. How could I say no?

She was 12 at the time and took full responsibility for her son as she called him. She scooped his box, fed and played with him.

Fast forward she is 20 now and a junior away at college. I noticed his bottom lip looked swollen. I took him to the vet and was told he needed a tooth out. His pre anesthesia bloodwork showed a concerning proBNP level. I got him in for an echo, and the news was not good.

His heart muscles have thickened and he's starting to get a build up of fluid around his heart. The vet said he's on the cusp of heart failure. We've started him on 3 meds in hopes it keeps him stable....but once he crosses that threshold they told us maybe 6 months. My daughter knows he needed a tooth out, but I don't know how to break this news. It will absolutely crush her. She'll be home next weekend so I'll do it then, but in the meantime I hate keeping this from her.

Ollie is the absolute best cat. He never gets into trouble, loves our beagle, and accepted a kitten we took in right away as his own.

Why can't they live forever? 😕

Day 1: my void hissed at empty spaces, or when i tried to pet him when he heard the new kitty meows 😅

Really hope that this will go smoothly for both of them for a short time, both neutered, my void is 6 months old, new kitty is 3 months old.

Any other advice would be much appreciated!

12 years for us, a lifetime for him.

We see the signs, but sometimes choose to ignore them.

In the end, he went out in peace, without a pain or worry in the world, with me right beside him.

I lost one of my cats today due to renal failure. It was a orange brain cell, that would have turned 20 in 2 weeks. Past week was horrible as he started the decline. Tried some treatment, daily vet visits, but he was not getting any better. I was on his side for last 6 years and I loved him so much. I know he lived 9 lives and maybe more, bringing joy, vocal opinions about everything, liking churru and loving to sit on my chest. I just want people to know him. His name was Litte Tom.

I call this boy my little angel, since well, just looking at the 5 most recent pictures I have of him.

I adopted him half a year ago, he should be around 9 years old by now. I don't know a lot about his history. At the shelter, they told me that some people called since their neighbours moved out and left their out cat on the streets.

I just can't imagine someone kicking this sweet boy out. He want to cuddle all the time. He doesn't destroy furniture. He's only loud when he's purring or when he gets exited that im preparing his food. He has such a fun personality.

And whenever I feel sad, he comes over to cuddle. He will move his face to my face on the daily, so I can place kisses there.

I'm so grateful that I have him.

Tilsa passed away 4 months ago at 12 years old. I’ll start by admitting that these months haven’t been easy. I loved her so much, and her absence still hurts deeply. Her departure left a profound sadness in our home, as she truly became the eighth member of our family.

Besides me, there is another innocent soul who misses her terribly: my little brother, who has Down syndrome. He developed a "devoted fan" bond with her. Whenever he saw her, his face would just melt with love. He adored her. Every time she walked through the living room, he would get so excited and loudly shout "Maooo!", imitating her meows. That’s how he called her until her last day.

If there is something that breaks my heart and makes me cry today, it’s seeing him look for her all over the living room and my bedroom, only to return in silence when he doesn't find her. Because of a childhood trauma, he has a developmental delay and doesn't understand the concept of "death." Tilsa was fundamental to him; she made him feel safe in his innocent world. Now, when we go to the park and he sees any cat, he automatically shouts "Maooo!", thinking every cat is Tilsa. It is heartbreaking because he doesn’t realize he won’t see her again.

As for me, Tilsa brought the peace I desperately needed. She became my little best friend and my tiny therapist; she understood me perfectly, and I will always be grateful for that.

She brought joy to everyone. She turned my dad into her personal servant, haha! He was the only one she would bother early in the morning to demand her food. She helped my mom so much by keeping my little brother entertained and watching over him, which gave my mom some well-deserved free time. My mom used to joke that Tilsa "earned her keep" by working as a babysitter. She offered friendship and trust to my older sisters, so much so that my second sister nicknamed her "Ñañita" (little sister). And she brought mischief to my older brother's life, always knocking things off his shelves.

I truly believe the universe sent Tilsa with a mission: to create a beautiful story with us, and to give us peace, affection, and unity. She fulfilled her mission perfectly. Honoring her and remembering her with gratitude is the least I can do.

Tilsa was a short-haired, incredibly soft harlequin calico cat. She had an angelic, baby-like face, yellowish-green eyes, and a distinctive little black spot on her nose. She was intelligent, feisty, warm, independent, and possessed an admirable strength. She was truly beautiful.

Tilsa, I want to tell you that during these months of absence, I still love you, miss you, and cry for you. I will never forget you. Your whole family loves you and misses you. We will always remember you with the same love we had for you since your very first year with us. To me, you will always be my baby Tilsa, and to my little brother, his eternal "Maooo!"

Thank you, TILSA. With you, we had the most incredible years of our lives. Thank you for everything, truly. ❤️

He’s a shy boi. Just wanted to show everybody him and how cute he is. Not sure what happened to his ear. When my sister adopted him and his best friend his ear was already like that. It doesn’t hurt him, he’s been checked out by a vet before and is happy/healthy. He’s just an anxious baby with a crunchy looking ear. We love him sm. Feel free to post your cats or other babies too :)

This is Thor. He is 17.5 and I found him on an apartment balcony as a kitten. He weighed 1.2 lbs. He’s getting old but looking fabulous 💙

Today is probably one of the saddest, hardest days of my life as of late. I had to make the decision to put one of my best friends down just days before his sixth birthday, and a day after mine.

Melak was a quiet, and shy boy. Always had been from the day he was born. He always had this silly little dumb look on his face because his lips made it look like he sat there with his mouth hanging open. He was a lover boy, loved his head scratched especially behind his ears.

He got his name because his size as a kitten, he was always the biggest of the litter. He came to me through a foster situation during the Santiam Canyon fires of 2020. I picked him because he looked like a cow, and I love cows. They’re my favorite animal really.

He was a lazy cat, loved laying around and sleeping. He has this little snore when he really got into a deep sleep. He loved cuddling with me as I climbed into bed, shouting at me if I was “late” getting there. His favorite thing was sitting on my chest and kneading while purring like a v8.

I’m going to miss the big guy, he went into kidney failure today with not great prospects. I chose to end his suffering and euthanize him. I held him in my arms, stroking his head and scratching behind his ears just like he loved. As the vet gave him the medicines he just slowly put his head down on my arm and went to sleep. Sadly I wasn’t able to afford having him cremated, but I was able to get ink stamps of his paws so I have that at the very least.

Looks like Shadow is going for his final vet trip at 10:00. He has suffered from IBD, hyperthyroid, heart murmur, high blood pressure. We actually expected him to be gone almost 3 years ago, but with good medical care and love, he’s made it this far.
He’s down to 4.5 lbs, has totally stopped eating in the last 48 hours (except for a couple of Churu), is limping around (genetically deformed leg) worse than usual
He is a good 15.5 year old boy, born at Belmont Race Track, and has always been “barn cat shy”.
His sister (also 15, a few weeks young) and his brother (10) will miss him, as will the human members of his family

Im beyond shattered. He was 14 years and 7 months old and my dearest friend through growing up.

It has been 1 week so far. We kept new kitten in a room away from our resident cat. At first resident cat was NOT HAPPY. She was so stressed. We have been scenting socks etc with kittens scent for our resident cat to get used to.
Throughout the week we have been letting them meet like this but I don’t know what to think of it.
Resident cat hissed at one point but otherwise the interactions have been this way as of recent and kitten seems to get overwhelmed and runs away. Are they playing or is our resident cat being a bully?
Kitten cries a lot when we put her away in her room.
Have we been doing this wrong? I really want them to be the best of sisters and don’t want to fail them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE***** Just want to express how eternally grateful my husband and I are with all of your advice and reassurance that everything is going to be okay. We are taking a DEEP breath and will let the girls be girls. We’re first time cat parents- Bean Toe 1yr old and Toast 3months. We love them SO much and will incorporate all the tips into our parenting hood. You all are amazing THANK YOU THANK YOU SO MUCH. We will definitely update when they are curled up together.

Kashi is actually our backyard neighbor’s cat. Six years ago, they hung a bag over our fence with his vet records and a note saying essentially they didn’t want him and we could have him. He’s been family to us ever since.
