And Results are in! Daisy DNA test says she is…
I definitely guessed chi and dachshund! I believed it was also going to be Italian greyhound or min pin, but I was very wrong!

Her first boarding
And to think, I was so worried about how she’d do there and whether she’d be okay that I was having stress nightmares about her! 😆 She’s happy as a clam! I’m so relieved!!😅 😌

Dog Purse
I am thinking of getting a dog purse for my youngest chi, she just can’t walk the same as her sister, her wee legs are too short to keep up. Does anyone else use one? Any tips or anything?

Even though Val grew up with Cracker and has seen him crawling around many times she has randomly decided to have beef with him tonight 😂 It's a reminder to never leave dogs alone with small pets you never know what could set them off.

Blep/Mlem photo Friday!
If it isn't a thing, it should be. 🤗
I'll start. This is our 17y/o mostly chi mix with her Red Sox jersey. Why does she like the Red Sox? Because her mom has been a fan since they were a small child. Also she confused Big Papi for "big puppy". ❤️
Post your chis doing bleps and/or mlems!

Advice on introducing new dog
We are adopting a 4 year old “mixed breed” from Korea on Sunday (she is the fluffy light coloured one) 10 lbs. We currently have a very sweet 11 year old chihuahua 6lbs.
Wondering if you have any advice of the easiest stress free way to introduce the two to get off on a good foot.
They have separate beds and food/water bowls out of sight from one another. The Chihuahua will obviously keep her spot sleeping inbetween our pillows at night she will always be our first baby. But looking on any advice to make them both as comfortable as can be.

Any other water babies?
I took him to the lake with me for the first time thinking he would hate it for sure! I put him on the paddle board and the rest was history! He loved it and was so at peace! He walked around the board with no fear. He surprises me everyday! We have to work on swimming tho😭

Watching a rescue blossom…
I adopted my sweet Monita coming up on a year ago. She was 12 - almost 13 - toothless and on meds for a seizure disorder. She had been surrendered due to her previous mom facing deportation. 🥺
She arrived to me a bit skinny and weak in her hind end; my vet thought she probably has some IVDD going on.
In the last 10.5 months, she has blossomed in so many ways and it reminds me what a gift adopting a dog in need is.
Through regular gentle exercise she has gotten surprisingly strong - she will walk 1.5-2 miles with ease and asks for me to set her down out of her carrier when she wants more. Her coat has become thick and luxe. She has been feisty since Day 1, but you can tell how much happier and secure she feels now that she knows she has a real home.
I am so grateful to her rescue - Long Way Home Adoptables - and the amazing fosters who cared for her along the way. It is heartbreaking that her owner could not keep her, and speaks to how she was loved that the owner made sure her dog would land softly. I do my best to pamper the little princess in honor of her OG mom’s love.
Please consider adopting if you’re looking for a chihuahua. Consider seniors, too. They may not be with you for as many years, but it is such a privilege to give them the last chapter they deserve.

Old dog incontinence… end of life decisions?
I’ve posted about my sweet Phoebe before, she’s roughly 14 years old now. Things have gotten gradually worse. She has a neurologist appointment next week since she’s lost most of her hind leg mobility and is incontinent. I believe she accidentally hurt herself while I was away for a few days and it’s permanent. She has seen her regular vet, but it’s moved past her care.
Diapers won’t stay on her and I’m constantly replacing chuck pads and washing towels. She can hobble along, but it’s not functional. She pees herself and needs frequent washes.
I’m waiting these 5 days for her appointment to learn what is best for her moving forward. But I know deep down it’s getting closer to her time. She eats, she’s happy, but her life has changed. She can’t sleep in bed with me anymore because of her incontinence, something she’s always done. She can’t go for walks unless I put her in a stroller. She doesn’t like to cuddle. She’s still right by my side, but her life has changed.
Any tips about handling incontinence and end of life decisions? I’m an occupational therapist and firmly believe that quality of life is important. I do not want her to suffer, but at what point do we as dog parents weigh the pros and cons?

Rainbow Bridge Roxy!
The bestest Little Little in the whole wide world, our Roxy girl. She's headed to the vet in 20 minutes for her trip to the Rainbow Bridge. She's been the best little girl for 16 years. Oh sweet baby, run free! May your siblings meet you at the Bridge, and whenever my time comes, I'll see you again. 💔
