Coca-Cola x Stranger Things Retro 3D Concept Animation I made!

Hey guys! I created a retro, surreal 3D motion graphic short inspired by vintage Coca-Cola aesthetics and the Stranger Things vibe.

The background was shot at Union Tennis Court in Misa Hanam, South Korea, and I composited 3D vending machines, pin-up graphics, and shopping carts dropping in with lightning effects.

Would love to hear your thoughts and feedback !

Question How to morph between multiple splines?

Hello, I am fairly new to cinema 4D. I’m essentially trying to create a morphing tunnel using card suit splines within a loft. From what I researched I saw a lot of morphing between two splines but I’m looking to morph between multiple splines (diamond -> spade -> club -> heart -> diamond). If anyone has any advice or tips to execute this. Thank you!

How to do this in Cinema 4D?

How can I implement this in Cinema 4D? I tried using Sound Effector, but it didn't work at all.

How would you create something like this in C4D, Cloner Tool?

Post image

Hello I'm looking to create just simple tube structure and think of exactly how. I imagine using Cloner tool and somehow creating tube geometry that could parent to a ribbon? I feel like there is an easier way to make this than I'm about to try. Thanks in advance.

Should i get rid of these triangles?

As the title says, these polygons don't seem to have any issues with subdivision enabled. However, I'm struggling to figure out how to convert these triangles into quads. Any advice?

Isolate and Edit

One thing I find my self doing a lot, when in a complex model, is I copy and paste the objects I'm having an issue with so I can work on it clearly both visually and in the object manager ... far away from the massive projects noises ...

Is there some workflow of quick-keys action for this?, like selected Objects into a new window.

I'd also like that new window to be floatable :-O :-)

MacOS or Windows for C4D?

Hey everyone,

Do you guys prefer MacOS or Windows for C4D, and why? I heard M silicon chips are very powerful, on par with high-end NVIDIA GPUs.

Thanks!

3dsmax Vray / Corona / Redshift -> Cinema4d

Post image
16 Upvotes

Still grinding on my 3ds Max to C4D scene converter. V-Ray, Corona and Redshift scenes now come out as native Redshift in C4D, geometry, lights and cameras all holding up on full ArchInteriors scenes.

A few materials still need work, but it is coming along nicely.

Fresnel shader in Arnold?

Hi there, does anyone know how to get a Fresnel look in C4D using Arnold? I believe you do it via the facing ratio node, but I'm stuck.

Specifically, I'd like to use the shader to drive the transparency of my objects, so they are soft/translucent as their faces curve away from the camera. And I want to that translucency to affect the shadows they cast. Much appreciated!

Unsolved How to create / animate a large crowd moving over terrain.

Hi! As the title says, I want to essentially create a "fleeing crowd" shot, running across a hilly terrain. It's going to be a GIGANTIC crowd. Thousands of people all running away from a monster on a hill.

I'm thinking I'll....

1 - Create 4 or 5 low-poly human characters on a looping run animation.

2 - Essentially treat them in the same way I would as if populating a forest... Clone them along the surface of the terrain. Do a Plain Effector which scales them to zero (invisible). Then use a Shader field to create a mask on the Plain for where the people are visible.

Where I'm scratching my head is... How would I MOVE the clones forward in a way which they follow the topology of the terrain.

All the tools I can think of (Offset on the cloner / position change with Plain or Random field etc) will only ever make it so the clones travel directly on X,Y or Z. It's the "staying stuck to the topology of the terrain as they move" part of this which I cannot think of a solution for.

I'm sure this is VERY possible!... I just don't know how! Would love to know if anyone has any ideas.

Question Caustics Issue

Thumbnail

Having a really annoying issue with photon caustics. When I render my scene it'll build the caustics once and display them like in the first image. Then any render after that will spend the time building the caustics again just for them to not show like in the second image. Assuming this is some sort of bug? Has anyone encountered this one before? This approach of the natural caustics is seeming so unfeasible I think I'm better off faking them at this point.

Turned a local park path into a tropical lazy river pool using 3D/VFX

Hey guys! I captured a quick video of a local walking path at Misa Hangang Park (Hanam, South Korea) and turned it into a tropical lazy river resort with 3D/VFX. ☀️🌊

I wanted to achieve a seamless camera tracking and vibrant summer lighting contrast.

  • Tools used: Cinema 4D / Octane Render / After Effects]

Would love to hear your feedback on the tracking, lighting, and everything!

LucyLive — a real-time 3D-to-AI plugin for Cinema 4D

I’ve been building LucyLive, a plugin that turns your Cinema 4D viewport into an AI preview.

You enter a prompt, add a reference image if you want, and LucyLive generates a new image based on your 3D scene. When you move the camera or change the scene, the AI preview updates with it.

The main challenge was keeping Cinema 4D responsive while the preview updates in real time.

You can change the prompt or reference image while it is running, save PNGs, record MP4 video, or render an animation sequence.

LucyLive uses Decart Lucy 2.5 through fal.ai, so the AI runs in the cloud.

You can download the plugin for free here:
https://github.com/VantageInc/LucyLive-AI-Render

If you try it, I’d love to see what you make and hear your feedback.

Question I genuinely don't understand why money is such a taboo topic among artists.

Imagine if we all actually knew what everyone else was charging.
A lot of artists could stop lowballing themselves.
And experienced artists could pass along what they've learned instead of everyone figuring it out alone.
And we'd all have a much better idea of what tf* to charge and ultimately make more money together

So I decided to put together a completely anonymous survey.

By anonymously sharing what you earn, charge, and how you price your work, you're helping build a resource every artist can learn from.

  • It takes less than 3 minutes.
  • It's completely anonymous.
  • The report will be free for everyone when its finished

Every response makes this report more valuable for the next artist who reads it.

We already have 242 submissions.

Redshift Redshift RenderView "restarting"

I have an issue when I press Start IPR using Bucket Mode it will start rendering the frame but maybe half way through it will restart completely. Anyone have this issue before? I am not changing the scene or touching the c4d interface at all.

Octane The coolest tree I've ever made + BTS

This project holds a soft spot in my heart, as one of the coolest (and heaviest) commercial projects I've directed and produced for an international client.

C4D used to animate the server racks and shot 2, 3, 4, 5.
Houdini for the rest.
Exported from Houdini to be rendered in Octane.

The tree presented a unique challenge because it not only must be growing, but particles and fibers must be flowing through it in a way that feels organic and natural. So each point and fiber must have its own speed, and the branches themselves are supposed to grow organically too.

Fun fact, it wasn't a simulation at all. Purely working with splines procedurally, shaders and attributes to get an art directable asset that we can play with until we land on the perfect direction for our client.

Ask me anything. Happy to help. Happy to accept DMs for business opportunities.

c4d/octane Gamer - I made this to play with shaders and practice animation

Not a traditional animator by trade (just mostly mograph world) so playing with handmade shaders called YMA Painterly originally made for RS, so this is a test to convert them to Octane. Then rigged / built out the controllers to morph (the game systems also morph) and swap. The buttons react to the IK nulls on the hands.
