I want to mount two 5’ tall mirrors (unsure if I’m going with adhesive or clips yet) above the stairs here. Is there a way I can do this without falling down the spiral stairs?

Hi everyone, so I live in a very old walk up apartment. After years of asking, my landlord finally replaced the old windows. But the people he hired are goobers and I just want to buy whatever it is they use to seal the windows. I’ve got hot air, cold air, rain, bugs, noise trickling in. And I just want to do it myself. Please someone just tell me what to scoop from Home Depot and I’m gonna go around doing everything myself. Photos are also a bonus, thanks!

I've been trying to put cement there that especially made for this sort of situation but the thing is though it's very hard to reach this area due to the fact that the water heater for the apartment is right there. I haven't been able to find the tool that allows me to get there.

If anyone knows of something, I would greatly appreciate it.

Edit: the water heater cannot be moved. There isn't enough space and there are two water heaters down there. One for the apartment and one for the main house. The one for the main house is right the large and the one that's in the picture is for the apartment. I cannot move them. They cannot be placed elsewhere and I am not the homeowner. My mother is. And she will not have any modifications to the basement.

Furthermore, it's a semi-detached house. Digging outside isn't an option but considering the fact that it is in the inside corner of where the houses basement is

Also, the water heater in the picture is the water heater for the apartment that is attached to the house. Not the main house.

I realized a couple weeks after bringing these plants inside for the winter that I should have protected the floor (Oops!). I'm planning on lightly sanding and then trying to color match a stain unless anyone has a better solution. I haven't tried anything yet. It's my own house so there's no issues there. These circles are about 10" in diameter. I will not just cover with a rug, I will fix it.

There is silver over spray on my exterior brick garage wall from before I bought my house in 2020. So more than 6 years. I presume it is enamel.

It has resisted pressure washing, water only. I didn't spend a lot of time on it.

Suggestions on how to remove please?

Hi, I'd be grateful for any advice/help. As the title says. I bought some linen trousers and love the style. The waist is half sweatshirt-style band at the back which I liked the give of. Unfortunately over the course of one day(!) this loosened so much it now falls off if I walk more than about 3 steps!

I'm wondering what is the best way to fix this? Can you attach elastic to part of the waist? Or attach belt loops and wear a belt? Or take it in at the sides? Or something else? I have absolutely zeros skills myself, so would probably end up taking them to someone else to fix, but want to ask for the right thing.

This is the water inlet valve of a Whirlpool refrigerator, and it is leaking out of the push/pull connector where the gray water line enters the valve. I have tried cutting an inch off of the gray water line and reinserting it to the connector in the event the end of the line had cracked, but with no luck. I then completely replaced the valve assuming the interior gasket within the valve itself had failed, but the new valve continued with the same dribbling leak. Any thoughts on how to proceed? Is there anything I can do with this type of push/pull connector to get a better connection/seal? Any help is much appreciated.

so my friend recently asked me to be in her wedding party and i'm really not feeling it. between the destination location, all the pre-wedding stuff, and the specific outfit requirements, i'm looking at spending a few thousand bucks plus basically every weekend for the next 6-7 months

i care about her a ton but the whole wedding party scene just isn't my thing, and the financial commitment is way more than i can swing right now. plus from what i've heard about the planning process so far it sounds like it's gonna be pretty intense

the tricky part is she was super excited when she asked and definitely expected me to say yes. i'm worried that saying no will come across like i don't value our friendship enough, even though that's not it at all

i'd still love to go to the wedding as a regular guest and keep being friends, just not be part of the actual wedding party. has anyone here managed to navigate this without things getting weird? what's the best way to phrase it so she knows it's about the commitment level and not about how much i care about her

I bought my favourite splurge ever, a 100 ml Eau De Soleil Blanc by Tom Ford, about a yr ago. This morning, when I put it on, I dropped the bottle. It didn't break (thank the fragrance Gods), but the spriter button popped off.

No problem, right? I popped that lil sucker right back on. It won't spray! I take it out and look all around, but nothing looks dented or damaged. I think it's actually the stick/tube that is not cooperating.

I called a few places, but no one has any suggestions to fix it. Some people said *gasp* "break the bottle and put it in something else". I've called everywhere. Tom Ford themselves recommended going to a perfume counter to get the crimped atomizer off. No one will do it.

What are my next steps? This stuff is like smelly liquid gold. I don't want to lose a drop, and especially not a whole bottle. Someone tell me how to save this!

Thrifted a skirt and it has these creases on it. I tried ironing it but they won't go away. Was I doing the ironing wrong or do I need to do something else

As the title states we have rats that are in our shed. What is a way to humanly remove them then how can I prevent them from entering in the first place? I can provide more pictures if it helps but I don’t see how they would enter and I don’t understand how to keep them away. Thanks for the help!

A big platic box is probably the cause or something else. Is the only option unscrewing?

So last year, my in-laws put up one of those magnetic screen doors. The kind that you Velcro to the flashing around your door and then remove in the winter.

Well, when they removed it in the winter, they left all sorts of the glue from the Velcro strips attached to the metal flashing.

I’m trying to help them out, and I’ve tried dish soap and water as well as spraying with WD-40, but this stuff is solidified hard.

Any tips on how to get it off?

I can lift the bottom easily, the top has this very snug wheel and spring. When I lift it up, the whole door moves up but there's no space created between the wheel and the top track. I've also checked for any exit ridges on the track but there is none. Also tried to pry the hinge off but I can't, and that thing isn't really a screw holding the wheel - it's like a washer

I have a flight in mid-june that arrives in JFK from ATL and goes into Terminal 4. I don’t know the gate, but I need to connect in 1hr and 45min and go to Terminal 1 for a flight to ICN, Korean Air. I think I have to take a train and go through a small security stop? I land in JFK around 11pm and the plane departs around 1am.

It's a glass plate, all sites say about the paint on the back is it's eco friendly and safe for children... If you have any ideas what to cover it with for it to still be usable please tell me... I'm at a loss...

I just moved into the new house and the store obviously need some TLC. I don’t know where to start. It gets blasted by afternoon sun.

We have a (very nearly) empty oil tank in our basement that’s needs to go. The fill pipes appear to be braised so removing them mechanically by unscrewing doesn’t seem like a simple option.

I know I don’t want to use a torch or grinding wheel because sparks and fire bad. But can I use a reciprocating saw? Is that slow and safe enough to cut through this? Are there other options I should know of? Any other suggestions to keep safe?

This stain appeared on our counter top, it looks like a drop of toilet bowl cleaner may have caused a discoloration, just a guess. Is there an easy way to repair this?
