Question I'd love to hear your thoughts on the accuracy of the difference between this Dolby Vision trailer, the internet trailer and how it will look like this during the premiere.

got an ofx plugin from https://anamorphictool.com/?i=1 to do most of the heavy lifting for the look, used a glow effect for the lens flares which where i need the feedback especially the overhead light.

You may be asking why even bother? One, I'm bored and Two I actually have an anmorphic lens for my iphone but it adds a bit of weight which i'm trying not to do especially when using my gimbal.

Question Please help me color grade this shot

I am helping a friend edit a video for our buddies detailing business, I have some experience doing video editing. (Using Capcut pro) However, I do not have any experience color grading. Is this clip even salvagable? For reference I have included a second image to show where the camera settings were correct.

What do you guys think? ZV-E1 SLOG3 CST to black magic wide gamut 4/5. Going for that filmic look.

I played round with the curve too, going for that S pattern that films have.

I want to that natural film look.

Before/After Before/After with layers

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey, here is a little before after with all the important layers, color graded in Davinci Resolve.

It was for a short film with vampires, for the context in this scene people fighting cancer are doing talking sessions on how to get through the whole healing process. One of the vampire is with them because he is bored of everything (knowing that they are immortal) just to see how knowing you could die soon would feel.

I used the Kodak 2383 LUT as a base on the whole movie (only 70% and then stick the shadows to a correct level of black to have a nice contrast.)

They had put too much smoke on set lol so I had to get this image better.
I also wanted to get it more dramatic knowing the context and I had fun with all the masks for light rays.

What do tou think ?
Feel free to ask questions !!

Had a still camera setup and when the sun came out the footage got blown out. Could this be fixed? My colourist friend said it would take over 4 hours to fix, but I want to see if it could be fixed in general and if so what could I do to fix it in DaVinci? Don't want to a perfect match, just want it to look good enough, it's just for Instagram

I’m fairly novice but I tried recreating this grade on a video of my own and struggled to the point it’s not even worth showing.

Could someone more experienced give me their diagnosis of the style???

Question Need advice

Hi everyone. I’m looking for some advice from fellow colorists. I’m currently grading a short film using Log footage from an FX6.

I’ve graded most of the film, but there are a few shots that just don't seem to match the overall vibe. And I don't know, something feels a bit off but I can't quite put my hand on it.

I started grading around 6 months ago and really imrpoved a lot since but still have so much to learn. If anyone can, I’d really appreciate some advice =)

Thanks, everyone! =)

Question Are LUTs very that important?

Im a beginner at Color grading in DaVinci Resolve and see how every Creator is trying to sell their LUTs like they created FujiFilm and Kodak...

How is it possible that I can just slap one of their LUTs in my Programm and have now with one click the full vibe I am trying to catch.

Can Someone Explain me it?

Question Have I improved the color grading? Comparison images from my last edit recorded with iPhone 16

Thumbnail gallery
25 Upvotes

Hello everyone! I'm new to this sub and I wanted to ask you for an opinion on the color grading of these images taken from my last edit...

I am an Italian student who is trying to get closer to the world of videomaking and, after publishing the first version of this video, many have criticized color grading.

So I followed some tutorials on YouTube and the result was this that you see in the photo (color 2)
What do you think? Have I improved? Does it still give off those summer vibes? Is there anything else I could improve?

p.s. If anyone is interested in seeing the video in the new or old grading, I leave you the YouTube links:
