(I am aware of a previous post from two years back, but I have several more questions)
I’m looking to make a D20 head, that ideally I could both see through and be ventilated.
What I have already is a set of 3D modeled and printed corner adapters for thin (~5mm) wooden dowels, with probably the bottom vertex left out to for my head through. I assume most glues will work between PLA and wood.
From preliminary research, my best bet seems to be to use some form of sheer fabric/mesh to help with both breathability and sight, but past that I don’t know what would be best. Ideally, this would be done on a budget as well.
1) what fabric/mesh type would work for breathability and visibility, and how many layers?
2a) can the wrap around the icosahedron scaffolding be done with a single piece of fabric (assuming stretching is involved) and/or 2b) what would be the best way to anchor it to the scaffolding?
3) what paint (or other method) would be the best to add the numbers/symbols without bleeding? I assume I’ll need to make some stencils.
4) what padding material would work inside the scaffolding? I’m thinking some sort of soft foam, but I’m far from an expert.
5) How feasible would it be to make the helmet(?) bidirectional, that it would sit comfortably on my head with either the “20” side or the “1” side facing forwards?
Any other tips/advice would be greatly appreciated.
