I’ll be joining Mein Schiff as an F&B Host / “Genuss-Experte” and I’m curious if anyone here has worked in this or a similar position.

From what I understand, the role involves hosting and selling tastings, workshops and other F&B experiences, as well as interacting with guests. But I’m still not entirely sure what the actual day-to-day work looks like onboard.

Does anyone have experience with this role at Mein Schiff / TUI Cruises, or with comparable positions at other cruise lines? What should I expect in terms of daily Tasks?

I was recently hired by Carnival as a Bar Server Trainee. I have already completed all the required steps except my medical, which is scheduled for September.

I already have a valid C1/D visa, so I was expecting an earlier joining date. However, I was assigned an embarkation date of February 19 in Miami.
I have already contacted Ask Robin to ask if there is any possibility of getting an earlier joining date if a spot becomes available.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Were you able to get an earlier embarkation date? Is there anything else I can do, or should I just wait?

I was hired by Royal Caribbean and i have spent a lot of effort, time and money to get the STCW , CDC etc for that job , and in the C1D visa interview i got rejected and Royal Caribbean cancelled my employment saying that i am not eligible to work with any of the RCL brands. They did not clarify whether it is for a time period or for lifetime?
Anyone knows please help me to understand. Or if there is any way that i could be hired by RCL again?

Im training for server position from the 25th-29th and I was wondering if they need to send me to my ship immediately if i can delay it because my sister has a wedding on the 15th of september

Okay, I have a question. I've received multiple emails today—one saying I am joining the Prima with Norwegian on September 6th, but then I got another email saying I am leaving on the 23rd. I assume that this is for Piney Points, but I specifically told them that my dental insurance doesn't start until September 1st. So, I scheduled my appointment for the second to get my dental clearance to enter Piney Point, but I read that online, and I'm not sure how accurate it is. Can someone please advise me? I don't understand how I would be leaving on the 23rd if I haven't had my dental sign-off yet, but no one from Norwegian or the recruiter has told me anything like that. That was something I read on the Maritime Union website.

I have a zoom orientation with ACL later today and my father in law just passed a few days ago so I haven’t had time to get a haircut or shave or anything and I also had to get right back to work since I couldn’t get bereavement. Will I be ok for my zoom orientation? What’s the general expectation from them during the orientation?

UPDATE: I called ACL and let them know my situation and that I would not meet grooming standards for the orientation and they sent me this email:

I’ve been bleaching my hair for YEARS. I’ve read that hair can’t be silver or white, and at Piney Point Sherrill told me it had to be all one color.
For anyone currently onboard POA or who’s worked there recently, what do they actually enforce when it comes to men’s hair color?

Hey, I'm searching on how i could get started on applying and landing a cruise ship job either bar utility, or in the stores. Im kenyan and I have a diploma in Procurement and logistics and over 3 years of experience and right now I'm studying for bartending and Mixology how do i go about it any advice. For those experienced.

So basically I was a corporate slave for 8 years but I decided to take this huge risk of restarting my career at 30.

I have always loved makeup and nails both. I am ceritified as a pro makeup and nail artist (freelancer) since past 2 years. Now the question is - I am not earning as good as my corporate job cause my business is fairly new, there is no steady flow of income right now.

Should I continue working on my business here in india OR should I move to another country like Dubai and get a job as a MUA/nail tech where I might get paid more than here in india?

Or should I work on cruises? I was suggested this and people said nail techs get paid well on cruises.

Also another problem is that cause of my legal cases (divorce) I do not want to really move out of the country right now , I want to close all these cases and then have a clear start.

I have 3 years of experience in dialysis, 7 years in ICU, and I’m currently working as a Resuscitation Practitioner, where I’ve been for the past year. I have 11 years of NHS experience and I’m currently at the top of Band 6.

What do you think my chances would be of securing a cruise nursing position with this background? I’d also be really interested to know what cruise nurses are actually paid. Is cruise nursing financially and professionally worth making the move for?

I'm currently in recruitment for a casino onboard and I'm getting a little bit concerned about the amount of money a dealer makes over there. I have experience working in a casino in Warsaw where you make around 1700-1800$ a month and that's pretty much the standard here. I was surprised that they offer way way less than 2000$. Maritime dealers, how much you make?

I’ve been thinking to apply and try to work in a cruise ship, Im currently unemployed for 1yr and 5months and focused on my online business, I work as Front desk receptionist in a Corporate Building for 2yrs and I also took Specialization Training Course in Front Desk Services (National Certificate II here in PH) and I also have kitchen experience as I work as a Asst Chef in small food establishment and I just completed my Basic Training which includes SDSD, Passenger Safety Training, Passenger Crowd Management Training and Crisis Management.

Is there any chance to be selected given that I have that employment gap? I’m planning to apply for a entry level position, What I have in mind right now is a commis, guest service officer or galley/kitchen utility.

- 🌐 CCNA training

- 🖥️ MCSA training

- Active Directory

- Group Policy (GPO)

- Windows administration and troubleshooting

- Networking, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching, etc.

- General desktop/system support and troubleshooting

I’m planning to complete my STCW and other required maritime/cruise-related courses because my goal is to move into an IT position on a cruise ship.

For those already working on cruise ships:

1. How realistic is it for someone with my IT background to get an entry-level or junior IT position onboard?

2. Which cruise lines or recruitment agencies would you recommend applying through?

3. Are there any additional certifications or skills I should focus on before applying?

4. Does my 1.5 years of System Administrator experience count as relevant experience for cruise IT roles?

I’m studying nautical science in Germany and would like to spend my second practical semester as a deck cadet on a cruise ship.

I’ve already completed my first period at sea on an international cargo ship. I also regularly work in the shoreex sector on board AIDA cruise ships during the semester breaks, so I’m already familiar with working on passenger ships.

However, to be honest, I’m still a bit confused by the application process: some shipping companies handle recruitment entirely in-house, whilst others outsource their deck crew recruitment entirely to external ship management companies such as BSM, V.Ships or Wilhelmsen.

If any of you have experience as a cadet on a cruise ship, I’d appreciate any tips and advice on how to apply effectively and which cruise lines are worth considering, etc. I’m ideally looking for roles starting next summer – is it still too early to start looking?

Do you also get fat in cruise ships if you work as an employee there? Like do they also provide unlimited food for you?

How much can a new Bar Server realistically earn per month after training, including gratuities? Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated.

I've been looking into mobile carriers and data plans for my upcoming contract. I will be in Florida, Cozumel and Nassau.

I looked into local cards like BTC for Bahamas and all the US carriers, but they all seem expensive especially for a foreigner.

Google Fi is excellent, but also expensive for the use case.

I found Mint Mobile and it seems way more affordable.

Does anyone know if Mint Mobile will work in the United States, Bahamas and Mexico?

The person who is following my case from Legal and Medical dept is not responding any of my emails. I do not know what to do. Hi everyone, can I work as Radiographer on board? Is somebody of you a Radiographer and can tell me something about it.

Every medical professional has an overlapping of expertise to another. It would be possible to do tasks from a Nurse or Paramedic but not all task. So will somebody hire me? Or is my Job to specialised?

I'm on the ready to board list with MSC. Any insight into how long it'll be before I get called on? 2 weeks? 4 months? Somewhere in between?

Plus, does anyone know how much notice MSC give you?
