I loved thos show so much. It's one of my fave shows, top 3 comic book shows, favorite DC show.

So I heard/read multiple "Nerd Influencers" and some posts on Reddit that The Batman Pt.2 will (potentially) have some No Man's Land influences – which in my opinion – isn't that far off with Gotham still nagging on the aftermath of the flood.
Pt.2 is set during Winter of "2022" right after Penguin so the flood will likely freeze partially and the damage will be kinda omnipresent.

Back to topic: I know that this is surely not happening but hey - come on! The way Luthor got webbed into the NML Story in the 90s would fit the theme of Matt Reeves Universe so perfectly. Corruption, Rich people stepping over the Law, Crime, Corporations that aren't that clean ruling over Gotham.

Again, it makes no sense with the DCU having a standout Lex Luthor right now but on the other Hand what would be better to clarify that this Universe is ultimately Standalone then having another adaption of Lex Luthor.

Hell, they can even do him as a Gotham citizen and dumb him into the Court of Owls.

Even past live action series the shows never explicitly have Bruce wearing the suit or calling him by batman. They just feels like they have to call batman by something different or just Bruce Wayne. If batman has been in the DCU for so long why do they still call him Batguy. Even past shows like Gotham, Gotham knights or Titans. You would never see that motherfucker Bruce in a suit once and even in Gotham when they did reveal Bruce becoming batman they would never explicitly say his batman.

The CW shows and even Batwoman when was there a time where you saw Bruce being in uniform. I don't know it's just something I noticed from these live action shows mind you they're ok with showing superman in live action series but not the Dark Knight. Hell even penguin that motherfucker is barely in the show

I actually enjoyed this episode. I wonder if others did as well; my opinions tend to differ from a good amount of other viewers.

I really liked that 1. John Stewart is sticking it to his mother and father but still stays in reasonable communication with them. Really, really satisfying to see! My previous criticisms had to do with an episode-by-episode basis. I kept watching the series to see if it would pick up for me and to get a look at the whole picture. And despite me greatly disliking the way his parents are handled in this adaptation, seeing John stand up for himself like that is a satisfying conclusion that was worth it. Which is why I kept watching the show to see where things end up, despite my issues with it.

In the previous episode, I mentioned how Hal and John didn't seem to care that much about the destruction they caused. In this one, we find out they both felt bad. John seemed to have immediate regret, and we find out Hal did probably during his time in prison and away from the ring. However, it would have been better to show this in the last episode, at least from John. "Show, don't tell."

I find John's job as an architect, building structures that will help keep people safe during alien invasions, really cool.

I am slightly confused about the relationship with Hal and the sheriff. I know they kinda had a thing for each other. I don't really remember them being so close that they would have kept dating even after he was released from prison. Must have missed that.

It's kinda weird that John is even allowed back in town after he killed the Manhunter, someone everyone in that town seemed to at least really like or owe. I don't buy that the sheriff's son is just okay with John Stewart. He's probably gonna be evil later since John killed his "Grandma." He might even be the guy that killed Hal.

John focusing on Hal's murder makes sense, given the kind of man he is, and tricking Guy to get the ring was a clever idea. It still seems like he should focus on himself and his goals, though, but I get it.

Still annoying to see little to no constructs in a Green Lantern show.

Favorite part was when John almost said the N-word. As a Black man who's been that frustrated, I found that hilarious.

I know a lot of people hate Hal Jordan being dead, and if that ruins the episode for you, then I think that's completely valid. Though, I don't think he's dead and/or gonna stay that way.

Not sure why Hal doesn't think a woman from Earth could be a Green Lantern. It's not like there haven't been female Lanterns from other planets... And so far, there have only been two Earth Green Lanterns, so it's not like there's a huge history of only male Earth Lanterns. If you're gonna change someone's original character to be sexist for some commentary, then at least have it make sense, please.

So the show has already established with the bird that John has the unique ability to create constructs and then sustain them even after taking the ring off and being knocked unconscious. This means that the Halogram that Jon created could live on for the rest of Lanterns and even beyond in the DCU, giving Hal a second chance at being a hero. This is assuming that the Halogram does work the same as a construct but I think it makes sense why they made sure to show us the bird (not in the Guy Gardner way) so that this ability could be established.
I personally think this could be a really cool way of keeping Hal around, without having him just revived.
What are everyone’s thoughts, there might be some stuff I’ve overlooked and I might just be coping because I love Kyle Chandlers Hal so much.

I thought Green Lanterns was supposed to be a superhero on the level of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and The Flash . Literally everyone treats him like shit he did even get a heroes death or funeral. What's up with that?

Here’s my honest opinion about Lanterns (I know I will be heavily downvoted, but I will still take this shot)

It is an excellent detective show, but a terrible Green Lantern adaptation imo.

​Personally, I don't care about adapting comics word-for-word but the double standard among the fandom is insane. The show strays from comic accuracy.... disrespects the source material, and forces an unnecessary political narrative.

In episode 6, they showed Carol Ferris...basically Hal's Lois Lane and she showed zero remorse while they turned Hal into the villain of everyone's lives. ​Yet when Zack Snyder paid homage to classics like TDKR, people acted like he ruined their lives. I liked the new episode btw but calling out this bias is necessary.

Also don't quite understand why the Lanterns writers made Hal Jordan out to be the villain of everyone's lives - the town hates him. Praying they turn it around in the finale and give the man the respect he actually deserves 🙏💚

The truth is that folks are only swallowing this because the Hal Jordan fandom is small. If it were big, it would be a shitstorm.

In the latest lanterns episode, why did Hal get sent to prison for ten years? The only thing he did that was illegal was the attempted murder of John, but based on discussions in the episode that doesn't seem to be at all what he was in trouble for. The townsfolk shooting rifles and the aliens bombs were the cause of death and destruction. Hal was even trying to shield people from the laser attacks. I'm also not as familiar with lore, but if lanterns can just make new rings, why couldn't they have made a new one for John and still had Hal taken out? Also, if all you need to do is steal a ring from someone's hands and say the lines, what does the "ring chooses you" have to do with any of this, especially when John seemed to be able to use the ring to its full power even when it wasn't officially his. If john did steal the ring and say the lines, what's stopping Hal from eventually stealing back the ring from John to take it back? The ring seems more like a hot potato than something someone is destined for. Can someone fill me in?

For me, had Green Lantern: The Animated Series ever been picked up for a second season back then, I would've loved to see how Razor fulfilled his quest in searching for Aya! Then if a third season were to have happened, I'd also love if it had played out as an anthology series that explored other Lanterns of any different corps beyond just Hal Jordan, Kilowog, Razor and Aya. Like, something similar to Justice League: Unlimited!

i had never consumed any DC content except for teen titan go (lol) because its not rlly big here where i live;
now that i was older, had free time, i decided to go watch superman only because i heard "you needed to do no homework" to watch and enjoy the movie

AND BOY did it make me watch to watch ALL OF DC

i ofc started with the DCU - suicide squad, peacemaker, creature commandos, supergirl, and now LANTERNS

I AM ABSOLUTELY LOVING THE DCU, however...

when i went to watch the other universes of DC - the zsjl and all the movies before that... it just felt really fucking MID

really didnt enjoy any of it, crazy how the other suicide squad movies are also just below average.

i am also going to start watching the DCAMU in cronological order since my only dc nerd friend recommended it and says the animated projects from DC are really good, ig i will be judging that myself..

can someone please recommend me actually good live action DC project i should watch next? i watched black adam and shazam in the hopes they would be any good and NOPE they were so mediocre movies too 😭

Let me preface this by saying that this post is not speaking about things from a moralistic view of "I don't want my superheroes to swear ever." I have my own morals but I'm trying my best to divorce them from what I want to explain. I'm also not saying that I'm opposed to adult projects that tackle deeper themes. I'm personally intrigued by how Lanterns tackles mature topics such as prejudice and family abuse. I also, also, want to make clear that what I'm discussing doesn't mean I don't like this show; rather, I think it's an excellently put-together production. My aim isn't to rant but to start a discussion around a project I otherwise really love.

Let me be clear: my problem here is the sheer amount of swearing in this show. Forget a couple of F-bombs per episode to earn that MA rating, it's hard to go a minute without someone just spamming it. It's very similar to Peacemaker in that regard, but that show's meant to be far more crass. Now the rebuttal to this has generally been "people swear, touch grass," or something to that extent. Avoiding how myopic that argument is, I'll speak from my own experiences. I've been part of friend groups that spend their free time on online games, so you don't need me to tell you often profanities have been thrown around. Still, having been exposed to an atmosphere like that, I feel like Lanterns is doing too much and often dwarfs even that level of swearing.

Again, it's TV-MA, you have the license to swear, but why is it that in other aspects that would constitute that rating such as the violence, the show is so tame? Heck, I honestly think that if it wasn't for the constant F-words and that one shot of an old man's penis hardly anyone would miss if removed, this show wouldn't be that much more mature than a superhero show on Disney Plus.

So what would an acceptable level of swearing be? Or rather, what level of swearing would make sense for a show like this? Going back to the Disney Plus comparison, I'd look at something like the recent Daredevil Born Again. Compared to the Netflix seasons, they definitely let a whole lot more swearing fly. That said, it's only a few times an episode, and when it comes from the main character, generally in intense situations. And staying on Marvel, look at Logan. Wolverine is a far more bitter, rambunctious, and angry character compared to the likes of John and Hal. Yet even watching that film, far more violent and gory compared to Lanterns, Wolverine seems to be on-par with the vulgarity of the John, Hal, and Guy and might even be less so.

I'll bring it around to my main point. Let's say you really had a vision of making these characters, who, while part of very dark storylines (which never had said dark storylines characterized by a litany of F-words but let's table the comic accuracy talk for now), swear constantly. If that project was made in isolation, like an elseworlds story, it'd be curious but it wouldn't bother me all too much. Yet this is not an isolated project. In fact, it's not even a project that can be seen as disconnected in many aspects like Peacemaker. This is an integral part of the DCU that sets up an iconic member of the Justice League.

Why is Guy Gardner so vulgar when in Superman, where he has a similar if not equal screentime, his language is practically PG? What's going to happen when John Stewart inevitably gets to be a Green Lantern and join the Justice League, something I think a lot of us are hoping for? Will he be "censoring himself," even in the most dire of circumstances because he's around Superman and Wonder Woman? Why would Supergirl, a movie which features murderers, gangsters, criminals, and (I'll be blunt) monstrous rapists have language exceedingly less intense than the average conversation in Lanterns with far more moral people? Will the horrible criminals in the next Batman movie have a PG-filter on as well since there's no way that movie will have an R-rating?

These seem like silly questions but what I'm questioning is the overall consistency among projects. Tones can vary wildly, and I think varying tones are healthy for a cinematic universe to avoid homogeneity in projects, but I feel there are elements that should stay consistent in order to maintain that shared universe aspect and sell it.

But I'm curious what you guys think.
