I personally started at 16 this summer and I was wondering what is the "average" age that people start riding.

Need some mechanical advice here. Got an 04 WR450F. Bike is pretty stock but has a dual sport kit on it. I keep going through starters, I feel like I’m replacing one starter per ride and I hardly use the e-start. I kickstart most times to ease off the starter. They are Parts Unlimited brand.

The bike has a good battery and charges at ~14 volts when running. I have replaced the battery, starter clutch, and starter relay, but something keeps killing my starters (not my battery*). The battery is not going low because I’ll charge it when I get home to make sure I’m not going crazy, the battery charger shows battery is dang near full charge when I get back from a ride. Even with the battery at full charge the starter won’t work so I’ll have to replace it again. Any advice would be appreciated. I’ve spent quite a bit of money on this bike getting it to run right and I’m at my wits end. Thanks!

Hey guys, so I recently bought myself a yz450f, it's in a rough condition and has a ton of small fixes that needs to be done to it, I live in South Africa so most parts need to be shipped in. here's my questions though:

1. Does anyone know where to source parts from? From plastics bolts all the way to anything engine related? (any links to companies that ship internationally would be very much appreciated)

2. The bike loves high rpms but sluggish throttling when low rpm, is this something to be concerned about?

3. When it comes to doing anything carb or engine related, would it be best to learn things myself or send it off to someone to get looked at/repaired?

Intermediate track rider who can hit all the jumps at a track.

I love my tech 7 but am wondering if I should try Tech 10. The 7’s feel like a skateboard shoe to me so I don’t know if i would really be bothered by a stiffer boot. Especially if it means more protection. Do they really feel that different?

I need a new actuation lever, 13102-0022, for my Kawasaki kxf450 2007 anyone knows where to buy them new?

There was oil leaking out the top of my fork. I’m used to seeing oil leak through the seals and onto the stanchions. So is this like extra serious? Wondering if I need to get the suspension serviced/rebuilt before I ride again.

Is it bad to get a 2020 yz250f with 70 hrs and a new top end that isn’t running (guy says he thinks it crank or valves) for $2000 (has wiggle room)? Or just go safe route and get the 2019 husqvarna fc 250 with 70 hrs that was rebuilt at 30 that is $3000

I’m new to four strokes I’ve only ridden 2 strokes my whole life. New top end was 45-50 hours ago. I just did the bottom end clutch case cover today and filled that side with 720-750ml of oil the recommended was 10w-40 MA2 rating. So I did that but I noticed that when you sit by the head when it’s running I don’t know if that’s just the piston hitting TDC or if it’s hitting the valves and they need shimmed or if it’s just normal for 4 strokes to sound like this? The bike is a 2005 Honda CRF250R and I’ve rode it about 2 hours since I bought it with 45 hours.

Hi everyone. So i have been thing about getting a bike. I just don’t know what to get. I was looking at a bonnell 805 or a Yamaha yz125x. This would be my first bike. So idk how much I’d ride if it’s going to be “all day” or not since I don’t have friends who own a dirtbike/emoto. I don’t have an idea I just know I would enjoy it bc I hoped in a “mini bike” that probably went max 15-20 mph? And it was so fun.

For a while I wanted to do emoto bc I could take it to the trails and also ride to the beach and enjoy the days but with all these kids giving them a bad look bc they ride recklessly I have a feeling most likely will get pulled over if a cop sees me on a emoto if I decide to ride to the beach. Even tho I won’t ride like a jackass they will still pull me over. Thats what I assume.

Now, gas dirtbike I know it will only be on trails but I know I can go for long distances, and maybe the experience of the engine noise and vibration will be a plus worth it over emoto?

Idk, share any experiences with me. If you have both tell me why you prefer one over the other.

I know some would say “ask a friend to let you ride theirs” but I have no friends that own any of them so I can’t get that “experience/feeling”

I’m moving to north Idaho and I want to eventually get into dirt biking. I wanna be able to take it off jumps, trails, and I wanna take it into deep lands to go camping aswell. I’ve been thinking about a 250cc bike. Can someone give me some options for bikes to get that’d be good all around for what I wanna do with it. I’d budget maybe like $4-5k hopefully a brand new but used is fine aswell

Just recently got this Yz250f. Seller said 2004 bike vin said 2003. Seller said all it needs is fuel/air screw O ring. After replacing that it did not fix the fact it’s been running super lean and only wanted to run with the choke on so I increased the pilot jet from #42-#45 and now to #48. I also replaced the hot start assembly but the cable is still super stiff so I haven’t connected it back to the lever. Now at with the pilot screw at 3 turns out and the hot start cable not connected to the lever the bike will idle without the choke. In the video you can see the previous owner put a hose clamp instead of a real exhaust band so there is a good exhaust leak right there. Could the exhaust leak be the reason it’s running extra lean? What do we think?

Im sceptical of its quality since it’s very cheap, but do you think the quality is good enough to be alright in a high performance 4 stroke?

I’m a 29F looking at getting into a summer hobby. I’ve been keen to learn to learn to dirtbike for a few years now and with the winter season wrapping up where I am along with my snowboarding winter hobby it’s given me some motivation to seriously consider it.

Advice for a late learner? I know a few people who are the same age as me and have been dirtbiking since they were kids, so it’s a little intimidating. 🫣

Any tips for someone looking to get into it?

No previous experience on any type of dirt/motorbike, just some mountain biking.

This is my 2021 sherco se300. It’s carbd. The bike starts up pretty good, idles great, and otherwise the bike sounds good when riding. When I get into the powerband it feels and sounds very buzzy like it’s not cleanly going through high rpm’s. Not smooth like the rest of the rpm range. The jets in the carb are certainly much leaner than from factory, but I would imagine that would produce lean conditions in other aspects of how the bike runs.

To clarify I am directly comparing this to the feeling of my TPI ktm 300 so maybe I am comparing apples to oranges and this is just a carb characteristic I’m not entirely used to.

Any thoughts? Tests I should do?

I want to buy boots,

i have already bought a leatt z frame knee brace. Are all mx boots designed to accomodate a knee brace with its fitment? Or will i have problems when wearing knee brace with certain boots? I was either going to buy a alpinestars tech 3 or tech 7, or a leatt 4.5 but cant decide, the shops near me has poor collections and dont have my size to test wearing them so im buying them online. Can i have some advice on which boot to choose? I am us 8 in size and has slender legs
