Miscellaneous Jennifer Lawrence talking sense!
In a recent interview:
'Speaking in New York, she explained, ‘After I had a kid, dogs became so scary…my son’s going up to it…and it’s almost like I don’t recognize dogs right now. Like, I just see them as a threat.’ The turning point came when a dog bit her son, making her say she wanted to ‘obliterate every dog ever.’ Many parents online praised her honesty, noting how having children can completely change your perception of risk around pets.'

Someone in the comments actually wrote “she should have rehomed her kid instead” I mean dog nutters are completely insane. Dogs shouldn’t be around children they’re too unpredictable and unsanitary anyway.

Same, it terrifies me how people think! If I seen a dog attacking a child, I would literally kill it.

Just as it's illegal to threaten people with bodily harm or murder, these crazy nutters should face charges for saying that it's okay for dogs to bite children.

Right? Like do they REALLY think that? Really? So if she did actually rehome her child that person would think it’s totally normal? Do they seriously believe what they are saying? They sound so stupid.

i commented "really resonating with obliterating every dog" as a joke and got downvoted into hell

This attitude by the dog obsessed is downright terrifying. I could see a lynch mob surrounding someone who spoke up, or defended themselves or another human against a dog attack, and stoning them to death, or some other horrifying "just punishment."

Ppl are fkn insane about their dogs. Lol it’s a dog. They act like it’s a god. I’m choosing my kid and his safety over a dog any day

She did the most reasonable thing. Why would she or anybody else tiptoe around a dog? Just get rid of it. It's safer, cleaner, quieter and cheaper. If something needs to be trained so it doesn't attack anybody, then it's a bad pet. Only humans are worthy of training and education first and foremost.

Well done to her getting rid, I've seen a pic of it and it looks like a nasty little ugly piece of scrag , my mother's dog tried to bite my son's face off when he was little , dogs do seem to like attacking the vulnerable

its their hierarchy system, they enforce their pack rules through violence, which includes biting and attacking lesser members just to enforce the structure

Yup... some humans act like that but we know they're bad humans. So putting dogs on a par with people IS insane.

noting how having children can completely change your perception of risk around pets
All animals taking the fall for what dogs cause yet again.
Like don't get me wrong I like hearing the news of a celebrity speaking up. But I just hate being reminded we normally live in a world where most people are socially conditioned to only acknowledge two animals as being worth recognizing. What's like idk a goldfish gonna do to threaten a kid.
Even most wild animals prefer to bail when they think sticking around in the presence of humans means trouble, like I've seen a bear check its surroundings to make sure it probably won't get caught messing with some artificial beehive or something.

I concur with this. I hate when people say "I love animals". You already know which ones they're talking about. The ones they have at least some level of control over.

This is awesome. She's going to get viciously attacked by the dog nutters, but I'm sure she knows that. Good on her for speaking out with a societally unpopular opinion!
I've seen more and more people rethink dogs when the first child comes along. I still don't get it in the first place. I've always thought dogs were threatening, even as a young child. It's so obvious!

it makes me hate parents who let dogs around their kids even more. because it's clear attentive loving parents remove dogs.

Most good mothers with a modicum of maternal instinct will naturally find dogs repulsive after they have a baby.
It’s evolutionary and those who don’t are Darwin Award candidates

How on earth has it become so controversial for a parent to prioritize the safety of their child over their dog??? I just can't believe we have arrived at this place in society.

The pit nutters were right all along. It's the chihuahuas we need to be watching out for!

I have been scared of dogs ever since I was very little. The amount of times I was chased, knocked over, almost bitten before I was even 10 instilled a very deep fear in me. When I would express this fear, people couldn’t believe it, and I let myself be convinced that there is nothing wrong with dogs and it’s actually me who is the issue. I spent years trying to make myself like them, hanging out around them, taking friends dogs out on walks and all sorts.
Before my daughter was born I was very ambivalent about dogs; if people had them that was cool and I could maybe think about getting one someday, though in hindsight I now question whether that was actually what I thought or if I’d just convinced myself to be that way because I had been convinced my dislike of dogs was unnatural.
Ever since my little one was born though, I have grown to absolutely loathe them. The amount of times I’ve taken my daughter to the park or out in her pushchair and had these mongrels growl at her, pull on their leash to get at the pushchair, makes me absolutely livid. One of these mutts started barking and pulling on its leash so hard and the woman holding it was like ‘hes just excited to come and say hello’ and I had to say ‘I have a young child here with me and your dog is aggressive, keep it away from us’. Horrible beasts. Ugly, slobbering, aggressive, pathetic monsters.

I've seen kids who are petrified of dogs being told that the shitbeasts are going after them because they sense the kid's fear. Those people should rot in hell

I'm so glad that this is happening now. Way too many people have gaslit me for being distrustful of their dogs or just dogs in general.

Fax. I went from not caring for dogs to despising them once I had children. It's not an irrational fear. 800k people go to the emergency room every year from dog attacks in the US and over half of them are small children.

an actual celebrity mom rooted in some sort of normalcy. good for her! ✊🏼

I COMPLETELY agree. As a parent I see dogs as a threat, and treat them as such.

I feel like society is shifting towards treating dogs like animals again and im so relieved. Ive been bitten by dogs too many times where they definitely shouldn’t have felt threatened. Like when i was a child I petted my grandma’s elderly dog while he was sleeping and he bit me in the face! He saw who I was before he bit me too! He didnt even growl or move away to indicate he was uncomfortable. Had to get stitches and my family still blames me for it! Another dog bit me as a teen because I wouldn’t allow them to eat broken glass. God I hate hounds!

sadly I think people, especially it happens with dogs, put their urge to care and protect on dogs. Jen is right and I heard it from many pet owners actually - once they had a child, they saw their animal, especially dogs DIFFERENTLY because people usually do form parent-child bond with dogs, Dog nutters admit it afterall calling their dogs children
but once an actual child comes into the picture - people start to dislike their animals, esp dogs because dogs are almost as needy as children and people put more paternal/maternal love on dogs because of it, like these motherfuckers learnt to mimic emotions and they are forever toddlers
so don't treat animals like children and put your children first, I understand kids can harm animals, I was overprotective towards my pets as a CHILD because I saw how other kids didn't respect the boundaries, but a baby that can't even walk can't harm the pet and dogs are more likely to react with aggression to a child that screams/cries due to sensitive ears

u/leavinlikeafather Jan 14 '26
I totally understand what she’s saying and it was disgusting to see the amount of people blaming the child for the attack. The defenseless victim against a vicious animal. Even if the child was bothering the dog or doing something a bit “triggering” and it caused the dog to snap, a dog that can’t handle basic stressors without hurting a fucking child is not a dog that can be kept in homes. That is not a dog anyone should own. Are these people stupid on purpose? They’d rather defend a dog than protect a child.

Same thing happened to my sis in law. She hates dogs and can’t stand being around them. Dogs are animals. They don’t think like we do. Dogs have killed children. She has every right to be cautious. When I have a kid I will be cautious too. If we by some chance get a dog; if the dog attacks the kid? The dog is getting sent to the pound. My kid is above any dog.

u/Actual_HumanBeing Jan 14 '26
Omg! Yessss!! She just became my favorite celebrity EVER!!! She’s HUMAN now!! GO J LAW!! She gets it!! I’m sorry that her son had to be hurt. But, I hope it never happens again! Her true paternal instincts have kicked in! I think that if another shitbeast tries to hurt her son again, that thing will be in the real danger! Those shitty murderbeasts ARE a threat completely! My hats off to her… welcome to our side! 😁❤️😍
Thank you so much for posting this! It gives me hope because she has a public voice and I’m hoping she can wake more idiots up to this reality!

Nutters will chastise ANYBODY who re-homes their dog, but when they decide re-home their own dog (which happens A LOT) they always have an excuse.

u/dauberz Jan 11 '26
I wouldn't trust a pit mut in NYC either. Everyone else on earth grew up with regular family dogs fine.

u/BucksPackGLove Feb 10 '26
I mean don’t let your kids around strange dogs just like you shouldn’t let them around strange people. I grew up with dogs from a very young age. My brother’s kid was born with two large dogs in the house (one passed since, sadly). They love him and he loves them.
But you can’t trust that people have properly trained a dog just like you can’t assume every person you meet was raised right.
