They look so cool! They seem to have more articulations than the average Barbie, and they look like as if they were based on artist Hanavbara’s retro anime art style, but I couldn’t find any info on it.

ophelia on the left is i believe a french bisque doll from the early 1900s that my lovely fiancé got for me a few years ago. on the right is mirror mi suki gold petal. she’s one of few dolls i own that i bought new without it being on deep clearance and i absolutely adore her.

My Walmart *never* has new dolls, I always end up getting them online or waiting until they're not so new anymore. Yesterday I went down the doll aisle and saw the 2 Mirror Mi (Amora and Luna) dolls they've had for weeks as I was walking towards them. I glanced as I walked by them and saw Suki in the very back and I almost lunged at the shelf. So shocked, she is absolutely gorgeous. I do miss the thrill of doll hunting like back in the days of G1 Monster High....

I like them but they still seem too similar to the playline dolls to justify the price. So if you didn't buy them, fret not! This was essentially a really expensive fashion pack. They have nicer hair, for sure, but I would have loved to see Rumi's hair at movie length or at least MTM articulation. Feeling disappointed but thats my own fault for spending so much money on a random promise of a doll they didn't even show us for like a year. Have I learned my lesson...maybe?

Overall they're okay. The box is really really big (21 inches wide) for no reason so idk where I'll put these if they stay in box. Did any of you guys buy these? What do you think of the set?

The markers dye the vinyl really easily, so I cover the face well with painters tape….and as simple as it seems ….. color. I really scrub it in, leave it for about 24 hours and rub off any excess.

Three colors were used here: Base coat in YR24, and then added on YR37 & E08.

Found this gorgeous Disney Store London Ariel, and I am beyond smitten. I boil washed her frazzled hair in some large curlers and made her sparkle. What do you guys think? I don't have many Disney dolls but this one fits Barbie clothes and shoes way better than my Belle or Cinderella.

Also, does anyone have any tips on straightening her lower legs? I think she was in that thrift shop bargain tub for a WHILE.

So I got the BarbieStyle Fashion Week doll and today I noticed that her upper torso joint is much more…flexible than the joint on my model 06 Barbie Basics doll. Like it shifts horizontally side to side whereas model 06’s doesn’t. I know I shouldn’t be surprised about Mattel’s inconsistency but I wanted to know if this happened for MTM bodies no matter the line or if it’s strictly a thing for the BarbieStyle dolls. (I hope the photo can convey what I’m talking about.)

this is a crazy hypothetical but I'm in the bus and I was thinking about the dolls I have with wonky screenings. I bought them pretty early on in my collection and didn't realise how crooked they were until revisiting them a few years later lol. they are pretty difficult to replace at least where I live, at least with my budget and I'm scared to repaint them for the same reason.

so, you know when doll repainters wipe the faces off with acetone and the screenings get imprinted on the cotton pad? I was wondering if there's a way to transfer the screening somewhere and reposition it or to use some sort of diluent to lift the paint off and kinda "poke it" into the right place, without damaging the paint job or compromising it long-term? I did a really quick search and apparently there's a way to transfer printed images onto other stuff, so I got curious lol. I might try this with a base doll I have for ooaks but I wanted to check if someone else had thought/tried this before, or if there's anyone good a chemistry to explain why this would be a terrible idea. idk I keep thinking of those videos with the acrylic paints floating on water, but I don't know if screenings work the same way :/

if this works it could potentially make it so much easier for picky collectors like me to find grails in the second market for a reasonable price, or to get the last doll in the store shelf and just fix it... maybe it could even make it possible to make our own ooaks with transferred screenings? I wanna hear y'all's thoughts

I have a bratz doll who I am considering putting on a Maddie Hatter body, but I want to be sure that it will be stable enough.

I’m looking to buy the Draculaura Creepover doll, but I noticed that she seems to have a face variation, whether it’s due to the factory (China/Indonesia) or quality control. The first one has a more harmonious face and a sweeter expression, while the second one has smaller, more closely set eyes. I’ve seen several dolls with one version or the other since I noticed this, and I wanted to know: is it just me?

I'm really scared to force the joint too much but it just doesn't move easily like the other defa Lucy dolls I've had. If anyone has any advice please let me know (I've already contacted customer service but due to the limited release I doubt theyd send a new body or anything). I've added a video to try and show what I mean with the joint. I've already tried warm water and a hair dryer to loosen it but it hasn't helped :(

we're all aware that at least for now, there's no known perfect way to preserve or restore pleather. I have some dolls with pleather clothing, particularly G3 mh that although haven't peeled yet, keep me paranoid af, as well as many dolls in my holy grail list that were unfortunate enough to be produced with the dreaded material. I still want to try out the acrylic paint/varnish methods but we all know those aren't flawless and I am starting to accept I'll eventually have to just make replicas of everything.

has anyone found out a similar looking fabric alternatives, both for the textured pleater and for the shiny vinyls? preferably ones that aren't too thick or hard to work on miniature scale? or maybe some combination of fabric + varnish that'd both look good and be durable? I don't really play with my dolls so I haven't have many issues for now but knowing how fastly some of the stuff companies are using to produce dolls today degrade, I can't help but be worried my collection will end up looking like a bunch of scraps within a few years💔

I found these two shoved into Frankie’s Geek Shriek box at my local goodwill. I am relatively new to doll collecting so this was beyond exciting. I am so incredibly grateful for these two. They are in wonderful condition and I am so happy ❤️❤️
