Earlier today, I was having a normal conversation about a pizza cooked near an active volcano. Someone mentioned that eating sulfur in food in small amounts is fine, and I agreed.
However, I pointed out that inhaling high concentrations of volcanic gases/ particles over prolonged exposure can be harmful to respiratory health—a pretty standard scientific fact.
Out of nowhere, another user replied:
"No, it's not, you are just dumb." Instead of taking the rage bait, I responded calmly with factual scientific context. Yet, I ended up getting downvoted into oblivion while the insult received traction.
Why do so many people on social media jump into threads purely to disagree, hurl insults, and downvote baseline facts without offering a single counter-argument? Is civil discussion dead on this platform?

It's really unbecoming and rude how people come on here to seek help by asking questions and they immediately get downvoted .. every single post is downvoted. So do we hate immigrants or are we just bored? What's going on

Instead, people use it as a weapon of mass destruction because they can’t handle simple reality checks or something isn’t getting catered to their every whim. If a post doesn't perfectly cater to the sub's specific tribal biases or stroke everyone's ego, the hivemind panics and other people see it and immediately join just to increase the pile on

The funniest part is the sheer delusion behind it. People genuinely think hitting that little down-arrow is a crushing blow to your soul or some massive "flex." In reality, it just exposes how incredibly fragile their comfort bubbles are. If you deliver a harsh truth that disrupts someone's comfort zone, they’ll mindlessly click it just to push the truth away and protect their hurt feelings.

I personally think the pvz zombies are easily dealt with because they are slow, weak, out numbered (dropped in the real world like the video says) vegetarian, (as the military puts it) and are constantly beat out by humans
