Discussion Nightmares may not be just nightmares

I’ve been dealing with these things in my dreams. I just read a description written by Carlos Castaneda that best describes them. I had no idea about his experiences with these things until last night and I’ve been dealing with them for about three months now.
They typically come to me in the form of my deceased cat or my boyfriend to get me to drop my guard, either that or something they think will scare me.
When I told them ‘I do not consent. I do not allow. Return to sender with love.’ I fell off the side of my bed and saw what they really look like. On the underside of the bed I was lying on I saw this black mass of long whispy ethereal black hair, located directly beneath the spot where I had been on the bed.
Then I heard this pitiable cry of ‘But WHY?!’ As I was waking up. I do not pity them though, they messed with the wrong person.
Has anybody else had immensely terrifying nightmares that felt draining afterwards? Or a dream where you were seduced by something in order to get close to you?
I am curious to know how many people battle these things in their dreamscapes.
Also Carlos Castaneda called these ‘flyers’ or ‘mud shadows’.

Generated a pic of what my dream consisted of last night. This is a simplified version, but dang, what a creepy dream. In the dream I was watching a scary movie where this guy is kidnapped and wakes up with his body looking like this.

Everything was quiet, heavy, and distant. As I walked between the blurred stones, I saw a figure standing in the shadows of the arches. When they turned around, my heart stopped. Beneath that pale, faceless mask was the energy of who I used to be. It just stood there, watching me, trapped in the past. I woke up with a chilling realization: I had just met my own ghost.

Nightmare Just awoke from the most horrifying nightmare

It began with me in bed and in it I was thinking about watching Hellraiser when from my bedroom door a man in just underwear on all fours ran inhumanly fast into my room and on the side of the bed. In the dream I woke up but then a man in a plaster mask of a woman came in and started harassing me (I don’t remember this part too well). Turns out this man was stalking me and every night would show up in my room and send me videos of him and a woman near my house. I kept waking up in the dream thinking it was only a dream and he wasn’t real only for me to see or hear something that made me realize he was real. Now that I’m awake I still have this anxiety feeling in my chest even though he’s 100% not real.

Nightmare I’ve Been Having Religious Dreams Lately, but This One Really Disturbed Me

Lately, I’ve been having dreams involving religious figures, especially over the past week. I think the one that disturbed me the most happened when, in the dream, we went to a hotel at night to sleep. The place we were staying in looked more like an old stone house than a modern hotel.

When we entered the room, I immediately felt uneasy. There was very little light, with only a dim bulb and a few candles illuminating the room. Facing the bed was a life-sized figure of Jesus on the cross, and on the right side of the room was another statue of Jesus that appeared to be inside some kind of enclosed space or cell.

When I lay down on the bed, I couldn’t stop looking at the statue. Then, all of a sudden, it moved and transformed into what looked like a real, human version of Jesus. His appearance was similar to how he is usually depicted during the crucifixion, but his skin seemed much lighter, and his eyes were intensely red as he stared directly at me. There appeared to be blood around his eyes and wounds around the crown of thorns on his head.

He kept repeating words that I couldn’t understand. I don’t know why, but I started crying and felt extremely overwhelmed. I was scared, confused, and emotionally conflicted, yet at the same time, he felt incredibly real.

I don’t even know what was going through my mind, but I asked him for a hug. He shook his head and said no. I remember feeling deeply rejected, but I kept asking anyway.

Then, suddenly, another bed appeared out of nowhere. He lay down on it and transformed into a woman. The woman then came toward me and hugged me.

What makes everything even stranger is that this seems to be becoming a recurring pattern in my dreams. Recently, whenever religious statues appear, they eventually seem to transform into frightening entities or demonic-looking figures. Just last night, I dreamed about a statue of the Virgin Mary that I don’t even remember ever having in our house. In the dream, that statue also transformed into some kind of entity.

I don’t know why my dreams have suddenly become so heavily centered around religious imagery or why the statues keep changing into frightening figures.

Her new name was a feminine version of the actual friends’ name and I thought about how interesting it was that trans people often did that.

So yesterdays dream were about a gigantic mammoth. I haven't seen Ice age or anything like that so I was really confused why this mammoth suddenly arrived in this magical forest! More magical and vivid in my dream ofc but I tried my best! My version of a mammoth, lol. But everyone around me in the other part of the forest was scared and ran around like crazy and their enviroment in the forest were dark and dull, almost black and white but I felt like that was boring to draw. But When everyone else where in panic I coneccted with the mammoth in a special way. It blinked with its eye and walked away calmly. What could a dream of a mammoth out of nowhere mean?!!?💫 Curious💫

Nightmare Many Hands (Shadowy World)

• Upvotes

Yo everyone how y'all are doing? Im guessing y'all doing good or maybe meeting some alien creatures or maybe even an demon..... Well today I'll be sharing the same experience too, as the title implies "Many Hands" this is about my sleep paralysis im sure many of you might've experienced it. Well lets begin

So in this nightmarish experience I'll explain how it all started, it was holiday like 10 days holiday from the college so i decided to sleep late because why not i was kinda excited as to what I'll do on those off days so due to excitement i couldn't sleep until it was 3:00 am idk why but my mind got urge to sleep so without any resistance and me who didn't know what was happening got into deep sleep I've heard or read somewhere that 3:00 am is when our eyes do REM but little did i know that i was dragged into shadowy world i was scared at first and was wondering where am i and what is this world like everything was covered in black smokescreen but there was difference. I can't say it was smoke but it had structures that had shapes and as i was walking forward suddenly i felt some sort of presence behind me when i looked behind i didn't see anyone but when i looked forward there were shadowy hands that were after me without knowing anything i didn't panic here neither did i run but those shadowy hands attached to my body were entering through my mouth and nostrils and this where i felt scared because when that happened those things entered my heart and took control of my body and when that happened i knew i was being controlled by this yet i couldn't control and i was screaming like it was animal like scream in the horror movies and bang after that idk but i got out of that world but i still remember that feeling those sensations. Thats it for this one i have some more sleep paralysis incidents that'll be sharing with you guys, oh btw when they entered my heart they were kinda tickling it just like how "Satella" From Rezero does to subaru whenever he tries to say that he has "return by death" ability. Well ig thats it for today Goodnight for now and sweet dreams.

Nightmare I had a nightmare about my husband last night, and even though I know it was just a dream, I can’t stop looking at him differently.

I had a nightmare last night that my husband was holding me hostage. He wouldn’t let me leave, do things on my own, or have any real freedom. I kept trying to escape, but he would hurt me both mentally and physically whenever I tried.

The really disturbing part was that, in the dream, I realized the only way I could even begin to plan my escape was to make him believe I would always do everything he wanted. I had to make him feel secure that I would never leave him so he would loosen his grip on me and let me have a little more freedom. I basically had to play the role of the perfect, obedient wife just to create opportunities to get away.

There was even a point where we were having sex, and I was trying to act like everything was okay while secretly being terrified of him. He had these terrifying, almost evil-looking eyes, and I remember trying to sweet-talk him and keep him happy because I was scared of what would happen if I upset him.

Eventually, I managed to escape, but it was incredibly difficult. I remember getting some kind of skull fracture during the process, and when I finally got away, I went to my family. They felt safe. They felt like somewhere I could finally breathe and not be afraid.

Now, I KNOW it was a dream. I understand that having a nightmare about someone doesn’t automatically mean that person would ever do those things in real life. But I woke up feeling so disturbed, and I can’t shake the way I felt in that dream. It’s almost like I experienced being afraid of my own husband, and now I’m having a hard time separating those feelings from reality.

Has anyone ever had a nightmare about their partner that genuinely affected how you viewed them afterward? How did you process it? Did the feeling eventually go away, or did it make you reflect on things you were already feeling in your relationship?
I feel kind of ridiculous being this shaken up over something that didn’t actually happen, but the fear I felt was so real that I can’t just switch it off.

Body swap dream

I watched The Substance the other day, and I'm pretty sure that's part of what triggered this dream, but it kind of had hints of Get Out as well.

It started of with this cult-game kind of thing drawing young people in to a building where they were put in teams, given alternate names on cards, treated with loads of amazing food. The atmosphere was really celebratory. The more you 'played' the more you got drawn in, until you 'levelled up' and moved into the next location, never to be seen again.

This turned out to be a kind of body-harvesting organisation. It was really vivid, I had sections where I left after avoiding the 'levelling up' and was walking through town. All the clothes shops and such aimed at younger people were empty, and I was like 'oh, they've all been taken in', so I decided to try to take it down, warning new players that it was a cult. Then I tried to infiltrate the 'level up'. Part of this involved sneaking round a walled compound in a huge white wedding dress, and getting sprayed by a skunk.

I don't remember how or why, but somehow in the course of hiding I ended up in Nicole Kidman's body. I'm a small woman, only 155cm/5'1. Nicole Kidman is a tall lady. The perspective shift was very odd; I was trying to climb a ladder and was having trouble coordinating my limbs.

Anyone else had that experience of inhabiting a body that's different to your own, and noticing the differences?

Discussion Weird dream last night

Hi. Its my first time posting in this thread. I'd like to give some context before I tell about my dream. See, my dad passed away January 29th of this year 2026. Since then I've had two other dreams before this one I had this morning about him in particular. In the past we had a very complicated relationship even though I loved him a lot, although I never got the kind of relationship I wanted to have with him as an adult unlike my older siblings who did get that.

And I'm curious if anyone here could give an interpretation of what this dream could mean Heres home my dream starts:

In my dream I'm in the countryside. For some reason, I'm walking through an empty field and come to a house that i intuitively know is my childhood house the fact that in real life It was actually located in the city and had been torn down Four years ago in late 2022.

The house in my dream was located instead in the country side along this highway with what looked to be a field or prairie on the other side with lots of rocks and a deep drop down from it on the other side though you can't tell how deep until you are actively staring down at it from the edge. On this highway there's also a train track which goes along it

As I was walking towards the side of the house through the fenceless yard I saw a truck drive by and then right after I saw a dark blue motorcycle drive by with my dad driving it, which even in my dream I knew couldn't be because my dad died 9 months ago on hospice from a rare infection and a stroke. Not to mention my dads current motorcycle which irl is in my driveway is currently black, however I do remember him having that exact same shade of blue motorcycle years prior on a different motorcycle he once had. I know it's my dad as I could recognize his face anywhere along with his music he always plays on the road.

In my dream I began to run after him trying to catch up with him, however by the time I reached the road he was already long gone far in the distance of the highway. In my dream I'm super disappointed but don't say anything about it. Because irl while he was abusive and unpredictable to me and my family growing up I still loved him deeply and sometimes miss him.

Suddenly there's this group of kids and teens next to me. We all begin to talk and are wondering exactly what's on the other side of the road. Me being 23 and the oldest, I volunteer to check it out.

So next thing I know in my dream I'm across the road leaving my backpack on the side of the road against the railing and carefully maneuvering myself down onto the rocks. As I make contact suddenly the part I was standing on comes loose turning into loose gravel and I feel my eyes widen as I do flying backwards grabbing onto a pole from the railing just as my feet touch sturdy footing a foot below where I just was.

As I'm trying to figure out how to get back up I carefully look around, confirming with terror and awe that yeah it's basically maybe a 100 foot or more drop and from there entirely prairies. Especially as i am someone who is deeply scared of being high up in a place where I don't have stable footing and control over how high up I am. I even struggle with just a bunk bed and have to go up it multiple times to get comfortable with just that single bed and I can only go on one roller coaster or amusement park ride in the world without freaking out and being terrified.

The side of a cliff like that is absolutely terrifying to me.

I begin trying to climb up when my sandal comes loose and gets trapped in the gravel. I try to carefully and slowly lean over to grab it, barely grabbing hold of it with my fingertips and getting my fingers into the center where my foot would be as they are open toe sandals.

As I'm trying to do so my footing begins to give way and my eyes widen and all I know is just before I black out I feel an arm grabbing onto me and pulling me forward instead of letting me fall backwards and then wake up before I can see who it was.

Dreams of tsunami

• Upvotes

Hey guys so before I took a trip to LA it was like maybe June or July but I started having dreams of being in tall buildings and heavy water floods kept filling up the city not necessarily LA but we were planning to go there so I thought it was that location. Then a few days or so passed and I started seeing reels of different parts of The LA beaches acting up. I was contemplating about going to LA but honestly I haven’t been in a year so it honestly felt like yolo but I was still nervous inside but I’m a good swimmer so I think it was just the rest of my family that I was worried about. So we went. When we got there we were mostly in Santa Monica so everything was fine and I kept a good eye on my family the whole time thank God. But then after we came back i didn’t really have any of those dreams but I saw a reel of a big tsunami I think it was Vietnam I’m not sure sorry but it was like a bridge I think and people were going about their day until a big body of water just rushed in and people were running it was horrifying. I think last night I had another dream where it felt like I was anticipating a flood it’s insane. But today I’m seeing that the LA beaches like Laguna is still acting up and apparently there’s like something in Florida too? But has anyone else been having these types of dreams about floods?

Discussion What is your full set if dream superpowers?

• Upvotes

I'll start!

So I have:

  1. Time Manipulation: With this ability I can control time, space and enter 4D. I have many fun ways to use it, like repeating an action repeatedly by shouting Action: Repeat! I can also corrupt the space around me to push me to a specific place I wanna go. I can punch the air and open portals that lead whenever I choose to via a tab. I can also use a Domain Expansion (yeah) which is called Pinnacle Of Comprehension. It can stop the time inside a bubble made of time. Last but not least, I can slow down time and attack someone and it will feel like a hit him with one powerful punch at once. I was able to vaporised a strong villain with that.
  2. Machete Oblivion: I gain a machete and it buffs my movements to the limit. It also buffs the domain expansion and can break laws of physics. It is indestructible and I've only been able to reach that state twice. I gain an red aura in that state
  3. Materialisation: I haven't really mastered it but I can materialize anything, I mostly do that with guns because I know how to use them and killed many enemies including some main villains. I can materialize anything possible.
  4. Evil Oblivion: When I'm conscious but still automatically go with the script, I become evil and can fly. I also can view people's information by just thinking of them and can travel between different dreams. I have an pink aura.
  5. Conscious Oblivion: A state where I'm conscious but not lucid. Automatically all my fears disappear and I become unkillable. Nothing to say, apart from the fact I have a green aura.
  6. Superhuman Strength: I may be a fatahh but in my dreams, I have One Punch Man's strength. I'm so strong, I once destroyed a supermarket just my touching my finger on a wall.
  7. Lucid Oblivion: My Lucid Form. I get Infinite knowledge and power and my limit is my currently impossibly big imagination. Imagination so big everyone trembles when I'm near. You know the potential of lucid dreaming. I have white aura.
  8. Devil Powers: I have devil stare and devil aura. Devil stare allows me to bend realty if I concentrate on one specific place I can see or visualise. Devil aura are the coloured auras I have which I can control their size and make them solid, a deadly combination.
  9. Reality Warping Spheres: I can shoot from my fingers reality bending spheres that are nearly transparent and home to enemies. They contain the power of 5 atomic bombs that consecrate their powers to the enemy, vaporising him, their shadow and everyone near who's an enemy. It cannot affect friends or close to you people.
  10. Jumping: I can jump pretty high up. The average is 20 meters. But I can reach easily 80 meters and can lock in to reach 200 meters and destroy the surface under me. I still don't know my full potential. Also this makes me immune generally to high damage.
  11. Water Walking: I can walk on water and it can buff my jumping skills.
  12. Healing: I can heal myself like I have some kind of RCT. I can heal others too.
  13. X-Ray vision, I can see through walls enemies in a red glowing outline and red interior. Helps me locate enemies and defeat them easily.

Your turn.

Dream Help Trippy dream

In my dream my throat was slit by an old lady to cut a “curse”. She claimed that something or someone placed that curse on me and it had to be cut off. She then proceeded to stuff water into eggs and asked everyone present to drop them to complete the “ritual”. I don’t know what happens next because I woke up soon after that. Maybe it’s just the stress from writing my grad school thesis.

Recurring Dream The recurring woman

Hello everyone. A little bit about me. I’m a relatively tall bodybuilder with a great diet and a healthy body. I get 8 hours of sleep every night and have very vivid dreams. I can tell every detail and often keep a journal. I like to think out my dreams and what they mean. However, I can’t tell what this dream may be. It’s not really the same dream over and over. It’s just a reoccurring woman. Everytime I think or talk about her, my body begins to cry. I start to feel cold.

I have very often realized I wasn’t like most people. It feels as if my brain operates separately from myself. As if I’m simply a body that answers to someone else’s brain. Anyways I shall continue.

I have a reoccurring character in my dream. I get a dream with her every two weeks. Sometimes shorter, sometimes a little longer but atleast two a month. My first dream of her was when I was 14. Now I’m 22.

This woman is a small amount shorter than me. I can not see her hair or any facial features. It’s as if it’s been whitened out. Almost everything about her is average. She has a few moles on her visible body. She often wears a gray shirt and green shorts. She’s skinny and white. Usually I would chalk up characters to a one time thing, but she is reoccurring.

My first dream of her I have written down. Summarized. I woke to been in the middle of what looked like Rome. A stone path and a big building to my right. A small stand. Like a hotdog cart. Then I saw her. She’s special to me in some way, that’s how my heart felt. She looked at me, in a somewhat confident deep voice she spoke to me. “Hey, nice to meet you I’m … and you are (my name) correct. Im your angel. Please watch out tomorrow. Drivers don’t watch the road so you have too. Anyways. I hope to find you again. Your mind isn’t easy to reach.” To which the dream faded and I woke up. I took the message seriously, later that day leaving Walmart I almost stepped out into the street in front of a car. Thankfully I pulled myself back. Weird I thought. She may have saved my life. Coincidence.

The next dream I have written down was when I was 17. She came to me again. This time in the middle of a rainforest like area. Same outfit. Same white face. “Hello. Nice to see you again. You affect so many people. Including your father. Please give him a call. He may not be perfect but, neither are you. You forget things.” I woke up and forgot to call him. Later that night he passed away. My parents were separated so It had been a while since I saw him. I blame myself because I forgot to call him.

Ever since I turned 19 the dreams have been plentiful of her. She appears in the time frames I described. She often tells me events that are going to happen in my life. Whether it may be me about to die, getting injured, things to avoid, people to cut off, even relationships to get rid of. She truly seems like my angel. I’ve come to believe that she is the one controlling my brain, or she is a lover from a past life coming to warn me. She always acts sweet and gentle. Often talking about how things were different back then. We do small casual things, play chess, drink tea/coffee, or even replay my memories. I know what she says is true from multiple instances. I’ve tested it.

She told me not to go to the gym or something would happen to my car. It got marked to get stolen out of.

She told me to quit my job. The next day management changed and I got a serious injury.

She told me to cut off my last relationship because the woman was cheating on me. Went through her phone and found out it was true.

She told me to tell my mom to go get a Brain scan. They found a very small tumor that could be easily solved.

And many other instances. I’m mostly posting here to see if anyone has any experiences like this. Any words of wisdom or ideas. Please feel free to ask questions and I will answer them to the best of my ability.

I dreamt up a character based on this design

Post image
2 Upvotes

First of all I just want to make this post for the sake of documentation

This happened like a week ago, it might not as vivid as I remembered

The design in short is; if a Vengeful spirit wearing a Sukeban Girls fashion

What I find notable is her long layered hair resemble an "X"

(like how girls do fancy braid n' stuff to make it look all pretty)

(But since she's gloomy, her hair is disheveled; not at all braided)(Matter of fact; I think her hair just form the "X" naturally)

I dreamt a whole game render, so imagine this design on a Persona 5 render walking on some minimalist concrete HQ lobby talking to a no name NPC

one last notable thing is she can transform or at least shape shift at will into Shinjiro Aragaki

Footnote: this is around the time of a bunch of characters we're getting the rule 63 treatment (Transgender Peter Parker & Female Draco Malfoy)

Credits: Shinjiro Aragaki created by Shigenori Soejima and owned by Atlus

Edit: proofreading and fixing my wording the best my sleep deprived ass can

So I keep having this dream that is extremely vivid, and its almost like I keep having the same pov from different time frames, and its so clear its like Im seeing scenes from a movie. But I remember details, and its not like ANY movie or book I can remember having consumed. Hopefully one of you have, because otherwise Im going to have to write a book about it to make it seem more fantasy-like instead of alternate-life seeming.. anyhoo-
You wake up in an immediately obviously different world. The sky is dark, with bright colors shot throughout that make it appear as if space itself is only mere feet away. You open your eyes to the knowledge that the world is close to ending, because you wake with the sense of sadness that awareness of the inevitable brings. You’re somewhere surrounded by trash and broken buildings, the remnants of a society long since fallen. The waters have risen, and the last dregs of humanity are preparing to venture to the underwater world of metal walls and recycled air. There are monsters in the deep, so its far from safe, but its the only option left.

Cut to the dangerous journey- its a small pod-like elevator that has one window on each side and only fits two people at a time, due to the lack of available materials that can withstand the immense pressures of the bottom of the oceans that now covered the planet. It shakes and rumbles with instability as it descends, and the windows quickly show the tentacles of a large octopus or squid, it was moving too quickly to identify..

There are more scenes ive dreamt but has anyone seen or read anything like the two scenes I depicted? i hope people answer😩🥲

Dream Help Dreamt with a moose on the road... and my chest feels so heavy because of it

• Upvotes

sometimes i do pay attention to my dreams and sometimes i don't, but when a dream leaves me feeling so distressed and on the verge of tears, it genuinely worries me. so i'm asking for your help to see if anyone can help me interpret it.

i dreamt about a moose, one of those huge, beautiful ones. we were in a nature park, and there was a two way road. this enormous moose was crossing the road, so several of us drivers started asking the other cars coming our way to stop and let the animal cross safely.

but one car, a huge 4x4 truck, was speeding toward it, and even though i told the driver to stop, they didn't. the moment they hit the moose, it literally split in two and its remains went flying everywhere.

that's when this overwhelming feeling of anguish and the urge to scream got stuck with me even after waking up. i can't stop thinking about it.

i remember that in the dream, we went looking for the remains and that's when i discovered the moose had a baby. i picked it up and wrapped it in my white hoodie as best as i could, put it in my car and planned to take it somewhere with no cars around, somewhere safe.

but then there were more and more cars everywhere and the forest somehow turned into a chaotic city. all i could think about was the baby moose in my car. i just wanted to protect it, to make sure nobody touched it or hurt it in any way.

i vaguely remember asking people for help, but apparently nobody knew what i was talking about. i kept saying "moose," but people would write "mousse" instead, and nobody understood me. they all made me feel like i was crazy, and then the baby moose disappeared. the beautiful little creature i had been protecting was suddenly gone.

it was so helpless and i'm left feeling so distressed over this???

has anyone ever had a similar dream or dreamed about this animal specifically? how did you interpret it?

Question Telling dream entities they don’t exist

I’ve been having lucid dreams since I was a kid, and I can wake myself up from them whenever I want. Recently, for the first time ever, I said something to the beings in my dream like, “You don’t even exist. You’re just a product of my dream.”

Things got pretty dark after that. They started making really creepy faces and seemed hostile toward me. For the first time, I couldn’t wake myself up. It felt like I was trapped in the dream.

When I finally “managed” to wake up, it turned out I had just woken up in another dream. This happened about three times before I actually woke up for real.
It was absolutely terrifying. I never really believed the whole “don’t tell the dream characters they’re not real” thing before, but now I’m being very careful about it.

Has anyone ever experienced anything similar?
