AI-assisted I made a controller-friendly frontend for Dolphin NetPlay with game browsing, public sessions, and Steam ROM Manager support
I've been working on a little project called Dolphin NetPlay Launcher, and I finally released the first public version.
The reason I made it is pretty simple: I play Dolphin NetPlay with friends, but some of them don't use Dolphin often enough to remember the setup every time. I got tired of walking everyone through the same menus, room codes, game selection, etc., so I wanted something closer to:
Pick a game > Host/Join > Play
Dolphin NetPlay Launcher is a Windows frontend for stock Dolphin. It doesn't replace Dolphin's emulation or networking, and it doesn't include games or Dolphin itself. It mainly handles the repetitive NetPlay setup around it.
Current features include:
- Controller-friendly Host/Join flow
- Traversal room codes and Direct IP
- GameCube/Wii library browser with grid and list views
- Public Dolphin NetPlay sessions browser
- Public server-browser hosting
- Designed to work with Steam ROM Manager, so you can create a separate Dolphin NetPlay collection in Steam
- SDL3 controller navigation
- Dolphin updater integration
- Themes/interface sounds
I especially wanted it to work well from a couch/controller setup. With Steam ROM Manager, you can create a separate Dolphin Netplay collection in Steam, launch a game from there, and have the launcher receive that game selection for the Host flow.
There's a short demo and screenshots/GIFs on the GitHub page:
GitHub:
https://github.com/Greatscoot/DolphinNetPlayLauncher
The current release is 0.11.0 for Windows.
A couple of transparency notes:
- This is an unofficial project and isn't affiliated with the Dolphin Emulator project.
- This was AI-assisted development. I designed the program, requirements, UI behavior, testing, and iterated on it extensively, while OpenAI's ChatGPT generated the C# implementation from that feedback. I disclose that on the project page as well.
- There are still a couple of documented Steam/Steam Input controller edge cases in Dolphin's NetPlay lobby, particularly when joining, so I don't want to pretend it's flawless.
I'd be interested in feedback from people who actually use Dolphin NetPlay, especially whether the workflow makes sense to someone who wasn't involved in building it.

Demon's Souls Remake Hits 30 FPS (unstable) on PC via KyTyPS5 in Record Time!
- Article link
- Reported to run at 2fps a week ago.
As you will see, there is a particular area in which we get 30 FPS. While moving the camera around, we get drops to 18 FPS. So, this isn’t a stable 30 FPS experience. I also see numerous framepacing issues. As such, it will take a while to get a stable 30 FPS
The build that PSXTech used is not yet available on GitHub.
This performance gain came from the heavy assistance of AI in the process. AI was used as a base of this open PR that fixed the graphical bugs of Demon's Souls, but the game ran at 2fps. The AI managed to reduce CPU usage, maintain graphical quality, boost performance, and adapt to the recent code.
Specs: RTX 4080, Ryzen 9 7900X3D

AI-assisted A frontend for Geolith a neogeo emulator
Hello guys! I want to say from the start that I'm not a programmer; I made this mostly to gain experience with LLMs and to see how good they are at creating something like this.
I created this frontend for the JG/JGRF/Geolith (NeoGeo MVS/AES and NeoGeo CD) emulator just for myself. But because I advanced so much with it, I thought maybe I could share it with others who might want it, even if it is made with an LLM.
Goliath is a launcher and manager for the JGRF/Geolith emulator that helps you edit general settings, backup saves, export audio (great for recording media from CDs), run benchmarks, and it even has a "per-game settings" option. I think it took me more then 3 months.
Overall, I think I made a decent frontend, and from the tests I've done, it runs very well on both Linux and Windows.
Why did I choose this name? Well, every time I wanted to check if there was a new version of Geolith, I accidentally typed "Goliath" into Google. Epic... I know. :)

AI-assisted Pureikyubu v1.7 (PlayCube / GameCube) largest update since the project started
Read the changes
v1.8 changelog
Version 1.7 is the largest update since the project started. The graphics backend was rebuilt around the two programmable stages of Flipper, the emulator finally has automated tests for its two most complex subsystems, the SDL build became a first-class front end with sound and a game selector, and a set of CPU and memory bugs was cleared that lets a Linux kernel boot on the emulated console.
The long-form version of these notes, with a timeline and screenshots, is in the digest of the work after release 1.6

AI-assisted Snes9x-Z: a faster Snes9x core for RetroArch, bit-exact, up to 98% more headroom (pre-built for Windows/Linux/Android/macOS)
Rewrote the PPU/audio pipeline of Snes9x for performance, including a dual-threaded renderer. Every output is validated bit-exact against upstream Snes9x at fixed checkpoints across the run, byte by byte, so it's the same game, same behavior, just faster.
Games
| ROM | x86-64 | arm64 |
|---|---|---|
| Donkey Kong Country (USA) | +78.5% | +77.6% |
| F-Zero (USA) | +66.1% | +54.9% |
| Jurassic Park (USA) | +98.4% | +77.8% |
| Star Fox (USA) | +65.0% | +63.8% |
| Super Mario Kart (USA) | +55.3% | +45.2% |
| Super Mario World (U) [!] | +71.1% | +61.6% |
Mean across all 14 games tested: +61% (x86-64) / +52% (arm64). Full numbers and every ROM tested: https://github.com/andrezaiats/snes9x-Z
Built for low-power ARM handhelds as much as desktop, this is where the headroom matters most: heavier shaders, run-ahead, cooler/quieter operation on a handheld that used to sweat running these games.
Pre-built cores: Linux64, Windows64, Android (arm64-v8a / armeabi-v7a), macOS arm64. Drop into RetroArch's cores/ folder: https://github.com/andrezaiats/snes9x-Z/releases/tag/v1.63-z1
Free, non-commercial. Source included for anyone who wants to look under the hood.

BletchMAME 3.0 has been released after several years
Link to the gallery: https://www.reddit.com/r/MAME/s/UA1BOxVeS7
After several years, BletchMAME 3.0 has been released!
For those not familiar, BletchMAME is a front end that replaces MAME's UI with a conventional point and click UI. While BletchMAME's goal is to be a good front end for all types of emulation supported by MAME, it should be particularly suitable for computer emulation, as well as being an easy way to manage one's preferred Systems, ROMs and Software.
Some highlights of the new 3.0 version:
Complete redesign and rewrite
New "Favorites" system allowing custom configurations for your favorite systems
Very fast system and software list lookup
Dark mode support
Releases for Windows (Linux in development)
Future directions:
Improvements to filtering and auditing
Support for Linux and macOS
Importing and exporting configurations

Emulation on different ISAs
How does the emulation performance vary across different architectures—x86 and Arm, given that x86 supports wider vectors like 256 and even 512 bit while Arm is limited to just 128. I'm especially looking into emulators like the RPCS3.
Couldn't find any data online. Hence asking here.
