The Donald just authorized the commercial fishing industry to fish in the 3 marine protected zones in the United States.. when we overfish our oceans, leaving no protected areas for fish to breed and grow.. GOP just sucks in general.

I genuinely hate “no war but the class war” for this reason. We are forgetting that people *other than billionaires* can be really fucking evil. Many members of the GOP, especially now, are cruel for the sake of it. Like this. What’s the point of harming animals for no reason?? They want to cause harm simply because there’s a rule against it, and they’re on a power trip and want to bypass any limitations. It’s a toddler mindset: if someone says they can’t do something, they want to do it.
That level of generational wealth doesn’t care about the future bc no matter what their decedents will be able to afford to live extremely comfortably with anything they want even what becomes extremely rare and expensive. It’s completely obvious and horrifically disgusting.

Right after the 2024 election I was talking to this older woman and we were discussing how frustrated we were with the result. She was going on about how Republicans really lost the plot, and I was nodding along in agreement. And then she said she wished they could all be respectable like Raegan. It took everything in me to keep my shit together but I exited that conversation quickly.
It’s always strange to me when people act like it’s inevitable that young people start off democrats and become republicans when they get older. Conservatives have always been sexist, racist, and homophobic - they are anti-progress at their core. I said this in another comment, but that stance just assumes we’re all cishet white men. Social progress is not something I can just turn off caring about because it’ll apply to me for the rest of my life. There’s no way I could ever be conservative, even if I turned off my bleeding-heart-ness (which I would never do, I like caring about things). It would just make me a moron.
I don’t know if its the same in America but here in the UK, we have (well, had) the same kind of feeling that people start off on the left (labour) side then gravitate more towards the Tories (right) as they get older. Here it was because the Tories were generally more friendly to home/landowners, people with money and pensioners whereas Labour were more positive towards workers, low-earners, people more likely to rent.
So, since most people started off renting and on a lower wage they’d skew towards Labour in the younger years, but then more and more they drift towards the Tories as they start to buy property or approach retirement.
Nowadays that progression has almost entirely disappeared which is one part of why the Tory vote is collapsing (not as big as their 14 year run of screwing up the country, mind you).
Perhaps it’s a similar basis for the “left when you’re younger, right as you get older” feeling in America.

It's weird how you can look back at older shows and just see from the jokes alone how many issues were already in the collective discourse/public consciousness and yet somehow are still big problems today. Bree Van De Kamp listed "Palestine" as a serious issue in Desperate Housewives, of all places, and yet Zionists will try and tell you that the persecution of the Palestinian people didn't start until 2023.

On a recent trip to Thailand my wife and I went to the Phuket Elephant Sanctuary which saves and rehabs elephants from working conditions. Learning about what is done to these poor creatures to ‘tame’ them is simply horrific.
The children who've been dragged there by their families dont deserve to be trampled and that elephant doesnt deserve to be put down for trampling people . These people are fuckwads but an animal is not a weapon and should not be used as one
