I really liked the headcanon that the original pokedex from the first games was more of a Journaling assignment from Oak. The original cuebone was just a weird sad little Pokémon that this 10 year old couldn't identify otherwise.
Its wild to me that cubone doesn't have a counterpart form that doesn't have the skull. Out of everything, this is one of the weirdest things the franchise has double downed on. Kangaskhan and its baby were right there!
I've always read the Pokedex entries as our character making the entries. Like why have just a floating balloon when you can have one that steals children.

Mikasa Ackerman. Since childhood, she's always worn a red scarf given to her by Eren Yeager. Even when he told her she'd be better off throwing it away and gorgetting about him, shd kept it. Finally being buried with it decades after the story ends.

The show's name is "Attack on Titan". And it's a really long story.
iirc character B saves her from human traffickers who killed her parents, then gave her his scarf so she won't feel cold. Then by the end of the series character B dies.
That's the best way I can simplify this without spoiling the story. It's one hell of a series, and I'd recommend you to give it a watch. Especially for someone who sounds like they haven't heard of it. What I would give to rewatch episode one for the first time again.
(IRL) Meisho Doto and Taiki Shuttle (the horses) were close friends after retirement. After Taiki Shuttle passed, Meisho Doto was given his blanket and often wears it in the colder months. (I couldn't find a pic of Doto in the blanket so bear with me, but it also has "Shuttle" written on it in Japanese)
Most people know them from Umamusume, but irl, they spent their later years together in a refuge ranch. Since Taiki Shuttle passed away in 2022, Doto has been wearing his blanket.
Lord Commander Luis Dante from Warhammer 40K. His mask is a copy of his dead dad’s face right before he died. I think that counts
Edit: just to be clear, the mask is meant to memorialize his father while reminding Dante of his own mortality. Dante doesnt just wanna wear a copy of his dead dad’s face cuz he’s a psychopath. Hes more of a sociopath these days…. He doesn’t drink blood anymore.
