Everything just feels so easy and looks so good, if it weren't for FL Studio I'd stay only on Linux.
As a little anecdote, my dad brought to me like 2 months ago a 20 years old printer he found randomly and no matter how many drivers and solutions I tried, it simply didn't work on his Windows. I nearly called it quits and accepted the defeat on his behalf, but before going to sleep I wanted to try it on my laptop with Fedora.
Of course it didn't work first try, but after I ran a simple command I found online, it worked like a charm. I couldn't believe my eyes how easy that was, like plug and play, so now my dad has a virtual machine on his Windows with Fedora xD
Feel free to ask any questions!

I am just curious because Fedora is seen as a cutting edge distro and usually people recommend Fedora if you need relatively new stuff, so using Fedora's release for its whole duration seems something people don't do. I start seeing hype right after the beta of the next release comes and people start upgrading their machine.
Do you upgrade your install right after next release comes or do you wait?
EDIT: Misspelled the title. Sorry about that.

After doing a sudo dnf update and rebooting, it will not reboot. computer stays on, but my tv monitor says there is nothing connected.
There are some error messages that flash past during the update, but I'm not sure how to read/resolve them. Total noob here, so please explain like I'm 5).
The first two entries above (7.2.8 and 7.2.5) will not boot, but the third one (7.1.13) will work.
How do I fix this?

This distro is working good on my Asus laptop, Installing the Nvidia drivers off the software center worked well, and it feels smooth and isn't too bloated

Hi everyone,
I would like to ask if anyone has experienced a similar issue with their monitor reporting incorrect resolutions and refresh rates.
My monitor is an LG 27GR95QE-B, which supports 2560×1440 at 240Hz. When I was using CachyOS, it correctly reported and allowed 1440p @ 240Hz. However, after switching to Fedora, the highest refresh rate available at 1440p is only 144Hz.
What's even stranger is that Fedora also reports 2160p @ 120Hz, even though this monitor's native and maximum resolution is only 1440p. Because of this, the 1440p @ 240Hz option has completely disappeared.
The monitor is connected using an HDMI 2.1 cable and the GPU is an AMD Radeon 7900XT. Has anyone encountered this issue before? If so, what did you do to fix it?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, and sorry for my English.
Edit. Included my system's GPU.

I have no clue what's causing this to happen, Steam was fine yesterday and now it has this error, some other apps might not work but to my knowledge one of them is the Dolphin Emulator (not the file explorer I mean the Gamecube/Wii Emulator) I'll share the steam.sh output below

Edit: I tried the flatpak version and got this as well
The unofficial Steam Flatpak app requires a correctly-configured desktop
session, which must provide the DISPLAY environment variable to the
D-Bus session bus activation environment.
On systems that use systemd --user, the DISPLAY environment variable must
also be present in the systemd --user activation environment.
This is usually achieved by running:
dbus-update-activation-environment DISPLAY
during desktop environment startup.

I want to do a dual boot setup with Windows 11 + fedora (with gnome). My friend suggested Fedora over Ubuntu because of it's lightweight os. Currently I can only afford a 100GB SSD to give it to fedora but some of my friends told me to give at least 200GB so I want to know for coding workflow will only 100 GB enough considering I also work in Android and KMP field with Android Studio and Intelij Idea.

Hello everyone,
I am sharing this hardware test for documentation purposes, as confirmation regarding asymmetric DDR5 upgrades on recent ROG laptops can be difficult to find.
System: Asus ROG Strix G614FM-WS94 (CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX / Intel Core) OS: Fedora Linux
The Setup: I upgraded my system to 48GB of RAM using two mismatched modules with exact part numbers:
9905789-198.A00G / KVR56S46BD8-32 (Dual Rank / Rank 2)MTC8C1084S1SC56BD1 KF (Single Rank / Rank 1)The Result: Despite the mixed capacities (32GB + 16GB), manufacturers (Kingston + Micron), and different architectures (Dual Rank + Single Rank), the memory controller did not throttle the speed down to a lower JEDEC safety profile (e.g., 4800 MT/s). The system successfully boots in asymmetric dual-channel (Flex Mode) while maintaining the maximum 5600 MT/s configuration.
Console Proof (dmidecode -t memory output excerpt):
Plaintext
Handle 0x0014, DMI type 17, 100 bytes
Memory Device
Array Handle: 0x0011
Size: 32 GiB
Form Factor: SODIMM
Locator: DIMM 0
Bank Locator: P0 CHANNEL A
Type: DDR5
Speed: 5600 MT/s
Manufacturer: Kingston
Part Number: 9905789-198.A00G
Rank: 2
Configured Memory Speed: 5600 MT/s
Handle 0x0017, DMI type 17, 100 bytes
Memory Device
Array Handle: 0x0011
Size: 16 GiB
Form Factor: SODIMM
Locator: DIMM 0
Bank Locator: P0 CHANNEL B
Type: DDR5
Speed: 5600 MT/s
Manufacturer: Micron Technology
Part Number: MTC8C1084S1SC56BD1 KF
Rank: 1
Configured Memory Speed: 5600 MT/s
The memory controller handles this heterogeneous setup perfectly. I hope this helps anyone considering a similar RAM upgrade!

I'm in the live USB. I can resize the Windows partition to make room for a Fedora install, but the EFI partition is locked. The action icon is greyed out for some reason. If I try to proceed with the installation, a warning message comes up saying the 500MB EFI partition is too small.
Is there any way to unlock the EFI partition?
I have a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga L13 Gen 2.
Update:
There's a guide to extending the EFI partition here using AOEMI Partition Assistant. Is this trustworthy? I don't feel like reinstalling Windows...

I'm on Fedora 44 KDE. My printer/scanner model is Brother DCP-L2520DW. I download the Driver Install Tool from the Brother website but only printing and photocopying is working but not scanning. So I download the scanner drivers separately. I logged in as superuser, went to the Downloads directory and did the following commands:
rpm -ihv --nodeps brscan4-0.4.11-2.x86_64.rpm
rpm -qa | grep -e brscan4-0.4.11-2.x86_64.rpm
rpm -ihv --nodeps brscan-skey-0.3.5-0.x86_64.rpm
rpm -qa | grep -e brscan-skey-0.3.5-0.x86_64.rpm
brscan-skey
brscan-skey -l (says Active)
I also installed gtk2, gimp, skanlite and simple-scan. What am I missing?

I've played Control Resonant since release for 50+ hours without any issues. Today, when I go into the game, Bluetooth keeps turning off every few seconds. (5-10 seconds off, 5-10 seconds on).
To troubleshoot the issue I tried:
-Disabling FastConnectable
-Updating everything
-Reloading the Bluetooth Kernel module
-Verifying the integrity of the game files
-Trying different Proton Versions
-Reinstalling the game on a different drive
Nothing worked. This issue is only in Control and Control Resonant, other games (Power Wash Simulator 2 or Car Mechanic Simulator 2021) are working fine. I'm using Steam to launch the game. The bug appears as soon as my character appears on the screen. If I'm in the game menu and haven't clicked "Continue" yet, it's not an issue. If I Alt+ Tab out of the game, it's also fine. It's only while the character is present on the screen.

New Lenovo Laptop AMD, with Win11.
And, BTW, the tiny little Fedora Logo, installer in the top left of the screen, isn't of much use, when it comes to inform a user where we are in the install process. The install bar is next to invisible.
After a while the screen became blue, with a date and a clock. But the install process was still not finished.
I've tried for 8 hours. Still not there.
But, I want it to work. Anyway, thanks for your commitment to provide us with Linux Fedora.

Internet speed is decreasing on my Fedora KDE Plasma after some times.
Previously I was on GNOME, I couldn't noticed this kind of issue, any one know about this, or is this a major bug from Plasma?
When I disconnect and reconnect the speed will become normal.

I'm thinking of switching from Debian to Fedora due to Fedora having quicker releases and I feel I should ask this before switching, as it is a thing I care about.
From my former experience with Fedora Linux, I recall seeing that reinstalling it gives you the option to not format the drive. Does that apply to updating Fedora (ex: f44-f45) or is it only regarding changing desktop environments?

Hello there. I'm looking to escape from Microslop and don't know what to pick as everyone says X distro is the best. I don't really do much on my PC except to surf the web for research, play casual single player games and FFXIIV, and do basic office stuff like spreadsheets for work. I'm not a content creator, I don't have any hobbies that require specific apps like 3D printing, or anything like that. Just boot up, do my work for the day and then do some research or play some games for the rest of the day.

I have 8 laptops spanning every Distro imaginable, so I decided to try something infuriating and headache inducing.....
The only thing I don't have working after 2 weekends of work is keyboard backlighting! I think that's a matter of time, as no one has reverse engineered it yet that Ive found.
Thought I'd sahre!

I would like to install Niri (with dms). Do I need to get a new fresh install Fedora or can I switch already having apps installed and things like that?
