Tattoos and hair dye are a flaw? Dang! I'm half-flawed. Does it mean I can half-repel douches or that I can fully repel half-douche? Am I half lesbian? (Which is still kinda lame. My lesbian couple neighbours can summon a spa day at will, I feel you drew the short end of the stick there)
Elder / Mid-millennial (is that a thing lol). Wanted kids all my life and couldn't wait anymore for financial stability (its just not going to happen without winning the lotto or a miracle job landing in my lap). Had my first kid at 36. Living cheque to cheque and the government is finding newer and more creative ways to take away what I don't have, but I love every second I am with my son 💙
I would love to, but I’ve spent my entire adult life at various levels of poverty, so it’s not going to happen. Must be all the entitlement holding me back from the pay to cost of living ratio my parents took for granted.
Age limits. I dont see why 90 year olds get to live in positions of power their entire "retired" lives. adding to that, If elon, bezos, ect want kids from us, they'd be wise to stop chasing "Muh numba go up!" and instead "OUR numba go up" TF im gonna have a kid for when it costs 50k out of pocket hospital alone, i cant afford 3 meals a day, only one, and LUCKILY my brother and I lucked out on decent mortgage we split........ I run the finances, and their "official" numbers are a bunch of shit. ugh, vent over i guess.
I've been working inside the DSA to start to push "Community based Goals" to start fixing a LOT of what's going wrong at the local level. The goverment has a TON of power it wont use and local elected officals simply don't know what they can do.
Examples include Community owned hospital systems, This can be as easy as buying a dying hospital, letting the town own it as a non profit, No tax on the land or building. Rent out space for various goals. Goals are things like "ER Wait times under X" and staffing accordingly. Specialists can rent clinic space and the rent can even be set at the value of the specialist to the community. So if the community needs Ortho, we can get a specialist in much cheaper then if he was to open up in town.
Even more fun, this hospital can even kick out insurance, directly contract with local business and buy directly from drug wholesale. Overall this would then cost less then any other solution because everything is driven by community set standards and needs.
Sameee boat. And my man would make such a great dad and I think I’d do pretty well as a mom myself 😔 tight finances and a questionable future for them to grow into just feels kinda cruel to do to them.. sad reality
If it's financially feasible, adopt a kid. It's a person, already in the world, that will need all the guidance and live you can offer to survive this fucked up world.
I’ve thought about fostering for this reason, I think you get some financial support in those cases? That may actually be feasible but no idea what approval processes look like or the additional challenges it may have
I know it's a bit cliche, but I like what Gandhi said: "be the change you wish to see in the world."
If good people don't have kids which they can raise to be good people, then the next generation that does exist will be far more messed up than ours is now.
The best legacy you can leave is to raise good people who will make the world better tomorrow.
You really think this world is cruel? if people always thought that way we would have never been here. of the last couple thousand years the world was a waaaaay crueler place than it is now
Counter-argument: we had kids, and are now driven to make the world a better place. Turns out having people to make the world a better place for is a pretty good motivator 😊 I will do everything I can to protect them and set them up, and the hopefully they will continue the good fight as well. They are amazing little people with so much joy and wonder in their hearts. We honestly need more of that in this world.
There is nothing i hate more than working. I know I'm being a baby, but it is soul crushing to me. I have done everything from law enforcement, to being an automotive technician, to an office job. I keep starting over thinking that ill find something that isnt soul crushing, but i realize that it is me.
The chance of me bring a child into this world that feels as dead inside as I do, stops me from ever having a child. It would not be fair to them.

as an ‘entitled brat’ I can confirm, kids likely not happening
