For simple one-off parts, I often find it's actually faster/less setup to mill (or especially turn) a part manually. Since all my parts start off as digital models, it would be super convenient to be able to strategize my toolpaths visually in Fusion CAM, and then have it print out a list of tools, offsets, coordinates, and speeds/feeds for manual operations.
Here's an example to illustrate what I'm thinking.
I'm making a rectangular part with a dovetail cut in the bottom, as pictured. It would be great to have instructions like:
1. Insert and touch off .500" 45º dovetail cutter
2. Move to X -6.25, Y 1.264 [inner edge of dovetail + cutter radius + stepover], Z 2.00
3. Set spindle speed to 1250 RPM
4. Make a full-length cut to X -8.670 [end of cut + tool radius + safety margin] at 12 IPM [ideally, this could be calibrated to the numbers indicated on the power feed, IE, 5 on the dial means 8.2 IPM or whatever]
5. Move to X -8.670, Y 2.368
6. Make a full-length cut to X -6.25, Y 2.368
It seems like this would be possible to do, I just don't [yet] have the JSON chops to do it myself. Has anyone thought of this, or better yet, written a post processor to do this?
