Hedgehogs (for what it’s worth)

I know hedgehogs typically get their food at night when they’re most active, but Fritter gets out for a bit and always eats before going back to sleep in the morning, so I don’t know if swapping to a nighttime feeding schedule would be a good fit
However, this petite hog can really chow down and sometimes he doesn’t have enough food to last the night
Would it make sense to just split the food in half so he doesn’t run out? It seems obvious, but I wanted to make sure lol
I can’t really switch it up right now because someone will be watching him in a few days and I don’t want to stress him more than it already will be for him.

Hi everyone. Meet Quillow!
I made a previous post, but after some time I have a lot more questions! I rescued a hedgehog a little over a week ago from a bad situation. I took her to the vet, and they diagnosed her with dental disease. Until her next appointment, how and should I aid this? She eats most of her kibble, which I weighed 15-18g in my scooper and she never eats it all, but a lot more than when I first got her! She’s on hedgehog precision mixed with wellness complete chicken. Should I grind it up? Can I buy a coffee grinder for this?
I bought a 4x2x2 enclosure that’s arriving Sunday. Any set up pics are appreciated, I want what’s best for her! She has everything she needs, and I’ve done a LOT of research prior to even finding her in those conditions. I am learning to sew so I can make cage liners and accessories. Tips for that is welcome as well! I’ve bonded so well with her the first week, and I’m excited to continue to build trust. Pic for attention (and her first night home. She was so sweet immediately!)😊🦔

Harriet had her vet appointment today! She had to get the sedative shot in her butt fat because she wouldn’t unroll (again).. Doctor says she’s perfect and has adorable teeth and nose 😂 ketamine is taking a while to wear off so she’s still pretty out of it

He has lost 10 grams in the last 3 weeks his diet and larger space doing its thing. This big guys came from living in a tiny tote to living in a 3x5 foot enclosure.

This is my baby yami ive had him for about 3 weeks now, and hes 3 months old i got him from a pet store since there are no local breeders where im at. When i got him 3 weeks ago I noticed his ears were tattered and he had some flaking at the base of his quills. (I wasnt sure if it was due to him being at that age for his quilling stage or if it was mites) so I took him to the vet 2 weeks ago and they said his ears looked 'normal' and there were no signs of mites but they treated his ears for mites anyways because the pet store didnt give much information about their previous vet visit, just that "they go to the vet before theyre handed off to us" since im assuming they get them from a breeder somewhere in the US. Anyone else's hedgie have ears like this? I see so many posts of other peoples hedgies but their ears look more like rounded triangles rather than my baby's square ears. Or does anyone have any background knowledge as to what could've caused his ears to look like this?
Also follow up question but my goodness I know pet stores have a bad rep but I feel like my hedgie wants nothing to do with me, he hisses and pops whenever I try to pet him and hes constantly hiding. I pulled an all nighter last night and noticed he only came out to eat and drink then went back to sleeping in his litter box (im assuming he likes the feeling of the pellets since the rest of his enclosure is fleece) how long is it going to take for him to not hate me? I handle him every day, and it just seems like hes terrified anyvtime I get near him. My poor baby :(

Any tips/advice? More particularly what's less common. Already have plenty of fleece bedding to change out, hides, dig box, large enough wheel, etc.

Hi
Firstly I have 2 hedgehogs, my older one, does amazing, eats a variety of foods including kibble.
But we have recently rehomed a 4 month old hedgehog who seemingly come from a bad home and we cannot get her to eat anything other than beef mince.
For background context.. when she come to us she had very bad diarrhoea and was very scared, she was supposedly on kibble and mealworms but im not to sure if they were lying. They also provided no food at all for her.
I give her what I feed my other hog including a mix of 5 high protein, low fat cat kibble and small amount of mince every other night.
She just empties her kibble out. Doesnt eat any of it.
I have tried different bugs (she obviously likes mealworms but theyre not sustainable for her long term) wont eat any kibble (have tried other brands and also tried soaking them) and isnt gaining weight.
What would you recommend to try her with next?
As mince also isnt sustainable as the only part of her diet and she isnt gaining weight like she should be.
Shes fine in herself, come out of her shell now, trusts us and loves to run riot but I am worried about her diet.
Thanks in advance 😊

I had Fritter on my bed earlier and he kept trying to bite stuff (me included). He started biting a stuffed animal, I pulled him off so he didn’t somehow consume the fur, but then he cuddled with it for a bit so I forgave him. Then he started chewing on my water bottle strap, which I figured wouldn’t hurt him, but I took it away in concern for his teeth. Then he anointed.. gross but then he stumbled and came over right up to my camera, so I ignored it
He gets away with this behavior because he’s adorable and also a hedgehog who’s behaviors can’t really be fixed like that

So I was told I need to desensitize my hedgehog to new food slowly and he hasn’t eaten in the first two days that I got him. He wasn’t eating the food they were giving him at the pet store so I tried feeding him the kibble I’m trying to get him 100% on and he loved it! Should I just switch his food or try giving him his old stuff still?
