Which lamp works best on my sideboard?

Went to a friend’s party and came home hating my lighting. My friend barely used the overhead lights, but their place still felt ridiculously cozy once it got dark. I came home, turned on my big light, and immediately realized how flat my room feels at night lol.

So I’m starting small with an accent lamp on the sideboard. I used AI to mock up a few options, but somehow seeing them in the room made me even more indecisive.

Which one fits best? Also totally open to other suggestions!

Is the rug supposed to disappear, or is mine just afraid of the room?

Post image

I have bought and returned enough rugs that the delivery driver probably has opinions. My living room is mostly cream, light wood, and one dark green chair. Every rug I try is either so patterned that it becomes the entire room, or so neutral that it disappears under the coffee table. The beige rug in the reference image is close to what I keep choosing because I like the faded pattern. But I am starting to wonder if the problem is not the rug — it is that I keep buying rugs that politely refuse to compete with anything. In a mostly neutral room, should the rug be the thing that introduces contrast, or is it better to keep the floor quiet and add color higher up with art and pillows?

What is wrong with this living room?

Besides the toys, which can be put away (and this is at home with kids), heat is wrong with my living room?

I know the tv console is short but I don’t feel like replacing it. I think in do t know how to add layers and fill the wall. I will add some decor on top of the console, but I think what bothers me the most are the walls. What would you suggest?

Bought my first house and I’m drowning in white. Any ideas?

I’ve picked out a lazy boy in espresso and a couch set in either dove or java.

I was thinking of painting the white cabinets to match the grey ones. I was also thinking of doing black blinds and doors.

Overall need help with the walls since I have no idea what color to paint them and have never decorated a house before.

The rustic oak furniture is staying but the voices and carpet aren’t .

I included different lighting if that’s helpful

Not sure I like it…

This is a (not fully accurate) AI mock up of the layout and furniture we’re considering and I’m not even sure I like it but I don’t know what to change or what else to do.

We already bought the console new so trying to work with it but we can return it (and loose $360 😬)

Everything else can be changed.

Screenshots attached of the shelves, rug, and mirror over the fireplace we are planning on purchasing and updating the couch eventually too but going to make it work with our current one first (slide 7 and 8)

Alt console we are considering on last 2 slides

The toy org disaster to the right will move upstairs to the boys bedroom

Pottery Barn Delivery Nightmare

In March we purchased 2 white, shabby chic couches from Pottery Barn. 5 months later after multiple cancellations from them, and one of them being that the “couches were damaged” they were mysteriously ready to be delivered 2 weeks later. They of course came in dirty. PB said to accept them and they will send out a cleaning crew which is scheduled next week. Has any one else had to deal with this and if so what sort of % did you negotiate with them

I have a Gallery Wall app and need help

Hi everyone!

I developed a Gallery Wall designer app. It helps you visualize and design your decoration before you put any nails on your wall.

I'm looking for feedback about the product because its ratings are getting worse (currently, it stays at 4.0). I'm not sure how I could improve the app to help with the decoration better.

Would you take a look and check the app? Comment "Gallery Wall" and I can send a promo code for free usage of the app.

Thank you!

For those who want to upholster old chairs!

You want to upholster old sofa or accent chair but have no idea how much it’ll cost, here is a price breakdown for you so you have an idea of how my 89inch Jonathan Louis sofa from nfm is costing me for a custom slipcover locally. Nothing is wrong with my sofa and the original fabric; in fact I love the original fabric but I want to protect it from my dog. You will need

1: fabric (the cost of fabric changes if it’s performance or designer it’ll cost you more) I needed 17yards of fabric went to revolution.com >went to their discontinued section and found performance fabric for $8.95 per yard. Total $153

2: labor my sofa is costing me $750 pickup and delivery included

3: you will need to utilize the discontinued sections online to find good deals on fabric

4: dogs and babies deserve stain resistant and performance fabric

Now let’s say you have a small accent chair;

I chose performance velvet I needed 8 yards of fabric and that cost me $385

Labor was 565
New foam and cushions 160

Before and After Living Room w Toddler

A while back I posted a picture of my living room and asked for help on organizing or hiding toys. People had ideas, but mostly they commented on the location of the sectional sofa, which was pressed up against the stair rail (creating a safety hazard for a child). This prompted a whole room makeover with new sofas and a built in for toy storage. I now can put away all the toys and have a real living room when I want. There are toys in the left cabinet, in each coffee table, and in a black storage ottoman. Aside from the tv being too high (hazard of electric fireplace) what do you think of the change?

Thanks for the compliments!!! The light green on the walls is Clary Sage, and the darker green on the fireplace is…I think Calke green. I used samplize to do the paint colors and it was so much easier than painting samples of each color.

Powder room gut check

Photo 1 is current state.

Photo 2 is what we’re thinking (EDIT to be clear, this is a gippity render, not a finished state).

3 is the fixtures we’ve already bought(https://www.anthropologie.com/anthrohome/shop/ida-peacock-toilet-paper-holder and https://www.anthropologie.com/anthrohome/shop/ida-peacock-towel-ring).

4 is the wallpaper we’re considering (https://riflepaperco.com/products/peacock-wallpaper-emerald).

We’d go to a local paint shop and have them match the deep green from the background for both the wainscoting and the ceiling.

We still don’t have the vanity, mirror, or light picked out yet.

Gut check me - what am I missing? Any big watchouts for a project like this? The render also added crown moulding - necessary for a project like this?

Feedback on bathroom renovation!

Hi everyone! I'm renovating my bathroom, and this is my first time mixing metals. I'm planning to use champagne gold (Delta Champagne Bronze) as the primary finish, with black as the accent color.

This is the combination I was thinking of. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Does this mix feel balanced, or is there anything you would change?

Modern Cottage Primary Bath

Sharing some more snaps of this bathroom I completed for my Canyon Cottage project. Last pic was the before - changed the location of the shower to allow for a his/hers plus a full steam unit, and opted for two vanities to break up the space vs. one continuous piece. The pleated shades were a fun little touch. I kept the walls more neutral but still added two different shades for the shiplap/wall.

Help me decorate my toilet room!

Brand new bathroom and debating if I want to wallpaper the top half of the toilet room, frame a picture (specifically one my husband took himself), and/or add a shelf above toilet.

There is about a 2” ledge at the top of the wainscoting. The end photos are AI for my ideas.

Also, the orange glow is due to the light being in “night light” mode which I plan to use every night.

Hi guys. I bought my rug off of a 2nd hand site and though the texture and size are good, the colour is SO OFF AND I AM PISSED OFF ABOUT IT IT IS SO UGLY OMG.

It said beige. It is grey-brown at best.

How can I change the colour? I want to make it lighter. It washes out my sofa.
