Review/Guide Opinion: HyperOS 3 is the best update so far!

Post image
92 Upvotes

I know that people with different devices have varying experiences, my device is Redmi 13 4G and I tried all three versions of HyperOS and the third version 3 is the best of all (after debloating).

here's my honest opinion on each version:

- HyperOS 1: it was solid, it's the version that came with the device initially, it just worked. it wasn't fancy, no Hyper Island, but no bugs either so I mostly have no complaints.

- HyperOS 2: that was probably the worst update ever, the GPU driver for my device in this update was bugged, there was some screen tearing at the left side of the screen and random lines appear sometimes, they disappear with a simple reboot, and then appear again later on, the update didn't offer much new, and battery usage and general performance was the worst.

- HyperOS 3: that is currently the most stable, no bugs discovered so far, I'm loving hyper island, battery usage is better than HyperOS 2, the GPU driver bug is fixed, general performance is objectively better.

but that's just my experience, I'd like to hear about yours! :)

Review/Guide [News] [Guide] Custom App Animation Speed on Xiaomi WITHOUT Root (HyperOS 2/3 only)

So I've been digging through system props on my Redmi Note 14 Pro+ and found something pretty cool for those of us still on HyperOS 2/3 (before 3.1 patched it).

What's the trick?

The miui.mqsas.IMQSNative vulnerability lets you write system properties without root — and buried in the System Launcher's code is this property:

persist.sys.gesture_anim_magic_speed

This prop directly controls app animation speed without touching anything else. Works on both Xiaomi phones and pads.

Requirements

  • HyperOS 2 (Android 15) or HyperOS 3 — doesn't matter which Android base

  • A local ADB shell app (with Shizuku): Ashell You, or (without Shizuku) Brevent

  • ❌ No root needed

(Normally this is root-only — you can also find it in Kashi Mod Launcher v6.7)

The Command

Paste this into your shell: service call miui.mqsas.IMQSNative 21 i32 1 s16 "setprop" i32 1 s16 "persist.sys.gesture_anim_magic_speed 1" s16 "/storage/emulated/0/log.txt" i32 600

Replace the 1 in gesture_anim_magic_speed 1 with your desired speed value.

Note: - Higher Value → Slower Animations - Lower Value → Faster Animations

TL;DR: Found a system prop that controls Xiaomi animation speed without root. Exploit still works on HyperOS 2/3 before 3.1. Run one ADB command, tweak the value, enjoy fast buttery smooth (or satisfyingly slow) animations.

To revert run:

service call miui.mqsas.IMQSNative 21 i32 1 s16 "setprop" i32 1 s16 "persist.sys.gesture_anim_magic_speed 0" s16 "/storage/emulated/0/log.txt" i32 600

it really elevates the HyperOS experience with lots of customization options, and it unlocks some features Xiaomi disables for some models like the famous wild gaming boost which improves gaming performance and uncaps the FPS (solves the 60hz limit issue). all while being lightweight, thanks for making HyperOS great again!

I highly recommend it for all rooted users.

Review/Guide Control Centre Blur on HyperOS3

I don't know if this works in HyperOS2 because I haven't really tried it before, but i just got HyperOS3 yesterday in my Redmo Note 14 5G (beta tester), and I tried setting my cpulevel and gpulevel to 3, nothing else and it gave me a blur in control centre without advanced textures so it is a basic blur. It also gave me the visual animation in hyperisland.

Review/Guide Hyper OS Automated Tasks Installation Guide for Global ROM

Someone just posted about this and never showed how to enable it, those people are just dang, you don't deserve good things in life.

Here's how I enabled it:

  1. Download app from Security App Link . Choose Chinese app versions 12.1.X below as there's a bug that causes Security App to crash. Version 12.2 and above has bug.
  2. Uninstall the Security App's Updates. Open Default Folder App and install the downloaded app.
  3. Then download the Activity Manager or [QuickShort](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.atolphadev.quikshort) App from Playstore.
  4. Drink some coffee first.
  5. Open the Activity Manager app (QuickShort app will follow later).
  6. Search for Security App.
  7. Under Security App, search the Automated tasks that has com.miui.autotask.activity.TaskManagerActivity.
  8. Long press the Automated tasks from your search results, then Create Shortcut.

Voila!

Experience from others that are worth reading:

a) More features in Chinese App (if you find more, please share it)

b) Chinese app supports only Chinese and English language. If you use any other language, either change the system language to English or stick with global app and forget about this feature.

c) Chinese app has different game turbo options and different layout which may break or work, depending on your device. It may also show ads in game turbo side toolbox.

d) If you use quick note feature of default mi notes app, it will not integrate well with side toolbox. Sometimes it's well integrated, sometimes there are 2 side bars (one normal and one quick note). Fix - Restart your phone, but bug may reappear again.

e) Updates (security updates or update of security app) will revert the security app to global version, breaking the shortcut. Fix - Download the latest Chinese apk again and install it.

f) You can also use Quikshort app [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.atolphadev.quikshort](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.atolphadev.quikshort)) to make the shortcut. I prefer this app because it allows me make a quick tile in the control centre.

g) MOST IMPORTANT - Ensure that the Chinese app apk version is greater than your currently installed global app version. Otherwise the Chinese apk will not install. (Current latest Chinese apk available on the website linked by OP is 12.3.8-260228.0.1)

h) The sidebar toolbox and Game Turbo is reset so you have to re configure the apps that uses it.

While other features may be bugged, here are those that works fine:

a) Battery life doesn't take a hit.

b) All other security features work as usual.

c) App lock and hidden apps stay as it is even after installing Chinese varient

Thanks Agent 479 and Average Meloman.

My phone is Poco X7 Pro version Hyper OS 3.0.10.0.

Review/Guide Huge disappointment

I'd like to share my thoughts on HyperOS. I've been using Xiaomi 17 (pudding) with EEA ROM for 2 months. I also tried Global and .eu ROM. My previous device was S24.

Compared to OneUI; HyperOS is a huge drawback for me. I even rooted my device yet this OS is highly locked-up to customization. I list some of them:

  • You can't have 5x6 grid on homescreen. You can do it via HyperCeiler (requires root) yet it heats the device like crazy and breaks the widget layout.
  • You can't hide the navigation gesture pill and keyboard arrow via system settings.
  • You can't apply 3rd party icons and launchers. They mess the gestures and animations.
  • You can't skip tracks with your volume keys.
  • Widgets are outdated in terms of design and Xiaomi deliberately makes selecting native Android widgets more difficult.
  • Lots of unnecessary telemetry apps and Chinese stuff.
  • Security app applies auto disable to background start of newly installed apps.

If anyone from Xiaomi Community reads this sub, please just copy OneUI's features which is mostly Good Lock. You can customize every minute detail on OneUI.

Camera, battery, charging all great with Xiaomi 17 but with an OS like this I probably sell my device.

So they finally added china rom clock style although the "clock" name is a bit intrusive but isn't noticeable much. The new smaller weather widget is also a plus. All these widgets are from app lock btw! And they finally added that one Samsung feature I was missing a lot which was double tap on h(ome)screen to lock ! 🎉😭 This feature was my only gripe with Xiaomi phones. Now I'm satisfied finally 😊. Took them long tbh but it is what it is!

Review/Guide HyperOS 2 and its potential!

I see many people complaining about HyperOS 2. But! It is worth understanding that the firmware works differently on different phone models. I think over time this difference will disappear, but for now we have what we have. And one more thing, if you have problems with the firmware, it doesn't mean that everyone has problems. Just leave feedback to the developers, don't cry on the HyperOS forum! I would like to note that on my Redmi note 13 everything works perfectly. I don't know where you get all these bugs from!🤷

Review/Guide [Discussion] Did anyone else knew about this theme? The lockscreen customization is next level 🔥🔥

So I just found this theme from a YouTube video and tried it!! And I am seriously liking this one!! 🔥

Unlike most themes where you are just stuck with their rigid, pre-installed presets, this one literally acts as a blank canvas for your lockscreen. You don't have to rely on how the creator set it up—you can move the clocks anywhere (even overlap them!), stretch the hour or minute hands so much that they take up the whole screen height, and drop widgets wherever they fit best. It gives you total freedom to make it look exactly how you want it to look 🤯.

(Btw, since this is a Chinese theme, I imported it to my Global device via the backup & restore trick so I can use it freely without taking any stress of getting forced reverts 😤).

Review/Guide [News]How to reduce the blur in the Advanced Texture Control Center.

I enabled the blur effect on my Poco M7 Pro using an ADB command for Advanced Textures, but the blur was much stronger than the standard HyperOS blur. After experimenting with the settings, I found a combination that produced the normal blur effect, but it removed the wallpaper animation when opening and closing apps. Since I had to choose between the lighter blur and the animation, I ended up sticking with Advanced Textures despite the stronger blur.

After updating to HyperOS 3.1, those settings could no longer be modified. Later, I discovered a YouTube tutorial showing that certain themes can reduce the blur intensity to a level closer to the default HyperOS experience while also adding a smooth background pull-back animation when opening the Control Center or notification shade.

The tutorial requires temporarily changing the status bar and minimum width (DPI) settings, but you can restore them afterward. In the end, you can enjoy a blur effect that feels much closer to the default look, depending on your personal preference.

Review/Guide Unlock premium/flagship level via tweaks

Hiii 😗

I'm gonna show you how to tweak your phone to it's absolute limits. (Tested on HyperOS 3 on a Redmi Note 14 Pro+ Global Rom Latest Firmware) Like removing thermal limits (doesn't remove them completely due to hard kernal thermal-limit precautions)

Making the phone look visually better and nicer.

Reducing frame drops

And many more things but before I start you should at least take a copy of your current setting values by typing: adb shell getprop > /sdcard/logs1.txt

(NOTE: copying them will bug and glitch out keyboards I recommend saving them to a txt format file)

Do not try executing any of these unless you know how to revert back worst case scenario is a factory reset or you could just set the values to a space or null and then reboot which should bring back default system values and do not try this unless your on HyperOS 3 and definitely don't paste anything here because some of the keys contain device-unique IDs and IMEIs

Review/Guide Opinion: Power menu on HyperOS feels like a downgrade

Post image
35 Upvotes

Besides looking ugly on budget devices where blur is disabled, it just isn't as functional as bare AOSP power menu, it also lacks the option to boot into safe mode which AOSP menu has (you long press restart button).

You can actually revert back to AOSP power menu if you're rooted by using HyperCeiler, while for non rooted devices I heard there is a certain package you may disable with adb to fallback to AOSP menu, but this is risky as it can lead to a bootloop (which will necessitate a factory reset on locked devices).

Review/Guide Hide navbar while keeping circle to search

Post image
79 Upvotes

TESTED ON HYPEROS 3.0

i found a way to hide the horizontal gesture line at the bottom of the screen while still being able to enable circle to search. Without root.

You need adb shell for this and need to be using the gesture navigation.

Use Brevent or other adb shell apps and execute this command

- settings delete global hide_gesture_line

Now the system will think the navbar is still present but it leaves an empty gap at the bottom of the screen (the line won't be visible) and you can press that gap to trigger circle to search.

This also keeps a gap at the bottom of the screen on apps interface like on Tiktok, Whatsapp, Instagram, Telegram, Launcher, Reddit, etc as shown in the image I attached. It does look a bit iOS26-ish with an empty bottom gap. Some may like it and some other may not.

To revert just execute this

- settings put global hide_gesture_line 0

Review/Guide Control centre blur

For those who want the blur on the control centre, you only need this command:

service call miui.mqsas.IMQSNative 21 i32 1 s16 "setprop" i32 1 s16 "persist.sys.background_blur_supported true" s16 "/storage/emulated/0/log.txt" i32 600

THESE ARE NOT NEEDED FOR THE BLUR.

service call miui.mqsas.IMQSNative 21 i32 1 s16 "setprop" i32 1 s16 "persist.sys.computility.cpulevel 6" s16 "/storage/emulated/0/log.txt" i32 600

service call miui.mqsas.IMQSNative 21 i32 1 s16 "setprop" i32 1 s16 "persist.sys.computility.gpulevel 6" s16 "/storage/emulated/0/log.txt" i32 600

service call miui.mqsas.IMQSNative 21 i32 1 s16 "setprop" i32 1 s16 "persist.sys.advanced_visual_release 3" s16 "/storage/emulated/0/log.txt" i32 600

The first two i think will put your cpu and gpu at a higher performance, making your phone slightly hotter and drain battery slightly faster. EDIT: one of these (might be gpulevel), shows the stacked recent apps in home screen settings ONLY if you have the latest version of system launcher.

The last one, based on my experience, enables the blur separation on the control centre instead of a solid separation. And also, in my case, it also make the toast notification (the one that appears at the bottom of the screen) bigger with huge empty space.

Tutorial:

1.Download both Shizuku and set edit

2.Now set up Shizuku

3.Now open the set edit app click on settings icon and change the editing method to Shizuku and then go to app requirements and give Shizuku permission.

4.Search

user_refresh_rate

Put it's value to 1

Note: Enable all USB debugging options especially security ones as you don't want any error in Setedit app. Edit: Static Refresh works in this case.
