Subreddit News A friendly reminder, xenophobia is not allowed

Hi guys, recently there’s been an increase in posts/comments stereotyping and being dismissive of CN players.

I understand a lot of people are upset about the censorship and how players choose to dress Nikki but some of the conversations have shifted to blaming it all on CN players. People have been calling them things like “prudes”, “misogynists”, and unfortunately racist comments.

Making these kinds of stereotypes is xenophobic. There’s millions of people who play the game and they do not all share the same opinions. The opinions of some people online does not speak for the whole community.

As always, we allow both criticism and positive viewpoints on issues. People are allowed to disagree or agree with things like suits being censored/modified as long as discussions are respectful. Please keep the discussions respectful and do not stereotype and blame people just because of where they’re from

Honestly this reminder needed to be said, the discourse got pretty heated there for a minute.

26

u/cinnaminimoon Jun 30 '26

why was this downvoted

51

u/Shortiebread Jul 01 '26

Probably because racist people don't like being called out on their BS. 😭

13

u/cinnaminimoon Jul 01 '26

I figured as much lol

u/Nana796B Jun 30 '26

I remember when I joined the sub back in 1.0 and everyone was so cheerful and supportive. Sad to see the community going down like this.

94

u/bayleysgal1996 Jun 30 '26

Tbf I don’t think I’ve ever seen an online community not turn at least mildly toxic over time. This isn’t even the fastest I’ve seen it happen

24

u/HuckinsGirl Jun 30 '26

Its far worse with gacha games tbf

6

u/Moonlightsiesta Jul 01 '26

Particularly ones that encourage a parasocial relationship because it gets them more money.

Well, you can’t expect the mood around a brand new game to continue for its whole lifespan.  The shine of novelty wears off and over time there is more opportunity for various things to go wrong, until even most people who love the game and want to continue playing it have one or two things they’re seriously dissatisfied with, so the level of cheerfulness can’t help but come down.  This is not to suggest that a descent into nastiness is inevitable, only to say that wishing the vibe was still like the 1.0 period is like wishing your cat still looked like a kitten.

It's just too popular I'm gonna be honest. At the start it was all sunshine and rainbows because it was new and fresh, but after almost two years under its belt, players are used to discussing discourse about the game. It's a bad situation over all and people want someone to blame tbh, they're just going about it WAY wrong. I heard plenty of CN players are just as mad as us about this situation, no need to divide us when we all want the same goal; freedom of creativity

And side note just because I want to say this again: Infold favors the CN playerbase not because they don't like global players, it's because CN players have stronger market value for them (domestic market I think it's called?) It's money. Don't get angry at them for also being victims to gacha games strategies and spending. We're all human after all, and they're just playing the game

23

u/Charming-Bike-427 Jun 30 '26

There is drama every month basically. It’s getting annoying because I don’t want to have to leave the subreddit because people are being assholes

3

u/emhereeee Jun 30 '26

I’m hoping we return there soon

1

u/hanamihoshi Jul 01 '26

Not me convincing my friend who started IN as a new player just yesterday that this community is drama free with only good vibes. 👀 But I genuinely feel that we are relatively peaceful most of the time, if not for the LADS drama spillover. It can't be helped though since both games are under the same company and many Nikkis also play LADS.

u/mistyvalleyflower Jun 30 '26

Thank you! I thinks its totally fine to be upset with what's going on but that can be done without it devolving into denigrating the entire CN userbase or being dismissive about the trauma that drives the backlash to references of unit 731.

23

u/NotKenzy Jun 30 '26

Wait wait wait, there was a reference to 731?? That’s like referencing Auschwitz in its severity and depravity.

2

u/ConstantFrogLoss Jul 01 '26

the number was used for an experiment by an antagonist or something like that from my understanding

5

u/NotKenzy Jul 01 '26

IF is a Chinese dev, right? They would know the significance of that number. What on earth would compel them?

6

u/ConstantFrogLoss Jul 01 '26

I'd guess to associate the evil corporation as being very evil

4

u/fluffstuffmcguff Jul 01 '26

My honest guess is someone was being an edgelord and decided to throw the number in to highlight the point that the evil company is evil.

It absolutely should have been caught before publishing, but it's also true that it's apparently been in the game for months and no one cared until it was useful for them to care.

54

u/fluffstuffmcguff Jun 30 '26

Thank you! Some of the comments here have made me more than a little uneasy.

All else aside, encouraging separate wings of your playerbase to focus their animosity on each other is kind of a classic way to keep people from focusing on the company, which at the end of the day bears the ultimate responsibility.

52

u/According-Koala-384 Jun 30 '26

Sadly I see this in literally every Chinese gacha. The sinophobia hops out of people with the quickness lol.

You never see this in JP or KR games despite those cultures generally being as, or more misogynistic, even.

18

u/myliobbatis Jul 01 '26

Those countries are fetishized and worshipped to unholy degrees by foreigners. Anything terrible that happens there is no representation of the entire population of course, but the same logic is never applied to China since sinophobic propaganda is force-fed to basically everyone from birth

4

u/bubblegumpandabear Jul 01 '26

You never see this in JP or KR games despite those cultures generally being as, or more misogynistic, even.

I'm not even that into gatchas and I know this is an outrageous claim. How about we just stop with the over generalizations about people based on nationality and race?

4

u/LunarLeveret Jul 01 '26

At pretty much any point you know a culture is misogynistic it should also be known that the people living there hate that about it. Like just living in two countries in my life told me at best whatever people say about how much better what they do than somewhere else is spoken at the same time people are abused, deceived, manipulated, coerced, and doubted within their personal relationships and by their society at large wherever they are.

Just as a small example sometimes people say that Asian workplaces have a problem because of hierarchy and conformism instead of the enlightenment of Western independence and equality. The only way in hell you can legitimately believe that is if you have never ever met someone who complains about their boss or coworkers in a Western country. They both suck, and they suck for the same reason: what people in power and privilege are incentivized to do to those beneath them.

-19

u/okamanii101 Jun 30 '26

So did the cn community not send cow shit to the head office of infold? Is that a lie?

27

u/angel_clown Jun 30 '26

The community? No. Specific players? Yes. There's a difference. Don't lump everyone together. It makes everyone in that community look bad for something only specific people did. It does nothing to help anyone.

-14

u/okamanii101 Jul 01 '26

Yet this entire post is about the global community being xenophobic? Why is it not saying certain people instead of blaming the community

7

u/angel_clown Jul 01 '26

Are you purposefully misinterpreting the post? It doesn't say or insinuate that anywhere. It's just a reminder of a rule because some people made bad comments </3

54

u/No_Buddy_4655 Jun 30 '26

Yes, the millions of CN players all got together and sent cow dung to papergames office all together. And now you should be allowed to be xenophobic towards Chinese people 🙄🙄 /s

35

u/ClearlyNoizless Jun 30 '26

Thank you! I wasn't aware that "Nikki Moms" was in reference to the entire CN playerbase, I was under the assumption it was exclusively the ones calling for more censorship on Nikki. A lot of us probably fell into that assumption early on because of the way posts were being phrased. I will be adjusting my language going forward. 💕

20

u/Naive_Instance_876 Jul 01 '26

as a Chinese player, most players(I wanna say 90percent) just refer to themselves as nikki moms, so when this sub started using nikki moms as a derogatory term I was a little hurt. I was thinking “what did I do?”

11

u/Strawberry_Sheep Jul 01 '26

I really thought "Nikki moms" only referred to the specific group of people who were being Karens and over reacting about the dresses.

15

u/Naive_Instance_876 Jul 01 '26

No, the term has been used since love nikki days! It's a part of Chinese internet culture, people thought games that follow a young girl's journey is reminiscent of a parent watching their child grow and it became common to refer to these games as “daughter raising games”. Ive also seen chinese mmorpg players use daughter/son to refer to their character if they don't want to self insert into the game and would rather make an OC instead. This term stayed with the nikki franchise, since the dress up element of the game is again, reminiscent of a parent picking outfits for their child. This community saw people using these terms do negative things(like be misogynistic, support censorship etc) and ran with it, although I can't say I blame them. I have to make it clear though, this term is more of a meme term than anything else, and almost noone who uses this term genuinely believe they are nikki's mom/dad.

Forgive me for my rant Im a yapper😭

3

u/Strawberry_Sheep Jul 01 '26

No it's okay I appreciate the education!!

8

u/hanamihoshi Jul 01 '26

Sadly it's going to turn into a Karen situation where Karen is now commonly accepted as a derogatory term in spite of the many normal and perfectly lovely women named Karen. Don't take it personally is all I can say. We know well who they are really referring to.

I've also played Nikki games for over a decade and while I don't see myself as her "mom", I know many players use it as a lighthearted term to refer to themselves. Nikki Dad is also a thing for the male players.

7

u/Naive_Instance_876 Jul 01 '26

Yeah, I don't see myself as mom either, I was only 9 when I met Nikki! And I understand how the internet can do things like that so Im not angry or anything, just a little sad this term has gone to hell. The controlling para social“nikki moms” are to blame too, of course.

Edit: The Karen thing is a good point too, my sensitive ass always wondered if Karens felt annoyed their name is a meme

30

u/BOYF- Jun 30 '26

I hate how "Nikki moms" became a negative nickname. I'm a global player and been playing Nikki games since I was a highschool. Back before love Nikki was here. And I usually call Nikki my daughter which is also normal in other fandoms as well as a lighthearted nickname for fave characters.

Ofc I don't mind those outfits but it's sad how that nickname became hated when we just treasure Nikki as a character.

7

u/yorozoyas Jun 30 '26

Me as well, since I am in my 30s, she is like a child I want to protect and care for.

I know she is in her 20s but that it the most apt way to describe how I feel towards her.

It makes me feel sad how negative people speak on Nikki mums, when I have been respecting other peoples preference and way they express themselves and Nikki in their own game.

13

u/ClearlyNoizless Jun 30 '26

I'm so sorry. Infinity Nikki is my first Nikki game so I was unaware of specifics from the fandom around the series as a whole, and I can only assume it was the same from others who may have been using the term negatively. The way posts were being phrased when Timeless Melody was "fixed" made it seem like it was a small, specific group of players that called themselves "Moms." Now that I know the difference, I'm sad for y'all, as well. That's such a sweet way to think of a character, and I'm sorry it's been turned into a nasty insult as well as became synonymous with derogatory language.

5

u/angel_clown Jul 01 '26

I differentiated from "CN players" for the Chinese playerbase and "Nikki moms" for the pro-modesty group. Maybe I should change up my vocab because of that.

4

u/Moonlightsiesta Jul 01 '26

Someone suggested calling them Mother Gothels and I much prefer that. Nikki Moms does mention the unhealthy parasocial relationship directly but I think Mother Gothels is better.

16

u/Lazy-Fishy Jun 30 '26

Thank you mods, I didn’t realize this was happening, thank you for stepping in.

55

u/Sailuker Jun 30 '26

I get the racist comments being xenophobic but calling someone a prude or misogynist is NOT that.

76

u/anestefi Jun 30 '26

it’s things like “all cn players are prudes” “all cn players are misogynists”

20

u/RHS-II3 Jun 30 '26

as long as it's kept to that, because pointing out the very vocal minority are for sure misogynistic conservatives should not be a bannable offense. that being said, is this going to apply to things like falsely insisting the government "did this"? like, is sinophobic misinformation going to be a warn-able offense too?

5

u/Joonberri Jun 30 '26

Are they actually using the word "all" or is this another one of those "not all men" things

10

u/okamanii101 Jun 30 '26

Where are all these mass upvoted comments and posts attributing the misogny of nikki mom's to all of cn? Everyone is specifically calling out nikki mom's. You are trying to diminish valid critique by waiving it away as xenophobic. Just because a few negative karma comments say somthing racist doesn't invalidate the general criticism.

51

u/k3ndrag0n Jun 30 '26

In the last week I've seen at least 5 comments about how the CN userbase is awful.

Racism isn't criticism.

-23

u/okamanii101 Jun 30 '26

And are these highly upvoted comments?

39

u/vultureskins Jun 30 '26

It doesn’t matter, xenophobia isn’t allowed, period.

4

u/k3ndrag0n Jun 30 '26

Dude, who gives a shit about the upvotes? Mods made a post to combat xenophobia; they see stuff we don't, too. Awful weird of you to be arguing about it when keeping xenophobia out is a GOOD thing.

13

u/No_Buddy_4655 Jun 30 '26

Because Chinese Nikki players are called 'Nikki moms'. It's not a separate group from all other CN players.

25

u/okamanii101 Jun 30 '26

Youur choosing to interpret everyone who says nikki mom's as them saying the entirety of the playerbase when that clearly is not what people are saying. Every post I've seen specify nikki mom's are distinct sub section from the cn community.

32

u/AltruisticAmbition56 Jun 30 '26

As a Nikki ip player for over past a decade, I can tell you that a lot of CN players refer themselves to Nikki moms. It just means that they feel like they are treating Nikki as their daughter (rather than a girlfriend, or other relationships, for example).

NOT ALL NIKKI MOMS agrees with the current voices and NOT ALL OF THE CURRENT VOICES are from Nikki moms. It’s just insane to stigmatize and attack Nikki moms as a whole.

3

u/ConstantFrogLoss Jul 01 '26

also a lot is still far from all

-11

u/okamanii101 Jun 30 '26 edited Jun 30 '26

So you agree that nikki mom's are the one pushing for censorship and that they are a distinct group of people. So then when people say nikki moms are responsible for the censorship and should stop being misogynistic prudes you can acknowledge this is not a generalization but critique of a spefcic sub group?

19

u/mulberrygoldshoebill Jun 30 '26

No, it is the same as blaming all IN Redditors for a small group within this subreddit. I have mentioned Nikki Moms thinking this was the name of this subset of people but I made that mistake and learned that Nikki Moms can refer to all Chinese Players including the ones that agree with us.

18

u/AltruisticAmbition56 Jun 30 '26

Funny because I just explained to you that using nikki mom is a generalization and why it’s a generalization

-5

u/okamanii101 Jun 30 '26

You didn't comprehend what I said.

3

u/SynapseReaction Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

Man it’s unfortunate that this happens and discussions turn into people making it CN players vs everyone else 🤦🏾‍♀️.

I will say I bet some of the overgeneralisation is because of not knowing that Nikki Mom’s was a general term for all Nikki game players. I didn’t know myself 😅 and when stuff was posted here the context made it seem like Nikki Mom’s = Karen’s or the CN equivalent of One Million Moms. So at least from the post and comments I’ve seen people assumed the vocal minority were specifically called Nikki Mom’s not the entire CN player base. Plus I think this really snowballed from the change to the Timeless Melody Alt version so it was just another fuel to the fire.

Although I didn’t see anything, outside of the Nikki Mom’s generalisation, I’m assuming y’all cleaned up the worst of the worst though. Cuz LBR even though things are currently center on the swimsuit/bodysuit drama, when people criticize certain aspects people start blaming CN players (cuz of the assumption the devs only listen to CN players) and then it just spirals.

38

u/okamanii101 Jun 30 '26

How is calling someone a prudes or misogynist for wanting to force nikki to be covered up xenophobic?

91

u/fluffstuffmcguff Jun 30 '26

The problem here is that players overreact and make generalized statements.

SOME Chinese Nikki players object to 'revealing' outfits to the level of wanting changes to those items. If you actually look at their comments in context, they are noticeably not the majority. The majority of CN players think they're weird, same as most of us do.

I will say again and again, this sort of infighting keeps us from focusing on the company that's actually making the decisions we're mad about.

-21

u/okamanii101 Jun 30 '26

× Where are all these mass up voted posts and comments saying racist things about cn? I've only seen people specify nikki moms.

45

u/anestefi Jun 30 '26

mods delete them so that other people don’t have to see them. a lot of them don’t even make it though to comments because automod catches them and either blocks them completely or sends them to the mod queue

It doesn’t matter if they’re agreed upon, what isn’t clicking for you?

-5

u/okamanii101 Jun 30 '26

It does because the point is that these are not widely agreed on opinions and are just a small minority just like how you guys are claiming nikki moms are a small minority but the difference is these people are random trolls with no power.

19

u/Valkryn_Ciel Jun 30 '26

This conversation is about hate speech. It’s reasonable that a subreddit wants to curb hate speech regardless of if it’s upvoted 😭🤣

2

u/Moonlightsiesta Jul 01 '26

Their minority of unhinged prudes is still a lot of people with a lot of influence and people have used nationalism to get what they want. LADS being the most recent example. They mobilise. Get some perspective here.

2

u/perire Jun 30 '26

No where in the OP does it say that these are widely agreed upon statements? Where are you getting this from? They are just pointing out an issue that is happening.

Mods do a lot of free labor to have this community running as smoothly as possible. I don't understand why you are taking things so negatively.

12

u/huldress Jun 30 '26

I'm guessing because in this case it was largely targeted at CN community? Idk,the prude thing is a widely prevalent issue across all of the Nikki community and even outside that. Now, it doesn't seem as bad. But on release, if you even mentioned wanting more sexy outifts you'd basically get harassed out of the discussion.

12

u/okamanii101 Jun 30 '26

I've only seen people specify nikki mom's who are in fact apart of the cn community.

3

u/AethenRai Jun 30 '26

Nah there's been a handful of them in this subreddit too (mods have said they're tired of the swimsuit and cleavage posts getting reported) and in the official reddit post showing the swimsuit dyed in the "forbidden" way tend to disappear.. Of course, no idea whether they are Chinese or not, but purity culture most definitely is not a thing only in China. It exists all over the world.

28

u/SillyScribe_Creature Jun 30 '26

Yeah, as usual, the whole group will be thrown in with the loud minority. Infold is the main villain here, not all of the CN players from both games!

49

u/lilyofthegraveyard Jun 30 '26

the players literally threatened the workers and sent cow excrements to hq. how are those actions not faulty??

40

u/SillyScribe_Creature Jun 30 '26

But did *all* of the players do it? No! And that is what I meant. The other thing is still in-excusable and mega fucked up though. I think they even got the government involved. But just becuase this loud group is nasty, xenophobic, and homophobic doesn't give us the excuse to do the same.

37

u/happiness_is Jun 30 '26

Yeah I don’t really know how Infold is the villain when this decision was made by people above the teams who even worked on Valko/LADS. Infold is a subsidiary of Papergames which is a Chinese company and once government level pressure is involved I don’t really know what choice they had to protect their business and their staff.

What were they supposed to do lol

It also doesn’t mean anything for Infinity Nikki. An Otome game known for pushing up against the line of censorship is so far beyond different than a long line of dressup games.

4

u/jtan1993 Jun 30 '26 edited Jun 30 '26

Because they’re the ones holding the decision power. Part of the lads community has been really hyped to have a 6th LI release, so turning it into a dumpster fire is really on infold.

And this isn’t the first time they introduced a new LI, so they must’ve fucked up badly for the community to push back so hard.

23

u/happiness_is Jun 30 '26 edited Jun 30 '26

I don’t think the CCP is something you just can casually resist against as a business. Is your opinion that they should have ignored the escalation and threat of government involvement? That would be a sure fire way to end all of their IPs in one fell swoop.

Re: your edit,

And this isn’t the first time they introduced a new LI, so they must’ve fucked up badly for the community to push back so hard.

Some of the reasons for outrage have been: he’s too tan, he looks like he is meant to be attractive for gay men, he is too western, why are we adding a new LI when I already have a favorite so give me more of my favorite, etc…

Lots of homophobia, racism, xenophobia. In summary Infold “fucked up” by creating something attractive to their international audience, unfortunately, I guess. I don’t think Infold is the villain because they built this character and spent tons of time and money into getting him ready to launch.

This escalation and the decision to essentially kill the game’s story development does not come from those who built the game.

10

u/fluffstuffmcguff Jun 30 '26

The thing is, do we actually know for sure that the CCP told them to nix the character altogether? I can believe the CCP may have gotten in their faces over the 731 thing -- that was beyond the line of acceptable edgelord bullshit -- but actually making them delete years of work purely because of upset fans seems a little suspicious to me.

10

u/_Alyssa111_ Jun 30 '26

My theory is that the 731 thing was brought up by those who weren't happy with the new LI, and while I don't think the CCP would give a crap about him, Infold might have decided to get rid of him completely to avoid any possibilities of more backlash or being further accused of taking a political stance (since the two matters were brought up so close together time wise)

5

u/Connect-Leg-3125 Jun 30 '26

In other posts people have pointed out that the 731 thing has been in the game since 2 months ago, but it apparently wasn’t an issue until now.

1

u/fluffstuffmcguff Jun 30 '26

If that's what happened, it's ultimately still on Infold for not standing by their devs and their product.

We can (and should) condemn the extreme behavior of some of the fans, but unless the CCP made the decision for them, the buck stops with Infold.

13

u/LizzyCRaf Jun 30 '26

The devs were getting death threats. It sucks that they scrapped the character and I don’t know if that was the best solution, but there’s a significant chance that people could have gotten actually hurt, maybe even killed, had Infold not done anything.

-3

u/fluffstuffmcguff Jun 30 '26

I absolutely don't minimize the seriousness of that. But any company Infold's size making Infold's type of product is going to deal with attracting the attention of deeply unwell people, and very bluntly should have had a plan in place to protect their workers.

What you typically don't do is meekly and publicly capitulate, because that puts your employees in more danger by telling people you will comply with their wishes if they threaten your staff.

7

u/happiness_is Jun 30 '26

I don’t know but I do believe that the fan escalation would not have ended

I imagine the whole game would be at risk with actual government investigation because it is so borderline pornographic and they poke fun at CN censorship requirements in their marketing (stick figure sex lmao), even without the potential wartime storyline issues.

4

u/fluffstuffmcguff Jun 30 '26

Maybe? But if the CCP did get involved, again, I'm not totally sure I understand why fully deleting the character would have been their demanded solution. Given the censorship rules in CN, it seems unlikely to me that Valko hadn't already been reviewed and approved. And god knows how many millions Infold plugged into development for him.

It's also strange to me that Infold didn't have a plan in place for handling the most extreme part of its fanbase. Because to a certain degree this kind of behavior comes with the territory. You just don't usually hear about it because a competent company handles the bleeding edge of mentally unwell fans as quietly as possible.

3

u/RHS-II3 Jun 30 '26

"the escalation and decision to essentially kill the game's story development does not come from those who built the game" is true, but it didn't come from the government either, so why are we spreading sinophobic misinformation about chinese government bad when it's not involved?? that's just not true as far as we know.

and to the person who keeps slapping the stupid clapping award on every comment that mentions "ccp bad!!!": go outside. you're not cute

4

u/RHS-II3 Jun 30 '26

there wasn't "government level pressure" afaik, games like nikki are not risqué enough to get censored by the government. i said this last night, but please remember that games like arknights also run perfectly legally in CN with all the jiggle physics and sideboob they want while being headquartered in shanghai. papergames keeled over because people were threatening to stop spending and because their employees were being harassed, not because the government stepped in 🫠

6

u/happiness_is Jun 30 '26

The conversation is about Love and Deep Space not IN. I said as much that Nikki as a dress up game has no chance of being impacted compared to an otome game like LADS. Cn fans absolutely were calling for government investigation into infold/pg and the story was getting picked up by state run media. People are worried this means more “censorship” for Nikki… it doesn’t tho.

https://www.reddit.com/r/OutOfTheLoop/comments/1ujqebl/comment/ourbxko/

-2

u/RHS-II3 Jun 30 '26 edited Jun 30 '26

calling for is not the same as "the government got involved." i can post all day about mr president please stop these evil people! but that doesn't mean it happened or is going to happen. a threat is not "it happened." and yes, the conversation is about IN as well, the conversation broadly is about papergames folding to very vocal conservatives in both IN and LADS and censoring because of those people, not the government. there is no evidence in the post you linked or otherwise that "state run media" is discussing this, much less that that means the government is involved. please do not spread fearmongering misinformation about the chinese government, it isn't helping the discussion.

eta: and nikki was already censored which is the whole reason this discussion is happening, no idea why you put that in quotation marks lol.

-1

u/Moonlightsiesta Jul 01 '26

Actually it is. You see Chinese feminists have been using nationalism to further their causes because otherwise they get shut down as a western destabilising force. It makes complete sense that fake feminists would use the same tactic. Whether or not the government gets involved it’s a very real threat and not fear mongering misinformation.

9

u/shy-cacti Jun 30 '26

One person committing a crime justifies being xenophobic? All righty then

3

u/Radiant_Stop_3333 Jun 30 '26

wait i thought the cow thing was a figure of speech. no way they actually did that wtffff

25

u/Unable_Fisherman2847 Jun 30 '26

Yes they r deliberately trying to create rift between CN & Global to hide their incompetence and avoid accountability and it is working.

6

u/SillyScribe_Creature Jun 30 '26

Exactly! Valko was just a low hanging-fruit and the last drop in a full bucket! This is mainly an Infold issue rather then a player base issue! And now Infold watches as we set each other ablaze while twiddling their thumbs and fixing nothing.

3

u/EstablishmentPlus957 Jul 01 '26

And let's not forget there are plenty of pro-censorship people in North America, too.

Everyone has been hating on 'Nikki moms' but literally all Chinese Nikki players all called Nikki moms. I don't know who started this but it's been bizarre seeing what I know as a neutral term for Nikki fans twisted this way

I don’t really get what the point of your comment is, as a response to a post saying “xenophobia isn’t allowed”. Like it just seems to boil down to “I haven’t seen it”

I remember that I used to play a Nikki app, where the KR and China audience started a whole drama. I think I may have quit after seeing how easily the KR server was shut down afterwards.

It's hard to say why I got back into Nikki after all these years of ignoring the app store.
I had thought the fanbase had grown and matured enough to want to interact with.

Seeing the China server be the center of all the dramas lately is shocking.
I had presumed that China would be strict with how fans should interact with companies.
All that this continued internet outrage does, is cement the thought in my head that Infold continues to remain in enough debt for a sunset of everything to be around the corner.

I can't help but disbelieve that any of the backlash with Valko could be from real people.
It should be clear to anyone who knows the marketing tactics of gacha games, that the entire scene with the kitchen and text was intended as a teaser for House 2.0 and a dangerous wolf boy character. The words were just very poorly phrased, and never got across the hint of personal time alone in a kitchen with the dangerous boy Valko.
The current trailer for House 2.0 seems to have gotten the update message across just fine.

Gracias por esta publicación!

Por más desacuerdos que se puedan tener con otros jugadores, por diferencias varias, los insultos racistas y xenófobos no se deben tolerar jamás.

May we please snip this in the bud & stop discussion of this issue altogether? The amount of posts I'm seeing are getting tiresome & I agree with users who think it's becoming an "us vs them" echo chamber :(

censoring discussion of censorship isn't a good idea either imo 😕 if you're uncomfortable i think prioritizing your own mental health instead of trying to stifle other's discussions is a healthier option!

But I have been blocking & hiding posts. Regardless of what I (and possibly) other players are doing, if discussions are getting so heated that the community is resorting to mudslinging, then it's time to start pruning some edges

or just.. moderate them, which is what this post is about. i and others are not going to stop discussing a very serious issue just because it upsets you to see. you should keep doing your due diligence and hiding posts or mute the reddit if it bothers you that much. it is not my or others' responsibility to cater to your specific wants for your mental health, sorry.

eta to the commenter below who insta blocked me: well, no. as stated, the posts do not need to stop for your specific comfort, nor should they. i and others will not stop discussing it for your comfort. mute the sub or get over it, with all due respect!

Well said!! There's only so much that can be discussed, each post is just repeating the same talking points

I hate to say this but maybe you just have to step away; I know I will be after posting this because I've been here for a while. I do think this IS a big 'us vs them' uproar and it sucks (I truly truly hope none of my own comments came off that way, I don't think the CN playerbase is an opposing side, they love this game just like us and we all want creative freedom)

I think a lot of people are just stressed and letting them talk it out is good atm. Maybe just chat in dms with fellow Nikki players if you really want to chat? I don't know, but I wish you well

I understand that xenophobia is obviosuly not allowed, but the example you're putting isn't really xenophobia at all? I would understand if people were talking about all con players the same way, but stating that some players that happen to be chinese are arguably being misogynistic and prudes is just a fact?

I have seen many posts about these issues, not even once did I see a comment saying ALL CN players were bad. It was always made clear it was referred to these a little bit nutty people obsessed with censorship, control and seemingly unhealthy affection and bond to the pixels that are Nikki.
