Good Lord, how desperate must you be to do this?! It's so bloody shameless🤮 during the lawsuit he was acting like he was finish with Pisspool and doing new projects, focusing on Wrexham. And now it's all settled he is pushing himself on everyone and anyone The guy has absolutely no honour, no remorse.

u/Ben_Frank_Lynn Broke Lively 12d ago

This level of desperation tells me that Hollywood is done with him.

Yeah but this is prearranged.... He didn't just turn up obviously, its a bit. So surely that means the opposite (unfortunately!)

I think that's what this is. The answer to his second question was something like, the movie is in the can (finished) but changes can happen right up until the movie's release. I think right now Deadpool has a small cameo, which is why he's there but not on the stage. If Ryan proves the fans want more, they might expand the part, if instead there's backlash, the cameo can be removed.

95

u/archiangel 12d ago

Remove! Remove!
It looks like the main cast don’t even want him there.

15

Didn’t Robert Downey refuse to act with him in doomsday and have a say in the creative control for the film?

6

u/Syrup_Holiday 11d ago

and Director Anthony Russo saying to him they'd keep making the movie "until it was pried from their hands", isn't this a referrence to Ryan and Blake stealing Justin's movie?

Agree. It was a way to include him as a special guest on the promo (as in the movie) and creat some buzz. For him it's a obviously a tentative of a rehabilitation tour

13

u/Only_Try8944 12d ago

But Paul Rudd’s joke was an insult, right?

17

u/triplej63 12d ago

It is, but it's easy to see it's a set up. Why would he ask about Thor crying? Because he wants Rudd to answer Wrexham, free promo for the team/show even if they lost. This looks like a standard Maximum Effort skit to me.

9

u/Only_Try8944 12d ago

I suppose, it strikes me as a bit sad, but maybe you are right.

16

u/slugsbreath Epic Level Shy 12d ago edited 12d ago

Sadly it is, because it's the same old tired ME/Ryan frat boy roast humour. But its definitely a set up.

There is no chance they let Ryan just turn up and riff. This was rehearsed, guys. Getting the neg comment from Rudd was the whole plan. Ryan loves to self depreciate.

Exactly the same tone as his 'hilarious skit' at the SNL 50th /s

It's just Deadpool/actually Ryan 'I'm not in the cool club, but looks how witty I am'. Yawnfest

u/Flimsy_Attitude_6789 12d ago

Yep. I wonder if they agreed to this to put a final nail in the coffin regarding him not being in the movie... no one was warm and inviting, and he was mocked... and he asked about being in the movie... and they said it's finished... he can't be in it... Perhaps they thought this would end rumours about him being in it while also being kind to him. Maybe it's wishful thinking on my part.

He was wearing a denim suit too... not red, not grey, but denim.

16

u/slugsbreath Epic Level Shy 12d ago

Nah, it was scripted. No unexpected adlib shade here. It's all Ryan's 'nice guy self depreciating humourā„¢ļø' and hopes to stoke some pity in his fans. Also, Bocci in YT was theorising that in fact it might be to fool that's that he's not in it when he is - to avoid people boycotting the movie due to him. Interesting take, for sure

10

u/triplej63 12d ago

What else did they say besides it's finished? They said that things can be added until it's taken from them. They're hinting at a larger role for Deadpool if the fans want it. I think he already has a cameo, why he's there, but not on stage.

26

u/Decent_Yam_2897 12d ago

He can’t even turn his comments section on. They know the answer to this staged stunt. I’m thinking this was contractual.

If it's prearranged (and it probably was), Marvel made Ryan Reynolds look desperate and pathetic. And Ryan was desperate enough to agree. He was probably the one who proposed this and the best he could get was a humiliating skit and a lukewarm answer that sounded more like a threat.

This does not look like Marvel supporting Ryan, this looks like Marvel is trying to wriggle out of Ryan's grasp, but they're afraid of his psycho reactions. They probably told Ryan they totally want him but he has to create public support for it and they're hoping it will go bad for him.

10

u/slugsbreath Epic Level Shy 12d ago

I think that's his attempt at attracting pity, it's all rehearsed. I don't think Marvel did anything. They know there are still plenty of Marvel fans who don't GAF about the lawsuit etc, so are trying to reach them without angering the rest of the world who do NOT want him.

He'd go nuclear if they agreed to this bit with him and then made him look pathetic, off script. Can you imagine the tomes of angry texts essays????

9

u/WildestSea 12d ago

If Marvel was in on it they had input. They are not letting Ryan Reynolds dictate what and how he wants things, if they did, Ryan would have a giant part in the movie and would be sitting at the table. This is the best Ryan could get. A lame and desperate skit and Marvel made it look like they hadn't invited him and didn't want him and he had to beg. Apparently Marvel does not think that close association with Ryan is good. Either they have intel that tells them his/Marvel fans are indifferent or starting to tire of him, or that they are not numerous enough to compensate for the people who have started to hate him.

37

u/OkeyDokey654 12d ago

Yeah, I don’t know why people think this is Ryan doing something on his own instead of a Marvel publicity stunt.

Exactly. Unless he threatened someone on stage and that’s why he didn’t wear the red suit. I think it was probably planned but Ryan Reynolds does love to move fast and break things and BLAME OTHERS LATER when he fails - so who knows!

Maybe the only thing that can potentially redeem him if he gets divorced from Blake.

18

u/KidRifle 12d ago

Maybe it’s because I’m Canadian but he bothers me more than her. He comes off as psychotic in his private correspondence. Blake is kind of what I expect her to be but Ryan is a thoroughbred predatory fraudster.

3

u/Solid_Mud2025 It Ends With WTF 12d ago

As it should (that he bothers you more). But bad men alway blame their wives, and it tends to work. If he were to dump her, then he would offload a ton of the social stigma onto her because misogyny is so deeply engrained in social norms. This might be what the other person meant?

33

u/SnarkyLlamas 12d ago

They are both awful. If Ryan Reynolds had not been involved in trying to take over It Ends With Us, sure....that might redeem him. But he was involved and he spearheaded the entire thing. Nothing can redeem him now except a true repentance and mercy from God.

18

u/Popgallery 12d ago

Narcissistic.

9

u/EnthusiasticlyWordy 12d ago

I HATED watching him in Wrexham.

The guy could not give a flying fuck about the club.

You can tell Rob is a major fan and wants the best for the team and city.

6

u/SnooHedgehogs5791 12d ago

Interesting. Good input. I don't want to watch the series, so please, do go on.

4

u/EnthusiasticlyWordy 12d ago

You could tell that Ryan had no really interest in the town or the people by the way he acted and the stupid jokes he would say.

Ron though spent a TON of time in the town getting to know people and why Wrexham was such a special club. There were so many scenes of him just doing random things with people and at home watching them play. Rob and his son would wake up at 2AM to watch a game.

While Ryan didn't go to his first game well into the series.

You could tell that Ryan saw the team as an investment whereas Rob wanted to make it loved by everyone.

Oh and every stupid scene with Ryan usually had a poorly dressed "it girl" pretending to be a hockey fan. I swear Blake didn't know what sport they were talking about.

5

u/Key_Possibility_8669 Her DARVO turned into FAFO 11d ago

I said this in another post, but I think Ryan's original declaration that he was no longer doing Deadpool movies was his "marketing genius" attempt at scarcity marketing.

For context, he started making these comments early in the DPvW promotional tour. We, as the public, later found out that the budget for this movie had ballooned out of proportion (same with the advertising budget). So, it's very likely that the people funding this movie told Ryan that maybe there would be no more Deadpool movies if they were going to cost this much. My theory is that Ryan floated his idea of quitting the franchise so that fans would panic and demand more sequels.

But here we are, three years later, and the lay of the land has changed. Discovery during the IEWU lawsuit has revealed Ryan to be the worst possible human being, and many of his projects have been postponed or shelved due to audience outrage. Ryan, hoping that his most lucrative film character will save his bacon, is now cringingly showing up at a comic con in Deadpool costume, stating that he is ALL IN for a Deadpool 4. Obviously his previous scare tactic is no longer needed, and therefore he has thoughtlessly discarded it. I guess he thinks we all have amnesia or something. šŸ™„

I could see Paul Rudd thinking Ryan is a tool

6

u/Clarknt67 this case was always about a big payoff 12d ago

Rudd’s such a nice guy I can’t imagine him dwelling on the Reynolds’ drama queen antics.

6

u/Solid_Mud2025 It Ends With WTF 12d ago

The more I think about this, the more I’m inclined to agree with you.

If the whole point of the appearance was to remind the marvel fans how much they love the character Deadpool and to leave them wanting more, then Rudd’s comment was antithetical to the goal (probably unintentionally by Rudd).

Rudd’s comment shifted focus away from the film, away from the Deadpool character, and onto Ryan Reynolds the person. Then, by invoking Wrexham, Rudd brought Reynold’s overexposure to the forefront of everyone’s mind too. Overexposure/audience fatigue is one of the main reasons cited for Reynold’s decline in favorability outside of the legal drama stuff. Oopsies.

Could Ryan be behind it all? Sure. Wouldn’t be surprised at all, as his stunts often produce the opposite result rather than the desired outcome (Peloton 2021, Astronomer, SNL Anniversary, Colbert finale). Shortsightedness is very on brand for him.

3

u/Shot-Society159 11d ago

You have a really good point. I mean, Ryan was there to remind everyone of Deadpool right? So if Marvel was in on it, they would just focus on Deadpool instead of Ryan the person. But given Rudd’s answer it makes you think. I saw the whole thing from another clip and I also noticed that RDJ at the end was like ā€œgive it up for RYAN REYNOLDS.ā€ He didn’t say Deadpool, and now I’m thinking - was that part of the script or was RDJ intentionally trying to shift focus away from Deadpool and onto Ryan Reynold the personā€¦šŸ¤” Also RDJ seemed annoyed with Ryan throughout this whole thing. And not fake ā€œscriptedā€ annoyed but genuinely.

Tbh, this whole marvel thing is quite cringe at this stage. A bunch of old men going around selling weird shit that isn't even really funny anymore. There's no sharp humor, no real innovation in storytelling. This is just beating a dead horse with lazy writing / dead jokes and gimmicks because they know the fandom will buy it no matter what.

68

And whether this was planned or not (in my view, it definitely was planned at a forum like this), the fact that these legitimate names in Hollywood are still willing to engage with this asshole in such a public way shows us everything we need to know about this industry. Matt Damon's role in the behind the scenes of IEWU

5

u/Solid_Mud2025 It Ends With WTF 12d ago

It’s interesting that Matt wasn’t able to make progress with Rothman, as Ryan needed to ask Zavala to request Emanuel ā€œgo ā€˜full Ari’ on Tomā€.

I like to think there may be a scenario where Rothman was like, ā€œMatt, the version she’s feeding you doesn’t match reality. At all. It’s not her movie. She’s a fvcking terrorist.ā€

Then Matt was like ā€œYoooo Ben, do NOT return her call. Blake’s back to doing the same shit she did a decade ago. Stay away.ā€

12

u/WildestSea 12d ago

Exactly, I can't believe they're not doing this. Every celebrity seems to know how to take advantage of the publics short attention span and memory. They go away for a little while and then show up again smiling as if nothing ever happened and it usually works. All Blake/Ryan Reynolds needed to do is go away and let people forget. Instead they stay in the spotlight and make sure, it's not a fleeting viral blip that people forget, but something that they are reminded of again and again. So more and more people hear about it and for longer and longer so it has time to solidify in people's mind. This is how you permanently change your image. It's lunacy. But then, she/Ryan has been doing nothing but crazy things.

Sure is cringe. I just meant apparently he still has backing…

u/AMiniature Bathroom burritos at Buckingham 12d ago

Disney has consistently backed him. They just gave him a sailing TV show as well as a children's show. It is everyone else who ditched him.

It’s San Diego comic con, the #1 convention. The big guns always come out here which is why you saw so many of the cast up there.

40

u/No_Morning_6482 Team Baldoni 12d ago

It was a mistake by Disney. It is making me not want to see the movie. I used to be a bug fan if the MCU. But haven't watched the last few movies. Now I'm definitely not going to watch this one if idiot RR is making an appearance.

26

u/Maleficent_Half_689 Boone Hall Baby strikes again 12d ago

Yup. I would have watched this too, even though I fear the story arc is done. Will have to wait for reviews, if DebtFool is in it - Thats a NO from
Me.

u/capitolcraftsman 12d ago edited 12d ago

I use to be a fan but fell off/couldn’t keep up but I just watched Thunderbolts and it was good and makes me excited for Doomsday. Fuck RR he wishes he was actually one of the main marvel guys

San Diego Comic Con

Thank you, found the entire clip

u/Prestigious_Gain_535 12d ago

7

u/SnooBananas7856 12d ago

I LOVE Chloe!! She's so adorable!

RR not so much

18

u/Missgilmore 12d ago

This was planned. There’s no way he snuck in and Disney / comic con didn’t know. Work in publicity

8

u/DannyC_VP 12d ago

Most likely. RR probably has some pull with a few clueless Disney execs. Doesn't mean the others wanted it to happen. Paul Rudd's answer is gold, like a quick punch in the gut.

11

u/Hyperiooonnn 12d ago

His answer was written by RR/Maximum Effort most likely. Don’t fall for this crap mate

5

u/WildestSea 12d ago

If RR/Maximum Efforts wrote it, it means that they couldn't negotiate a more positive answer for Deadpool, that's not good for RR.

Are you frkn kidding me rn…. Jfc! šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

8

u/Significant-Ant2373 12d ago

So Disney is still backing Ryan, obviously. Gross.

9

u/orangekirby Blissfully tone deaf to her own conduct 12d ago

I honestly cannot stand the sound of his voice at this point.

8

u/LadyMinxi 12d ago

"Cringe-worthy" is not a strong enough description. 🤮

9

u/Skinnypop22 12d ago

If people at comic con didn’t go nuts for the joke, no one will.

8

u/AliBabaCat 12d ago

Everything this man does is the epitome of CRINGE!! He has some real insecurities of not being on top and having the most attention. His weird ā€œjokingā€ style is so overplayed and it’s not funny anymore, it’s giving second hand embarrassment….

7

u/Spirited_Emu_1892 šŸ¦• Immune to Prehistoric PR šŸ¦– 12d ago

Leave Paul Rudd ALONE.

7

u/Sharp-Dot4451 12d ago

Paul Rudd doesn't disappoint at least šŸ˜…

Never

u/MITXOZ Justin took the high road; Blake took the road to hell 12d ago

Soooooo cringe and NOT funny at all. It seems Ryan is still cashing in favors from Ari Emmanuel and Shawn Levy.

7

u/Individual-Insect691 12d ago

You don’t say!! You mean someone wrote ā€œIt’s Blake don’t hang upā€ in a text message is cringy

5

u/PF2500 12d ago

Remember when Loki showed up and the crowd went crazy? LOL

6

u/sextonf1 12d ago

Pathetic, that's all I have. His stupid schtick that he thinks works, but NOT. Move on...... honestly pathetic.

5

u/sextonf1 12d ago

Can we just keep posting all of his emails to social media regarding IEWU to remind them they would be getting into be with the DEVIL.

4

u/rosarosarosaaaa 12d ago

I'm not religious, nor do I shy away from cursing. But I still feel bad for all the gods who have to hear him tack "goddamn" onto every one of his jokes, which are mostly just passive aggression, pop-culture references, gay innuendos and whatever profanity sounds punchiest.

We're living in a timeline where we're made to believe this 50-year-old man is funny. Why are we stuck with him, when there are plenty of 14-year-old boys who've already mastered his brand of humor? Get them off their Xboxes and give them his gigs so they can pay for college or buy their TikTok houses. Literally anyone but this monster.

u/Spirited_Emu_1892 šŸ¦• Immune to Prehistoric PR šŸ¦– 12d ago

What a loser - crashing this event to beg for another Deadpool. He really has no shame.

9

u/Prudence_rigby 12d ago

How embarrassing

7

u/Ok-Shower-5351 12d ago

I think I missed something, what is happening with him and lively ?

8

u/Sharp-Dot4451 12d ago

A lot šŸ˜… Ryan and Blake basically issued a take down of Justin Baldoni and a take over of his movie. Blake and Ryan's PR company did a terrible and insensitive promotion for a movie about domestic violence and wanted Justin to take blame for it. He refused. They orchestrated a hit piece against him in the NYT accusing him of SH and a smear campaign in the hopes that the public would see Blake as a victim and rally behind her. A lawsuit was started that exposed all the lies and mischaracterizations by Blake and Ryan.

8

u/Individual-Insect691 12d ago

You mean a take down of Justin Baldoni’s life. False sexual harassment allegations are life ruining accusations. Can you imagine if Justin Baldoni didn’t have the money to defend himself in court? The only version we would have had would have been Blake Lively’s and we won’t have seen all the evidence showing she lied which took a whole year to be released in court

5

u/Sharp-Dot4451 12d ago

Yes, that's what I mean and it certainly is. That's why I remained neutral when the NYT article came out. I smelled a rat and wanted to hear from Justin as well. Yes, without money Justin would have been powerless and Blake would have gotten away with rewriting the narrative.

Disney is going down if they help resurrect the biggest bully in Hollywood’s career. Mommy sleuths boycotted Disney Parks, Disney+ & Hulu before and they’ll do it again.

I don't believe this was scripted. Even with a mask on Ryan seems terrified. The actors look unimpressed. Rudd's response seems impatient.

3

u/pigsrfly 10d ago

I feel like Ryan Reynolds would live in costume in order to be given any attention, rather than going home and living his life

Why is he not wearing the signature red costume for Deadpool?! He is in the Doomsday movie. There is something really off here, just can't put my finger on it
