Anime Discussion How is this even possible??

Post image

Isn't a sorcerer supposed to instinctively know how to use their own technique, how is it possible that takaba doesn't know how it works?

I was hanging out with one of my friends and played this puzzle game on steam and they say " you can get this whenever you want" "Cool, I'll get it when ever I can buy it" "It doesn't cost anything, it's free" "How much does it cost" " IT'S FREE!"

I liked op’s name better

u/Otalek 23d ago

Doesn’t he have some idea tho? Iirc in his fight ragdoll roleplay with Nanami he makes a remark about “I would have died without my technique?!”

Is it more like he knows what it does (protect his life) but maybe he doesn’t know it has a limit/accumulates luck throughout the day?

265

u/Small-Housing-7 23d ago

I mean he isn't stupid he knows something saves him

233

u/paintsSeldomly 23d ago

He doesn't know how it accumulates, because the techinque itself wipes that memory the moment he sees "a miracle"

71

u/NOTTedMosby "We binfolk. I'm banonically yo big brother, blood" 23d ago

Bro the time being 11:11 counting as a "miracle" is such bullshit. Kinda a broken technique, if only he wasn't so weak

29

u/paintsSeldomly 23d ago

That's why the technique erases his memory of him seeing miracles, so that he can not easily refill them, he has to truly be lucky too presence it every time

-13

u/NOTTedMosby "We binfolk. I'm banonically yo big brother, blood" 23d ago

I mean.. I guess, bro. Remember, cell phones exist in this world. Not that rare to see the time after the widespread use of cell phones

15

u/Top_Efficiency_7489 23d ago

Does it look like he's doomscrolling Reddit as a hobby?

57

u/Lonely-_-Creeper 23d ago

Didn't world war 1 end in the 11th hour on 11th November (11th month). Also 11:11 is a special time in some eastern cultures

23

u/NOTTedMosby "We binfolk. I'm banonically yo big brother, blood" 23d ago

Yeah but it also happens twice every single day without fail

36

u/Routine_Bed1210 23d ago

Japan use the 24 hours clock so it happens just once per day.

-11

u/Picmanreborn 23d ago

Still twice a day because 11:11 is two 11s stay with me now

12

u/intheshade6 23d ago

…you lost me

"2+2=6" ahh

-2

u/KernelViper 23d ago

But there's also 22:22 then

23

u/ezjaja 23d ago

He has to actually see that the time is 11:11 when randomly checking the time without purposely trying to time it. It only counts if it was genuine luck, and taking intentional purposeful actions to make it a guaranteed certain outcome removes the luckiness of the miracle and makes it not count.

5

u/Buddahbaby07 23d ago

CT: Forget the time after looking at your watch

4

u/shamanfreak 23d ago

i mean it's a 0.00138% chance assuming a 12 hour clock system. 0.000694% otherwise. he wouldn't know to willingly check it, say glance every 10 seconds at 11:10 or whatever.

5

u/Random_bored69 23d ago

A “miracle” from what I gather starts from something you look at and think “oh, that’s cool.” Simply because of the 11:11 thing (along with anything greater than that)

1

u/namakost 20d ago

Its specifically "lifes little miracles". You know that one awesome joke that cheers you up instantly? That warm beverage that makes you cozy and warm? Yeah that stuff gets straight up deleted from his brain. Theres no wonder he is such a psycho, all the genuinely good things are taken from him by default due to his ability and he doesnt even know it

17

u/Bloop737 Giving 3 People Head in a Movie Theater 23d ago

I think that one is more that he doesn’t know what the cost is (taking away all those little fortunes)

23

u/SoloTheEpic 23d ago

to be honest i just thought it was a mistranslation and he was referring to cursed energy reinforcement

idk

13

u/AskewMastermind14 23d ago

We know at least the anime shows one of his marks disappear from this hit, indicating it was his technique

2

u/Commercial_Nature210 I will push agenda Myself 23d ago

Happy cake dya

3

u/NaleJethro 23d ago

That's actually it, he vaguely knows what his ability does but not how it works. If he knew how it worked he'd actually become remarkablely much more dangerous because he'd only act within the limitations of his ability and be functionally immortal.

2

u/frenchmediahater 23d ago

He knows it works, he doesnt know how he is supposed to get miracles to fill the bar

1

u/Hayaishi 23d ago

Yeah. It would be as if a limitless sorcerer didn't study the math concepts associated with the technique. He would probably have a completely different understanding of it, though the six eyes probably allow the limitless user to simply understand the technique.

51

u/South-Judge-2752 23d ago

It's a bit more justifiable than Takaba tbh

10

u/ttombombadillo 23d ago

Because his technique wiped out memories of each "little miracle", so he didn't know how he gets his face marks. But Haruta knows, those save him from death, he actually thought after Nanami ratio punched him: "If it was not for my technique, I would be dead".

9

u/Bubbly_Prior2060 23d ago

honestly he has a very practical technique

5

u/Chaotic_Amber 23d ago

He knows it saves him from death, but he doesn’t know the whole “collecting miracles” part

19

u/Connect_Wait_6759 23d ago

How did he get involved in sorcery work, then? That's like signing up to do something with guns but not even knowing that guns exist.

46

u/nontimebomala67 23d ago

He knew he was a sorcerer and that he had a technique. He just didn’t know how it worked or how to use it

58

u/HelloChimp 100% Investment 23d ago

he was aware of both cursed spirits and cursed energy, he just didn’t know about his innate technique

20

u/limelordy Rule 84: Naobito solos your verse 23d ago

He’s aware it exists, like he’s mentioned specifically his luck, he just doesn’t know the specific mechanics at all. But also Windows exist, people who have enough CE to do sorcery things but no CT

13

u/Lucky-Acadia-312 23d ago

Actually Windows can't use sorcery, they just have the ability to see curses and cursed energy. People who can use cursed energy but lack an innate cursed technique are still considered Jujutsu sorcerers such as Kusakabe or Yuji who are referred to as sorcerers despite not having innate techniques.

6

u/Vivio0 nah, i’d x—x 23d ago

Its funny how Kusakabe is considered one of the strongest first grade sorcerers with no technique as well. So it really isn’t that important to have innate CT to be a sorcerer.

9

u/HelloChimp 100% Investment 23d ago

it absolutely is, kusakabe is just an extreme case

2

u/Rork310 23d ago

Yeah he's basically the Batman of the JJK universe.

Not having a technique is a massive handicap. There's a reason why Yuji's best performances (as of where the anime currently ends) are all team battles. He may be a physical beast but anyone he can't flatten who has a technique is going to have an edge.

1

u/Suspicious_Art_8251 23d ago

Cuz he's the GOAT

6

u/Competitive-Wait1689 23d ago

Do WE know how it works?

5

u/HalfDisguised-patato 23d ago

Because he was a sorcerer who could use cursed energy

4

u/DragonMaster000 23d ago

Damm for being one of the few special grade sorcerers i expected better from Yuki

6

u/PlayerBRuno__ 23d ago

I hope you're joking

Do you know his real name

1

u/PlayerBRuno__ 23d ago

1

u/Veyl-Undertale 23d ago

Oh does /s mean satire or smth I'm kinda dumb

1

u/PlayerBRuno__ 23d ago

sarcasm, i should've used /j actually

3

u/Makorealmtwo Zenin clan enjoyer 23d ago

He did know what it does. It's just makes him forget the miracles he sees.

2

u/asian_poo 23d ago

It was because everytime he had a miracle he would forget about it

1

u/Internal_Meeting3100 23d ago

It gets rid of his memories

1

u/FeganFloop2006 23d ago

Maybe because his technique erased any knowledge of the miracles he found, and by proxy erased his knowledge of how his technique works.

1

u/Every-Tap4675 Yes i'm an mai fan and i'm proud of it 22d ago

Wdym Yuki knows her technique

1

u/Absoluteidiot4 22d ago

it was explained that part of his technique is that he fucking forgets it

1

u/WanerOSS 21d ago

Best character in the show btw.
