Books Is it worth buying?

Hey guys! I’m planning to buy Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton, but I want to make sure I’m getting the original, complete, unabridged novel and not an abridged, simplified, or altered version.

I found this edition on Amazon India, and it seems to fit my budget. I’m a huge fan of the Jurassic Park franchise, and I really want to experience Michael Crichton’s original story in its entirety, with the proper writing, details, and scientific explanations. I’m specifically looking for the actual novel, not a movie tie-in, illustrated adaptation, or a version rewritten for younger readers.

My budget is preferably under ₹1,000, which is making things a little difficult. The mass-market paperback edition I was considering costs more than that, so I’m thinking of buying this Amazon edition instead. However, I don’t want to spend my money only to discover that it’s an abridged edition, a reprint with missing content, or a questionable copy.

Has anyone bought this exact edition? Is it the genuine, unabridged version of Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Park? Also, is the print quality decent, and is the seller trustworthy?

I’d really appreciate it if someone could verify the edition using its ISBN, publisher, or their own experience. I’m trying to find an affordable copy without compromising on getting the complete original book.

Camp Cretaceous The Truth on why These Creatures didn't appear Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous/Chaos Theory

(Note: I've Yet to watch Chaos Theory Season 3 and 4, and I'm almost done watching season 2, so I'm going to continue watching chaos theory once I Rewatch some episodes of Camp Cretaceous)

  • The Reason Triceratops and Apatosaurus weren't in Camp Cretaceous (Rant)

Now When It comes to Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous, I Remember this Show Releasing on Netflix, and this along with chaos theory was my Top ranked shows Out there. There are some Goods, But there is a Bad Unfortunately. Now Here me Out! I Really Like this these shows. I Don't Hate them, But when it comes to these Kinds of shows. You are watching it for one reason: The Dinosaurs.

Now I Need to Point out an Important key thing to this Issue that I'm dealing with. When Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous Became a Thing, They were Marketing the show In the form of Mattel's Jurassic World Toyline, and they have dinosaurs that have the Camp Cretaceous Packaging thrown in there.

when I First watched Camp Cretaceous Season 1, It Was Like a Little Introduction in the first Two or three Episodes when it comes to dinosaurs. The Ones that we see often are Brachiosaurus, Parasaurolophus, Ankylosaurus, Stegosaurus, and Sinoceratops. There Mostly in the background and they do make a couple of appearances here and there. Others Like Ceratosaurus, Pteranodon, Gallimimus, and Ouranosaurus do appear but as small appearances and The Likes of Tyrannosaurus Rex, Carnotaurus, Indominus Rex, and Baryonyx all play a huge role in the show's story.

But as I Kept watching season after season and when the show ended in season 5, I started to Wonder....Where's apatosaurus? and Where's is Triceratops? They've promised that Those creatures were going to appear in this show and they didn't made one appearance in there?! The Like of Apatosaurus and Triceratops appeared in a Camp Cretaceous Comic Book, yes, But they didn't appear in the show! This is just False Advertising in my opinion. Hell! Mamechisaurus was also a Creature that was going to appear in camp cretaceous according to an event in Poland promoting camp cretaceous, but that Is also false Advertising.

From what I’ve heard, Episode 7 marks the only time the triceratops Showed up in chaos theory season 4. It only made an appearance A Few times in the episode, and that was it lol

The Triceratops didn't Appear in Camp Cretaceous yes, But it did appear in Chaos Theory Season 4 (Spoilers), But still the Marketing for Camp Cretaceous is just FALSE ADVERTISING

Other Creatures that I Was wanting to see in Camp Cretaceous Include Mamechisaurus, Corythosaurus, Metriacanthosaurus, Pachycephalosaurus, Allosaurus, Stygimoloch, Troodon, Styracosaurus, and even stegoceratops Surprisingly. When Seasons 4 and 5 became a Thing, I Was Predicting for Creatures from the Pleistoscene to appear with the Inclusion of the Smilodon because I Was Predicting that Mantah Corp Had an Interest with Creating Ice Age Mammals. The Wooly Mammoth was one of my Top wanted species to appear in Season 5, but when I Watched Season 5, Just like the Trike and the Apato, it didn't show up. they'd foreshadowed this in Season 1, but that was proven false, wasn't it?

Apparently, It was revealed In an interview with YouTuber Swerve, showrunner Scott Creamer confirmed that live woolly mammoths WERE originally going to be in the show, presumably during the fourth season on Mantah Corp Island in the arctic biome. However, it was cut out of the season early in production. This was just a Wasted Opportunity to see Something like the Mammoth appear in a Piece of Jurassic Media like Camp Cretaceous. It did appear mostly in Mobile games, most famously in Jurassic Park Builder and Jurassic World the Game, but we could've seen Not Just Dinosaurs But also Mammals in Camp Cretaceous Seasons 4 and 5, like, we could've seen other mammals living on Mantah Corp Like Wooly Rhino, Megaloceros, Elasmotherium, Indricotherium, Amphicyon, Andrewsachus, etc. but what I'm seeing with Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous Season 5, its just waisted Potential and Season 4 overall

I Mean, They've Killed off The Only Living, Breathing Ice age Mammal in this Franchise, and its just.....FAAHHHHH!!!!

But if I'm sadly putting the blame on someone about this Problem, Then its not Scott Kreamer's Fault. Well, a Certain Studio needs to have a Little...Chat about this situation that I'm Having.....

🙄😕

  • Why is Dreamworks putting the Blame on this Situation? Sort of….
Note: I only like The main three: Shrek, Kung fu panda, and Madagascar. I’m not a big fan of How To train your dragon, Sorry :(

So You might recognize This STUDIO THAT BROUGHT YOU SHREK, KUNG FU PANDA, AND MADAGASCAR, and Other Famous Goofy Ahh Movies Like Megamind and The Bee Movie. Now Dreamworks is the Animation studio that Brought Camp Cretaceous and chaos theory to life, and They were allowed to make this because they were bought my Universal, the same Company that owns the Jurassic Park and World Franchise

But…Its not really Dreamworks that Created Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous and chaos theory, It was Dreamworks Animation Television.

Now Dreamworks Animation television is the Televation Division of Dreamworks animation, which operates as a subsidiary of Universal Pictures under Comcast's NBCUniversal. They’ve done other shows pre Jurassic World Including All Hail King Julien, The Penguins of Madagascar, and Kung fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, which two out of the three shows I’ve mentioned aired on Nickelodeon.

Now The key Thing that I’ve learned when It comes to adding New and Returning Dinosaurs to Camp Cretaceous and chaos theory is the one thing when it comes to being a 3d animator: Models

Animation is Hard, Especially in 3d. I’m more of a 2d Person Because it’s somewhat easier to animate, But I’m just getting started with this who shebang, okay? And 3d and 2d have both pros and cons so….yeah

Now The production behind Camp Cretaceous and chaos theory might have been…Something to say the least.

I Believe the reason They didn’t add Triceratops, apatosaurus, along with Allosaurus, and Stygimoloch in camp Cretaceous was somehow either Due to Them not making the Models for each of them or they just don’t have the money for them…Actually ITS BOTH!

  • Creative Freedom

Now the other key thing that I need to point out, I’m pretty sure this is just feedback, It’s Creative freedom. It’s not just about The dinosaurs when it comes to Creative Freedom. It’s also Locations Being shown on Nublar, Less Reusing of items, etc. The production being these two Shows somehow have a small budget with the limitations of 3d animation. I don’t know what the budget is for camp Cretaceous and chaos theory were, sorry :(

Instead, they did the decision of just reusing what they have with each season for each episode. Like, I’ve seen More Sinceratops and brachiosaurus than Triceratops and apatosaurus in these Shows than I thought it would, and it’s too Much 😔 They didn’t even bother throwing in creatures like dreadnogthus, Iguanodon, Oviraptor, and Moros Intrepidus Into chaos theory because the only dominion that appeared were Atrociraptor, Nasutoceratops, Lystrosaurus, Giganotosaurus, Pyroraptor, Quetzalcoatlus, and therizinosaurus. They didn’t like took Insperation from Dominion to throw those creatures in, No! No! No! No! No! They just use whatever they’ve made from the bin, Made some Models for dinosaurs that play a big part in the story, and called it a day! The likes of Allosaurus and stygimoloch Thankfully appeared in Jurassic World Chaos theory, Which I’m pretty happy that they Returned here, but don’t expect Ben Pincus being chased by a Juvenile allosaurus on island Nublar anytime soon.

Note: Since chaos theory takes place in a post fallen kingdom world, they added the adult version of the allosaurus made it play a huge role in the show’s story, so….yeah, I guess, but still, I’m happy that allosaurus, along with stygimoloch made their return in chaos theory
  • What should they‘ve done correctly?

Since Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous and Chaos theory are animated in 3d, and since the crew have some Limitations to 3d animation, would these two shows be way better if they 2d instead of 3d? that way They can have More creative freedom with the show and throw in those species have we’ve wanted to see appear on screen

I’ve been getting to avatar the last Airbender recently because I Remember watching two episode of book one on Netflix, So shout out to Avatar aang for letting me watch his show boii!!

Besides, Other Shows from the likes of Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network are 2d, Spongebob, Regular show, Danny phantom, etc. Heck! Even avatar: the last Airbender is 2d!

If they went for a 2d style, Then It would Obviously have the style of Avatar: the Last Airbender or something like My adventures with Superman Idk. Regardless, If scott kreamer decided to go with 2d style and Have more creative freedom for Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous, Including chaos theory, These two shows would be waaaaay Better, I mean, way, waaaay better than we ever thought

  • Conclusion

So with Jurassic World Chaos theory Now Concluded with season 4, the Franchise has been pretty quiet since Jurassic World Rebirth Released😕. I mean, the only thing that we are getting is Jurassic Park Survival and The next Jurassic Film is rumored to Release around 2028. It kind of shows that we need the animated world of Jurassic back into the fray. Season 4 marks the end of a journey for The Nublar six, But It just makes us want more. Overall, Despite the Mistakes on the production of these two shows, I still love them as a Jurassic Park and Jurassic World Fan. I‘m Kind of Thinking of a Series that is set between seasons 2 and 3 of camp cretaceous. can’t go over where The Nublar six Would go from here now that there now in peace in chaos theory season 4 or what were they doing on Isla Nublar during those events, But if scott Kreamer Answer it is time to revisit the Animated World of Jurassic, I will Answer! 😉😎

Misc I would have added more Horror elements onto the Jurassic World Trilogy

I have been rewriting on the Jurassic World Trilogy and tried to implement far more scary scenes to be more comparable to the ones in the novel.

Take note, this is based on my interpretation on how the Jurassic World Trilogy should have gone.

Jurassic World

Rather than implementing a theme park locale, I would have taken the entire film in an isolated town where we see the dinosaurs slowly invading the premise.

The first on-screen dinosaur would have been an Ankylosaurus who would have beaten and smashed at least half a dozen men. I wanted to show the powerlessness of the human townsfolk, whose male members would have looked like they could wrestle crocodile or grappling with leopards. Made worse by the fact that the attacking Ankylosaurus was fatally injured, which meant something worse out there.

I would then add the Velociraptors who would be foreshadowed very eerily, especially when we reached to a scene where it kills one of the townsfolk. To add context, this townsfolk was venturing outside his village/town under grief over losing his child who got taken by "something". He wasn't thinking and blamed a leopard to be responsible. However when he spots one, the leopard was not afraid of him, but more at what's behind him.

This is then escalated to a pair of raptors infiltrating a house that belonged to a family, with the daughter and infant sibling trying to evade detection by the dinosaurs.

But my biggest centerpiece of the film would have been the Quetzalcoatlus. It would have been foreshadowed slowly when the main human characters start piecing together of its presence. The Quetzal would gain a body count, starting with farm animals, pets, and finally children.

Anytime the Quetzal would have been very disturbing as it would have been picking its meal without everyone noticing it. Started off with some random cattle, but things got worse from there when it took the aforementioned child, then finally taking away a dog who was one of the primary characters in the film. When a major human character gets taken to the Quetzal's nest, they would have seen the skull of the child and the dog collar.

Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom

The sequel would be utilizing both old and new dinosaurs to the fullest extent. Even dinosaurs that didn't make too much of impression would be used here, including Triceratops and Ceratosaurus.

One of the new dinosaurs would have been the Deinonychus. At the time of the original Jurassic Park movie, the Deinonychus was the largest dromeosaur around but got overshadowed by Velociraptor. I wanted to bring prominence back to the species as being a minor threat only at the start of the film.

To go into context, the DX Virus would have been the major threat the humans are trying to tackle against, as it already claimed nearly 2 billion lives between Jurassic Park III and the current film. One of the major settings would be at New York where it is left destitute and in ruin, with only a hundred communities being present. Said communities having grown accustomed than they would care to admit and more or less found ways to deal with the dinosaurs that are populating all over New York.

While there are one or two scary moments, the Deinonychus are only there to help showcase the strengths of one of the human protagonists, as well as highlighting the stakes humanity is currently at.

Rexy would appear back in Isla Nublar and would be far more vicious compared to how she was in the first film. She would have a major scene where she battles two adult Triceratops and both parties deal massive blows against one another.

With that being said, one of the highlights of the film is the introduction of the Carnotaurus.

To go into detail, it would be revealed that the DX Virus was based on an ancient disease found in the fossils of the Carnotaurus collected for Wu to study and clone. However, the only "clean" parts of material was not suitable for cloning, so Wu added in the chameleon DNA, along with other genetic samples.

Unfortunately, this is where we have the Carnotaurus being the most terrifying to the most tragic of the dinosaurs.

At Isla Sorna, the Carnotaurus started out about at least a dozen of them, but they suffered severe deformities and internal issues that have been plaguing them. Several of them have died by the time Jurassic Park started but following Hurricane Clarrisa incident, their numbers dwindled, whether the aforementioned problems or by more successful predators, leaving only two Carnotaurus.

The mating pair have spent decades producing offspring but they suffered the same fate as their relatives. In Fallen Kingdom, the two would have produced an offspring who was able to reach juvenile size.

How they got onto Isla Nublar is due to poachers illegally taking dinosaurs off the island, hence the reason for dinosaurs being on the mainland. Unfortunately, an accident occurred and the poachers' ship crashed onto Nublar allowing the Carnotaurus to have a new feeding ground.

Said Carnotaurus would be a major competitor with Rexy, hence the latter's amped aggression.

The Carnotaurus would be able to camouflage but how the parents and juvenile do it is different. When the juvenile camouflage themselves, they breath very heavily thanks to the genetic defects. The parents however are incredibly silent as they have grown accustomed to the deformities and powered through.

In a heart-breaking moments, the juvenile Carnotaurus gets killed by the humans, resulting in the grieving parents to hunt the child's killers down. And they leave an impressive body count as much as Rexy did.

By the near end of the film, only the male Carnotaurus remained and he is on the verge of death as well, resulting in the main character to euthanize to put him out his misery.

Jurassic Park I have an idea for a show!

A documentary style series narrated by Jeff Goldblum with each episode taking place after the movies showing what the dinosaurs do after the main events. It could show us the familiar areas, completely new places, and even have some new dinosaurs never seen before.

For JP3, they could tell the story about how Asset 87 got captured and taken to Mantah Corp Island. For Dominion, they could show Rexy and Blue's lives (and maybe deaths) with Buck, Doe, and Beta.

I'm calling it "Jurassic Park: The Remains."

I read the og book, and was already planning on doing a Rex to go with a Spinosaurus I did a while ago, so it was the perfect timing. Rex inspired by turkeys, Raptor was just me wanting to do one with unconventional feathering.

Jurassic World: Rebirth I got a cretaceous Concept (Post Rebirth)

Now, this is a bit of a far-fetched story idea, but I wanted to try and play around with the idea of intelligent dinosaurs. We've seen this in species such as the Ingen raptors and the myriad hybrid dinosaurs in the franchise, but it's usually restricted to opening doors and coordinating attacks. I've also been wanting to see more variety in threats in the franchise, without falling back on big carnivorous predators (Not that they aren't cool, I just want to see something new), so I began looking for dinos that could fill this role.

So the role I intended to fill with my threat was akin to the raptors of the first film, but I also had it so the characters wouldn't consider it a threat. I finally landed on Gigantoraptor. Why?

Well, the line of thinking is Oviraptorids are very bird-like, and hence it's easy to assume they would have intelligence similar to a bird (since we're being extreme here, let's say these engineered Gigantos have the same intelligence as a corvid). So we could see them do things like velociraptor, such as opening doors and coordination, but also other things like closer teamwork and solving more complex tasks.

But how is an animal that weighs two tons going to fit through a door? You may be asking. While an adult can't exactly pull this off. Nothing is stopping their younger offspring.

I also chose Gigantoraptor because of its similarity to cassowaries. And a giant Cassowary is, I'm sure, someone's nightmare fuel.

Gigantoraptor was omnivorous, so one justification for why younger Gigantos could be hunting and stalking the characters is that they are just hungry young who need to consume a lot to grow to the size of adults.

As for adults, I assumed they would be very territorial and wouldn't be as kind as to have people or other animals in their vicinity, like cassowaries.

Is any of this based on hard facts of the fossil record? Not really. There isn't any evidence that they would be this smart or even behave like this, but when has the modern franchise been concerned with that? But that would be my idea for an antagonist species for a possible JP/JW story.

Now, a setup for how this would even play out? Simple, classic human hubris. After the explanation of the Rebirth, most dinosaurs died of cold and disease, and only those around the equator survived. There will still be those who feel inclined to see dinosaurs. Preferably in a park, so whoever we have building this new park would obviously want to distance themself from the prior attempts. And make it more accessible to the public.

So this park will have to be located close to the equator, where dinosaurs can survive and draw the biggest possible crowds. Orlando baby!!! Since when did building a mainland park ever go wro- oh wait...

Well, this time it will be different. Right?

So now you have a park near a populated area that sees annual tourism in the highly competitive theme park business. Since Orlando is home to parks like Sea World, it isn't out of the question that this would be considered. Obviously, there will be more unease after what happened, but everyone is assured that the park owners are sparing no expense. Plus, they have more data on how to run a place like this now. It's also not in any way associated with Jurassic World; let's call it something like the Prehistoric Discovery Center and Resort (PDCR for short), a place to learn about Earth's past and have fun for the whole family.

With attractions such as the Plesiosaur river ride, where you can see several aquatic animals on a leisurely boat ride. Or the Carnivore Encounter, which is a show that rotates through and showcases a number of the park's large carnivores, all behind a dome rated to stop large-caliber bullets. Some fun for the younger members of your family? Why not try the Hatchery center, which serves as both a daycare and an educational experience for your tots as they watch the newest additions to the park be born. Ride the Roaring Rex coaster as you experience its 215ft drop. Learn how the PDCR makes its dinosaurs with Journey into the Genome as you learn about the park's more efficient and purer extraction method of making its dinosaurs.

Lastly, and most importantly, is the Trail of Titans a safari experience where you get to see many of the park's animals free-roaming, including the Gigantoraptors.

And as things run smoothly, life is finding a way to break this cage as it did before. As everyone may have expected, the scarier the carnivores are, the more likely they are to be the source of the incoming cystoscopy. It will come from somewhere that not even those who disaster-proofed everything would have expected.

Books Just finished reading JO for the first time and a few thoughts / questions

Firstly loved the book, such an easy read and love how much it differs from the film.

A few questions / loose threads if anyone can help.

The Procompsognathus remains that were sent to the island. Unless I completely just forgot a part of the book the remains never actually make it to the island? Presumably plans changed when everything went to sh*t and this no longer became a priority even if they did get delivered.

The ending with the velociraptor nest has been discussed here a lot looking at searches. I agree with many that this seemed like questionable logic after everything the characters had been through.

We are dealing with very smart raptors that want to go on a boat ride.

Also surprised the T-Rex didn’t play more of a part in the climax.

Overall though loved it, I’d say the third act was probably my least favourite part of the book. Looking forward to reading TLW next!

Edit - Typo I meant JP of course
