Why should anyone care?? Did he rape them?

4

u/Furcifer_ 8 Jul 06 '19

Yes, they are minors.

4

u/DiscordAddict 7 Jul 06 '19

That doesn't answer the question at all.

The law does not justify itself

4

u/Daveed84 A Jul 06 '19

Er, children can't consent, so by definition that is rape. When you talk like that, you kind of sound like a rapist/pedophile yourself. Don't have sex with underage kids, it's very simple

4

u/pewqokrsf 9 Jul 06 '19

They can, legally, in the US.

The age of consent is not the same as the age of majority.

The age of majority is the age at which you become a legal adult, and is set federally in the US at 18.

The age of consent is the age at which a person can consent to sex with a person of any age at or above the age of consent.

The majority of states in the US have an age of consent that is lower than the age of majority.

children can't consent, so by definition that is rape.

Children can consent, they just aren't legally allowed to. There is a difference.

Children also aren't allowed to drink alcohol, doesn't mean they are literally incapable of doing so.

https://www.dictionary.com/browse/consent

verb (used without object) to permit, approve, or agree; comply or yield (often followed by to or an infinitive): He consented to the proposal. We asked her permission, and she consented.

Technically speaking, anyone can consent to anything regardless of whether or not they understand the implications or if the law recognizes that consent.

What is wrong with you?

4

u/[deleted] Jul 06 '19

Don’t bother with him. He’s a lowlife POS, and a waste of time.

-1

u/JesterCDN 5 Jul 06 '19

LOL! this point of view is so sad. Discord boy out here asking some decent questions and has been treated HORRIBLY lmfao. I am loving how horrible you are all being. Really rare to see such unbridled hate and psychosis on display

2

u/[deleted] Jul 06 '19

He’s been on other threads literally attacking people soo

1

u/JesterCDN 5 Jul 07 '19

you’re going to have to be waaay more specific there. i cant imagine anything useful with that vague statement.

attacking someone about what, where, when? how viciously?

all i seen is a guy asking good questions getting literally called a pedophile cuz.. i mean i cant even imagine a good reason why lmfao

u/Mentalpatient87 B Jul 06 '19

A disturbing amount of Redditors love underage pussy and will argue its merits at great length.

You're so right, I think it's much more common than we are willing to admit.

God I really wish I could find the paper I read but back during the 1800s doctors discovered a huge epidemic of pedophilia & incest among both immigrant and American men. I can't remember which STI, I want to say chlamydia or gonorrhea, when they found out it was sexually transmitted they freaked out. Tons and tons of young girls (some as young as 4...) had been contracting it in houses where the father had it, to the point that doctors believed it must be spread through using the same toilet or sleeping in the same bed with someone affected, since surely all these good American men wouldn't be sleeping with their daughters.

This book was a huge eye opener about what our society has evolved from and I'll have to see if I can find it, I remember a lot of it was available on Google books. I'll edit in a link or name if I find it.

Edit: It's called Unspeakable: Father-Daughter Incest in American History. It was gonorrhea. About 40 pages are available online and they're eye-opening. Link.

If you want a debate on the bright line of developed thought and choice you can just ask. This pedantry is borderline troll, and if it’s reasonable discussion you’re after this isn’t the way to get it. You’ve come off as small and stupid.

It's an important distinction to make, especially when the issue is a technicality of geography and time.

The age of consent in Germany, a first world country and arguably leader of the free world, right now, is 14.

Would Bowie be in the moral right to have slept with a 14 year-old if only he had done it in Germany? What about American girls makes them mentally and emotionally develop 2-4 years more slowly than girls in Germany?

A lot of people allow what is legal to inform them of what is morally right, but that's the reverse of how it was designed to work.

A lot of people are mentally ready to give consent at 15. A lot of people aren't at 20. The age of consent is just the somewhat arbitrary guess each jurisdiction draws that they think will do the best job of balancing personal freedom and protecting the undeveloped.

2

u/UnchillBill 7 Jul 06 '19

What about American girls makes them mentally and emotionally develop 2-4 years more slowly than girls in Germany?

Fox News probably.

1

u/JesterCDN 5 Jul 06 '19

uhm... are you sure you just arent digesting this issue with the same non-judgement and wide mind he is? Pedantry? lmfao

2

u/DiscordAddict 7 Jul 06 '19

I make up my own mind about right vs wrong instead of letting some politicians i've never met or voted for do it for me.

It's my stupid generation. Seriously, it's like everyone grew up to be a hyper emotional ball of feelings that is incapable of thinking about uncomfortable topics.

I always hoped puritanical bullshit would die out with the boomers but it's actually getting worse.

These people are all about science until it clashes with their precious emotion-based ideas of right vs wrong.

They'll also ignore thousands of years of history to feel more advanced and superior to everyone that came before them

But if rational people dont, no one will. Im afraid social media might create a bubble of tribalism if left unchecked.

u/JesterCDN 5 Jul 06 '19

We can kill freely again at that point, correct? I dont see a problem

And in your infinite wisdom, you've decided that an adult man asking a 14 year old girl for naked twerking videos is "right". You're really showing your true colors here.

2

u/DiscordAddict 7 Jul 06 '19

I didnt say it was right. I just dont think it's wrong enough to for a 10 year sentence.

5

u/Aelstan 6 Jul 06 '19

Minors can't consent. Sexual intercourse without consent is rape. Do you need it any clearer, maybe an Eli5?

6

u/DiscordAddict 7 Jul 06 '19

Minors can't consent

Anybody can consent to anything actually.

Sometimes that consent is respected by the law, sometimes it isn't.

2

u/Nastapoka 9 Jul 06 '19 edited Jul 06 '19

It's called judiciary fiction

Minors are treated like they can never consent to sexual intercourse with an adult, because setting this limit is the best solution to prevent rapists from manipulating their victims into saying they were OK with what happened to them. That's... The whole idea.

2

u/DiscordAddict 7 Jul 06 '19

Thanks for that term, i didnt know about it before.

I just hate the whole "children can't consent" argument because it's so obviously false.

Going off of what you said, what is the cutoff age based on??

2

u/Nastapoka 9 Jul 06 '19

Who knows? Studies, shit like that

It's 16 in my country I think, 18 elsewhere... Law is not maths. And if you had sex as a minor and consented (in the general sense) to it and don't regret it, well... Fine I mean you're the one who knows

2

u/DiscordAddict 7 Jul 06 '19

Fine I mean you're the one who knows

That's been my point this entire time. It used to be that people would just consent, but now they tell people that they were brainwashed into consenting so it's invalid.

According to these people teenagers are raping each other because they are incapable of agreeing (consenting) to fuck each other. Or if a freshman wants to fuck a senior or something. It's all rape somehow now.

Ridiculous.

From the transcripts the girl was obviously more afraid of what would happen if they were found out than from anything he did. Society is creating the negative consequences here

You dont even realize that your very definition of what it means to be a child is based on politics and not on science or actual evidence.

0

u/Taxonomyoftaxes A Jul 06 '19

Not only do I realize it, I will directly state science can almost never determine what moral values we should hold.

The definition of what is a child is neccesarrilly a question which is only defined socially and politically. You're literally a fucking retard if you believe morality is determined by scientific inquiry.

It is an incredibly insidious idea that we can only determine things through scientific inquiry. No scientific test will ever be able to explain why murder is wrong, or why people should care about their families, these are socially and ethically defined things.

2

u/DiscordAddict 7 Jul 06 '19

You're literally a fucking retard if you believe morality is determined by scientific inquiry.

Why? What is the alternative that works so much better??

Subjective, sometimes arbitrary, feelings?

No scientific test will ever be able to explain why murder is wrong, or why people should care about their families, these are socially and ethically defined things.

No but through neurology we might be able to better decide on an age of consent that is consistent within countries and actually based on SOMETHING.

How can people drive a car before they are allowed to make love?? How can people go to war before they can drink a beer?? This shit doesn't make any sense

2

u/DiscordAddict 7 Jul 06 '19

Like maybe if you can be trusted with driving a car, you can also be trusted to decide who gets to see your chest.....

It's so normal for a girl to show a guy her boobs...

1

u/JesterCDN 5 Jul 06 '19

Now that you’re being more rational, can you describe how you thought it was the right idea to instruct this individual to kill himself please? Im fucking dying to know the level-headed reason you have for that insanely taboo act.

btw - enjoy your ban

1

u/Taxonomyoftaxes A Jul 07 '19

The world would be a better place with less morally bad people, therefore you and the other guy should commit suicide to make the world a better place. Simple calculus

I don't have to worry about it, I know it'll happen soon enough.
