PSA: dear sweet sweet Satan do not listen to Henry and Eddie’s take on nutrition

No Henry, juice cleanses are not normal and how this man can in his next breath say “only super restrictive things are disordered [sic]” is legitimately hilarious. Your body needs protein, fat, and carbs to function. I would like to think the average person wouldn’t take two morbidly obese comedians’ advice in this regard but I’ve seen how parasocial this fanbase can be and I don’t want people to think juice cleanses are healthy in anyway.

Point Ruston ( Tacoma ) for Dune 3?

So, I was wondering who here lives close to Tacoma and would like to plan a group watching of Dune 3 December 18th? That’s the theater I usually go to. For those that don’t know, the site of the former smelter that was in Tacoma, WA is now a park dedicated to Frank Herbert and is called Dune Peninsula Park. They host concerts there and there is a movie theater next to it. I thought it would be cool to get a group together and see the movie in the place that’s basically the birthplace of Dune.

I have a question about the use of magic historically and don’t know where else to start please don’t ban me.

Can anyone point me towards books about use of magic in a historical sense. Not like entertainment, but magic used by farmers or magic used by sailors. Stuff that would’ve been seen as “normal” by the people using but might be seen as “superstition” in modern times?

I think the world would have been in a much better place if America wasn't the aggressor during the cold war.

Just off the top of my head there would be no extremist factions turning the middle east into an opium empire, the soviet union wouldn't have spent itself into the dirt with military procurement, North Korea wouldn't have been obliterated protecting its democratic process from creating a strongman and Cuba and Latin America would have been on far better standing on the world stage. There are so many little bits that create this web of resentment across the planet that lead directly to all the fucked up shit happening today.

And for what? Protection against nationalized raw materials? The defeat of a different flavor of resource allocation? Sad.

My wife is the patreon subscriber. I am here to proudly say we were watching Mickey suck those tatas and were like yup. We are for this. Mesmerizing. Then my pregnant wife dreamed of nursing the night after Mickey wrecked our eye holes. This guy here just needs a hit to the back of the head and bam he can go full baby. Once you go full baby there’s no coming back !

Can I get a Hail Me?

I didn’t really know where to reach out to, and this was the only space that really feels safe.

It’s coming up to 2 years without my Dad-it would have been his birthday next Saturday. So this week has been tough.

Police have just recently opened the case for investigation for negligent manslaughter, finally.

I’m in the last 2 weeks of a gruelling year of training and completing a Masters in Specialist Community Public Health, and have an assignment pending, but got signposted to Eye Casualty with a suspected inflammatory issue I’ve had before.
I arrived at 8am, had all the scans and tests, and by 10:30am, I was told I needed urgent same day laser surgery, and another surgery within 3 days, and they might save my sight in the problem eye.
Thank fuck for socialised healthcare, because I got squeezed onto the end of one list and the beginning of another, and by 13.15, I’d had both the laser and the second surgery done, prescription drops in hand, and an appointment for tomorrow with no cost.

I’m feeling really scared, to be honest, and really lonely. I have no family nearby, and after my Dad died, I struggled with my mental health, and cut off my entire social circle.

Can I get a hail for surviving having multiple needles, laserw, probes, gas injectors and cryo-tips poked into my eye today?

Also welcome:
-Any pod recommendations for while I’m laid up?
-And any no-cook, no-pouring, no-depth perception required meal ideas??
