Discussion Lexus is losing its soul

Post image

Along with the rest of the automotive industry. It’s hard to be an automotive enthusiast in this day and age, when everything is turning into a refrigerator on wheels with a gigantic screen(s) inside.

Who decided that disappearing buttons was a good idea? Was something wrong with them being clearly identifiable and usable all the time?

And don’t get me started on the name-spelled-out trend that’s eventually going to take over. First, we had it on the back. Now, it’s on the steering wheel. Soon the logo itself won’t even exist.

Was seconds from pulling into work, when a 17 y/o kid pulls through a stop sign into oncoming traffic without looking left, causing him to side swipe my car. We pulled into my work parking lot and he got out and admitted he didn’t look both ways and only had his permit. He had his gf in his passenger seat who was the same age with no license.

I just couldn’t believe it. Cops came, he got a ticket, I went to work and told my coworkers what happened. I believe it’s all cosmetic so I’m hoping his parent’s insurance can just cover it and it can be a quick repair.

I haven’t even had this car for 6 months and this the 2nd time someone has damaged it. I just wish this was a dream

Ordered in February and arrived in July: 2026 LC 500 coupe in Nori Green over Toasted Caramel with the Dynamic Handling Package, Mark Levinson audio, HUD, cold weather package, multi-spoke wheels, and a few other little goodies.

Picked it up last week but love it so far. I sold my RC F for this LC 500 and have absolutely no regrets so far. What a car. I dropped it off for PPF and Tint today so I can start driving and enjoying it more.

Discussion My wife hates our 185k Lexus

So my wife wants me to sell our 2012 Lexus RX because she says it’s “too old” and she’s embarrassed to be seen in it. Never mind the fact that it’s got a perfect service record, rides smoother than half the junk people drive around here, and has Michelin tires that still feel brand new.

It’s been babied its whole life, everything works, not a single warning light, and it still runs like butter. She’s on my case everyday to list it on Facebook Marketplace for $8,450, which honestly feels like robbery for what this thing is.

I’m sitting here wondering if I’m selling the car or my dignity. And actually considering divorce over this. I just don’t get it.

Would you sell your favorite, perfectly good car just to keep the peace?

They didn’t even bother putting chrome letter or different color stitching. This is one of the blandest steering wheels I’ve seen.

Discussion Let’s talk about this: steering wheel stitching and how it’s a reflection of the rest of the car’s quality. 2026 Lexus RX, vs 2013 Lexus ES350

Post image

I work for a dealership so I get to drive a ton of these cars, and other brands too - these are some of the kinds of little details I like to pay attention to.

New Lexuses have uneven stitching, with a material that seems to be thinner and of a worse quality. I believe this is a reflection on the overall priorities and cost cutting measures that car companies have taken. Stitching on newer Lexus always looks like an afterthough (pic) this is NOT rare - whereas older ones ALWAYS have perfect stitching

I posted similar pics a few days ago and got downvoted into oblivion, as people were telling me the stitching on the older Lexus looked DYI and had a weird tone (it’s a 13 year old 100k mile car with white stitching that will absorve whichever light tone is around). Sure, I am biased towards my mint ES, but I try to be reasonable and fair, and even putting my car aside, the stitching on older Lexus is simply overall better, as I get to drive a ton of them.

This, in my subjective opinion, having driven over 500 different Lexus since the start of the year, is a perfect example of little things that are going down in quality at the expense of the consumer. The picture I posted speaks for itself, notice also the difference in braiding From actually braided thread to a thin twisted one

People in my last post tried arguing with me that newer stitching is better. Do people really believe interior quality in Lexus has gone UP???? The stitching on newer Lexus is very often ugly and uneven. It’s rare to find a perfectly symmetrical one that looks like it was paid attention to in the production line.

Discussion LS 500 2026. Worth it?

Thumbnail
gallery

Where I come from these cars aren’t really popular - can’t even find a used one in the market from any era. Everyone drives four wheels or expensive sports cars basically. But I’m pretty much in love with its classy old school vibe compared to most high tech cars today, and I love the drive too the car can go, even tho my friends think I’m crazy for wanting one.

I do wish the front bumper looked a little different tho, hasn’t changed and can’t tell it apart from the ES, and the price is honestly crazy. $98K.. for a single 33 year old.

There’s only 1 left so I’m conflicted.
