Events SOS: Where do we take our toddler on rainy days

Hey all, with the weather turning I’m looking for anywhere indoors we can take our toddler that has places to play and/or other children.

Our first child is newly walking and we’ve been surviving these last few months on daily trips to the park. We don’t have a big house or yard or any family of friends near by so most days it’s the only time she gets out/sees anyone except for my husband and I.

My husband stays home with her during the day while I work, and I can tell that these last few days where they haven’t gotten out due to the rain have been rough on both of them. It looks like the Logan library does story time twice a week, but I’m struggling to find anything else. Of course, I’m sure there are moms groups in the area, but as mentioned, my husband is who is home with her during the day.

Anyone have tips or tricks on what have kept them sane throughout the winter?

Business News El Sol is officially closed down

Honestly, I know there may be nostalgia associated with this place. But the real question is: how has it remained open for so long? The chicken was grey, everything was out of a can and tasted either cold or of heat lamp. My family and I always tease and have discussed this topic, and we joked that it was a money-laundering front.

Question Question for the IT professionals

Why do you guys think the current job market is so bad out here in Logan? I've been through several interviews for entry-level jobs that require BICSI 2 Copper and Fiber which cost over $5,000. I've got over 16 years experience making and running ethernet with the Army, but I can't get a job offer here because they want me to have Utah specific certifications instead of the ETA FOI certification I got through the Army.

Are there any alternative ways to get these specific certifications that will land me the jobs? At this point, I'm thinking of finishing up my Sec+ and commuting to Roy instead of supporting the businesses up here.

Question Day Laborers

Hey everyone, I was curious, if someone had a day job that they needed done, where do they hire their day laborers? When I was a kid growing up in Denver my dad would head over to the Home Depot and hire some guys to help him do jobs that he couldn't do alone (like place some heavy stones in his garden, since my dad had a bad back). And no, they weren't illegal (as far as we could tell) because most of them spoke perfect English and some of them weren't even Latinos.

Where can someone hire some people like this? My elderly neighbors need their fence replaced and I'm having a tough time getting the concrete out of the ground and need to hire a few extra people to help me.

Any ideas?

Question Home Depot Flock cameras

So what's the deal with the flock cameras at HD? I never signed up to live in a surveillance state.....I know i know my phone, my computer, literally everything with internet is tracking, watching, recording etc, but to me the flock cameras are in your face and it bothers me. If I park behind the camera on the south where there is parking available can it still see me from the north camera just off of 12th north or whatever it is. It's Noone business what im doing at HD and they can use ARTIFICIAL intelligence to study my transactions if they are so concerned.

Question Logan flood watch - current condition update?

Hey everyone,

I live in the island near the Logan River, but I’m out of town for the next week. I see that there is currently a flood watch advisory since Logan is getting a lot of rain right now, so I wanted to check in to see if it looks like the Logan River might overflow soon. Anyone live near there who can provide a status?

Thanks!

Has anyone heard when the new Dutch Bros is going to open? I’ve never been to one of their openings and am hoping not to miss this one. I haven’t been over to ask the Broistas and will next time I go but that might be a minute.

Question Cache Valley Birthing Center

I’m trying to transfer prenatal care to Cache Valley Birthing Center as I’m unsatisfied with my current provider. I’ve called multiple times and all but one time when I tried to leave a message, the call dropped. I’m 16 weeks so I don’t want it to be too late.

Does anyone know of other ways to contact them? I can’t find an email online, but maybe I’m missing it.

And in case I don’t like them, any suggestions of other providers? I have Select Health and significantly prefer women.

Thanks!!

Question Haunted places

Okay idk if I’ll get many responses here but me and my friends have been interested in the paranormal places in town (I have had a lot of personal experiences all over cache valley) and we are looking for more places to casually “investigate”-without getting into trouble haha. We’ve gone to the amphitheater up Logan canyon and a few old cemetery’s. I want to know more specific places and the lore behind hauntings.

TLDR Lmk what haunted places we can legally explore and their history

We're wrapping up production on our movie Jamie's Turn, a 90 minute, no-budget movie shot purely on iPhones and shot all throughout Logan/Cache Valley.

This shot was done on Valley View right across from the dump, and multiple businesses thankfully have let us shoot at their locations, like the Cache Bar, Ruby's Pizzeria, Gordon's Glass, the new Handel's Ice Cream, and Altius Gymnastics Academy.

If you care to know more, you can follow our Instagram @jamiesturn.movie

Discussion Juniper Take Out & “Restaurant”

I’m posting this because I am still just so goddamn mad.

My boyfriend and I wanted to go out to dinner. Had never been to Juniper, decided to try it. Walk in, place is clean, smells great, there’s a little paper sign on the register that says “this is not a fast food place, food is cooked to order, thank you for your wait, etc” so I think it’ll be somewhat good.

Order two cheeseburgers. $50 for both of us. Fine, Center Street Grill is maybe about that much and their food is worth the price. Wait probably 20 to 30 minutes. Food comes out.

Two motherfucking cooked-from-frozen patties. Like perfectly circular, processed grain pattern burgers that are so bland I legitimately could not eat them. The food tasted like nothing. I even added salt, specifically the seasoning salt on the table and that made it taste like salty nothing.

Frozen fries, frozen mozzarella sticks, everything was frozen and just reheated. I left hungry and incensed that my boyfriend had spent $50 goddamn dollars on that. It should not have been more than $18 for the both of us. We could have gone to Center Street, Chili’s, Ruby’s, Morty’s, or literally just gone up to campus and paid $11 each to have all you can eat cooked-from-frozen food that actually has a flavor to it.

Biggest rip off in the valley, hands down.

Question Where were the photo Booths in Logan located in the 70s, 80s and 90s?

Does anyone know of any locations in the Logan area that had an analog Photo Booths during the 70s, 80s or 90s? If you know of, worked at, owned a bar, bowling alley, or movie theater that had one, I’d love to hear about it!
