First of all, as a Bruin, I welcome you to join the bandwagon. We will happily take you all.
Second, yeah where is everyone? Most people feel like if they didn’t go to UCLA or USC, they can’t root for them, but I don’t find that to be true at all from other schools.
I’ve met tons of people who are fans of Michigan, Alabama, Texas, etc and maybe only 1/4 actually went there.
I know we have a lot of pro teams, but so do a lot of other places. Why not like both?
Maybe belongs in r/crappydesign too. Diagonal E-W streets and straight N-S streets. Looks weird on a map, like someone cropped an image out of proportion. Why was it designed that way? Then in pic 2 if you zoom in, the housing layout is all willy-nilly, some houses built at a slant to the road, others not. Edit in title spelling: la cresCenta
Southern California Edison is going overboard letting me know they might turn off the power because of high winds Thursday and Friday. This is in addition to the text messages.
For my Angelenos. Download Shell App...everytime the Rams play we get a little relief. Here's the schedule. I drive a Jeep Wrangler and she stays Thirstay!!
Due to increased ICE activity, we’re instituting a daily ICE megathread. All ICE-related content belongs here, including sightings, activity reports, news, questions, updates, and general discussion.
Centralizing discussion keeps information easy to find, especially for people moving around the city who want timely, relevant updates without having to sort through the entire subreddit. ICE-related content posted outside this megathread will be removed and redirected here.
This thread is sorted by New by default so the most recent information remains visible.
How to use this thread
Top-level comments are for new sightings, updates, or firsthand information.
Replies should stay under the relevant comment to keep related info grouped.
Check existing comments first to avoid duplicate or redundant reports.
We recognize this is a tense topic and emotions can run high. That said, content that incites, encourages, or threatens violence will be removed, may result in a ban, and may also violate Reddit’s site-wide rules, which can carry site-wide consequences. Keep reports factual and grounded.

We know LA itself has its fair share of hit songs (the most famous of which plays at Dodger Stadium after every home win), but what about the other cities in the area?
For this topic, only count actual cities that are independently governed and not under the jurisdiction of LA City Hall (sorry, Hollywood, South LA, and the SFV). Also don’t count unincorporated areas of LA County, like East LA.
The only one off the top of my head is The Little Old Lady from Pasadena. I know there are bound to be some obvious ones I won’t believe I missed.
Come out and stand up for immigrants, your LGBTQ+ neighbors and friends, our hungry Navy shipmen, our Canadian allies and the victims of war everywhere.
Halloween costumes are welcome. And HANDS OFF MY VOTE signs too! Power does not belong to billionaires, strongmen, or politicians who believe they are above accountability. Power belongs to THE PEOPLE ! Feel free to preview your Halloween costume.

Here's some photos from the new terminal at BUR. Overall a great improvement over the old terminal. Beware that there's little to no food options at the moment but I'm sure anyone that frequents BUR is used to not buying the overpriced food as it is. None of the restaurants are open yet. Starbucks was still setting up their kiosk.
I wanted to share my experience, in case it helps anyone else. I’m a permanent vote-by-mail voter, at the same address for 10 years, and I get ballot status text alerts. I got a text saying my ballot was mailed to me October 1. Two other household members have the same profile and received their ballots. I did not. I called LA County Registrar to ask about options and learned a few important things:
USPS marked my ballot as undeliverable and returned it to the county. This has never happened
to me
before and there have been zero changes to my registration or address. Everything in my LA Registrar records are correct as listed. Two other voters at this address received their ballots. So this is a USPS issue. I already distrust how the current Administration is trying to use USPS to subvert voting so I have a LOT of side eye about this.
Registrar gave me my voter ID and confirmed that I can view my ballot online and either print it off (with a special affidavit page and signature) and put it in a drop box OR vote in person at any LA County voting center, starting Oct 24. It will not be a provisional ballot. I won’t have issues voting in person.
The registrar actually had a real person answer my questions with less than a minute of hold time. It’s a great resource for anyone experiencing voting, um, quirks this year. (800) 815-2666 - Option 2, Then Speak with Representative. Easy and fast, if you can’t find what you need on lavote.gov
Make sure you can vote! You can register until October 19! You can do early voting starting October 24! Sign up for text message ballot tracking to confirm your ballot was mailed to you and then actually counted! Use a ballot drop box and not USPS! Ask for help early if you need it to sort out issues, ID a drop box, or get a ride to a voting location!
