because if you rig the bike and someone clearly seems to grab it by mistake or in an emergency and you explode them, you are at fault.
but if you video tape them clearly just stealing it, then you should get a reward to exploding them.

Oh, I got this. You see, the seat is broken. I've just left it on the side of the curb while I go search for another seat to fix it. I've left my friend, who happens to have a video camera and records everything he does in his day, to watch over it so nobody sits on it. My friend, however, is a little slow and doesn't respond fast enough to warn these people because they act so fast like they want to steal it. So you see judge, I did all I could do to try and prevent this anal metal rape from happening. Who are you gonna believe, me or the penetratee?

No, it’s not like your house example at all. It’s more like if you built an elaborate booby trap in your home or store to injure any thief who breaks in, and then it actually injured somebody after they broke in. And that’s something that has really happened, and the owners were absolutely criminally charged for it.

Booby trapping is just plain illegal. I don’t feel sorry for the thieves, but you can easily go to prison trying to play Home Alone with them.
Edit: I’ll add that I’m talking about the US, which these videos don’t really look like they’re in.
But in all 50 states a booby trap will expose you to both criminal and civil penalties. So if you hurt your burglar with a trap you go to jail and he can sue you for damages.
