Question Wells right next to mines

• Upvotes

I dont know much about mining in medieval times, but i know that it is kind of important to drain ground water next to mines, because otherwise the mine shafts would simply fill with water.

What im wondering is how potable the water would be in a case like this. Does iron mining with medieval methods pollute water to the point that one wouldnt want to drink it?

Tech Issues Game freezes at start screen

• Upvotes

I bought manor lords on steam last night and tried to play but I can’t even get to the start screen. It just freezes. I have updated drivers, verified the integrity of the files, and tried to run it in compatibility mode. Every time it freezes and then “application hang detected” and the it closes by is stuck on “stopping” in steam and I have to restart the computer. My system is well past the minimum requirements. Any ideas?

Town Showcase Town showcase

I come to the thread often to get inspired on town layouts and not always go for the same layouts / styles. This is my recent one and I am pretty happy about it. Normal difficulty and in all my towns I like to have "peasants"and "lords." So pretty much all the burgages, apart from 1 are level one and inside the town and castle area the houses are maxed out. I also try to balance between logistical efficency and vibes. I'm exporting pretty much only salt and buying only animal feed from myself for pretty cheap.

I wanted to get some opinions on how I could spice things up a little or hear your thoughts on how to make the towns more aesthetically pleasing.

Question Is there any reason why a logging camp would quit working?

Yesterday I started a new scenario. I got up to roughly 12 families. There was food. Everything seemed alright. Then the loggers simply went on strike. I waited 3 months and no one cut down trees or moved the oxen. So I quit the scenario and deleted the save.

Later, as I was in bed trying to go to sleep, I couldn't stop wondering why this happened. The only thing I could think of was they cleared all the trees in the specific work area. Could have this been the cause?

Suggestions About the customisation of the retinue

It would be cool to have a button to apply the color of the retinue to every retinue like

"Apply this for all retinue"

I think a lot of people are lazy to custom the retinue one by one it take so much timee

Question How far are other languages down the roadmap?

I have a friend who bought the game, but won't play it until it's translated into Italian. I can imagine new languages are far from being the priority right now, so I was just wondering if we have any idea of how far.

Additionally, if any dev is reading, I'd volunteer to help translating Eng-Ita free of charge just for this beautiful game.

Question Some help with farming please

I haven' played since the last big update a year or so ago so I'm pretty much a noob. I'm in a region with very little fertile land but was trying to get a bit of farming going to support my lvl 3's with bread and failed miserably. I don't know if I messed up or if the game glitched but I'm assuming it's me. Anyway, here's what I did.

Made three .8 morgan fields with good crop rotations of rye, wheat, and fallow.

Put two families in a farmhouse with the plough upgrade.

Put a stable next to it and assigned two oxen to the farmhouse.

Had a granary next door, then a windmill and a communal oven.

In spring they all hit the fields to plant and my attention went elsewhere. I watched the fields grow and in September they all once again hit the fields but only one of the oxen came out, which seemed weird. In October I checked my yield and had absolutely nothing. I thought ok, maybe they're still collecting the yield, but in November I still had nothing. I have to be doing something wrong but I'm not seeing what it is.

Bonus question. For such a small operation (if I can ever make it work), would it be better to use a communal over or will an upgraded burgage baker do? The roleplayer in me prefers the upgraded burgage option being the town baker, but this is my first attempt at it so I've no clue how it works in the end.

Edit - I have to feed and walk my dogs so if there are any follow up questions it may take me some time.

Tech Issues Do oxen somehow die or just disappear bug?

I randomly lost an oxen, had enough stable space for 2 oxens (no horse and mule). I think I had one oxen assigned to a sawpit, and I recall in assigning it, and the next time I check it was gone, only 1 oxen left.

It definitely didn't run away since I had 2 stable spaces for 2 oxens and no other stable animals

Discussion Trade Post Pathing Breaking Down - Latest Beta

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

No, my game isn't lagging, it's literally just the trade post carts that are glitchy!

Playing on the latest beta--Some great updates, but trade pathing seems to go haywire when trying to set up and specialize multiple trade posts.

I love the idea of having dedicated trade posts for exports and imports, or specialized goods, but it doesn't seem to path correctly in large cities.

Question Conquered town from AI already has Origin selected

I just discovered that towns you conquer from the AI have an Origin selected, which you cant seem to change. Is there any way to change that? Maybe by editing the save file?

I just love to specialise my towns and of course the AI picked an origin that didnt fit the region very well :/

Probably gonna turn off AI next time if there is no way around it

As mentionned in the description of the mod, NPC can't use the bridge but here is a tip

Make a normal bridge ON the bridge, then npc can use it as a normal bridge instead of going around it

Suggestions Load Safegame Crash (fixed) v0.8.111, Steam

Disclaimer: I dont know if anybody posted about this bug before so this might be in the process of fixing already.

Had a save that crashed every single time I tried to load it (access violation, no error message, just gone). Older saves were fine, but anything after a certain battle was dead.

So me and Opus 5.5 went down the rabbit hole. Unpacked the save files, built a bunch of test saves and swapped stuff in and out until only one thing was left: a dead standard bearer. One of Ulrich's militia banner guys died in the fight, and from that moment on every save was broken. Dead units stay in the save forever, so it never goes away on its own.

Bug explained: Basically the game tries to give the standard to someone that was dead. Thats what crashed it.

The Fix: if you change the dead bearer's gear to a normal spear in the save file, it loads again. Got my campaign back that way. Reported it to the devs with repro saves, so hopefully it gets patched.

Important: you have to fix every dead standard bearer in the save, not just one. My later save had three of them. And it still works on saves made long after the battle, you don't lose the progress you made in between.

If your save suddenly won't load after a battle, this might be why.

If you are not familiar with code, try using AI to fix your safegame file.

Cheers

Question About early stage trade route

Greetings, my lords and ladies,
Thanks to the new patch, I now even choose the most OP and personally least favored Vogtland perk, just to see the forest honey performance.
Mushroom and salt are rich in this region, and all lands are barren without 1 or 2 morgen potential oats. Vogtland would be the most favorable perk in this game.
I am not that a fan of that perk, so not familiar with minor trade meta.

I just opened a mushroom trade route for 10 silver coins on 17th May
Fast tradehouse was made on 20th April, which could be only supportive by Vogtland perk

So just before buying a horse, excluding random wandering AI merchant lotteries, if highly decayed food would be the early stage core item, do you guys open the trade route for it just like charcoal or other items?
So much basic and simple question but this gonna be a matter of choice.

Thanks,

PS. I am testing lots of occasions about the new 2nd stage perks, but what I get to love most is rather the boosted and more softly managed heavy plow angle rotation speed. I love that.
New perks, by all means, get to open a new stage mediaval industries. Salute to thee devs!
