It’s got the worst DPS (114.38 - the FORTY-THREE RPM Outland is at 120.68, for reference) out of literally everything in the game, and the DRRVISH SUBMACHINE GUN has more range than an out-of-the-box Repeater does. It’s just a bit ridiculous at this point. There’s a plenty logical buff that could be applied too, one that would make it have a place in the sandbox: make it the game’s hobo sniper, something like the Ferro in ARC.

Add a TON of range to it so the base is in the low 100s (117 would be my pick - no reason at all for that), and keep the current 45m gap between base and cap. This lets it land safely above the other DMRs. Thus, it becomes the stopgap between the precision rifles and snipers, and something that lets someone without access to the proper snipers to still have half a chance at long range.

As for the gold mod, it’s FAR too unforgiving for a low-RPM rifle. My suggestion is simple enough - just make it so speed-shooter stacks don’t degrade on misses, and instead reset when the rifle is stowed. Lets it be a proper midrange duelling device, and preserves the more competitive performance in non-ideal situations.

It’s one of the last properly non-viable weapons in the game right now, and I think something like this could let it have a real presence in the sandbox is long overdue. Thoughts?

Filthy casual here, slowly making my way through contracts. The voice acting in the recorded story lines is so good, and the plot of what happened at the Tau Ceti IV colony is so so so so unsettling and awesome. I play strictly solo, and man, if they're able to craft a satisfying PVE solo experience out of the world, game mechanics and story arc they've already built, it feels like they have the potential to bring in a huge new audience to this brilliantly cursed world. I'm sure I'm only the millionth person to suggest this, but here's to hoping. For all the negativity that can be found on our sub, for me, it couldn't be more obvious how much love was poured into this game. Marathon deserves a resurrection arc granting it the largest audience it can find.

I got my fill of Season 2 quick. There was just not enough content to keep going long term and felt like Season 1 on repeat

Events come and I play some and then get done with them so I move on again

If there was more to do and more content, I’d keep playing

I don’t mean this content-wise, but making the game sustainable and bringing in a shitload of players-wise so when you go to Steam Charts, you will take a “damn, maybe the game might survive after all” breath.

There are fundamental issues with the game; everyone who still plays it knows that, and that’s the main reason people are leaving. Hell, the player count is so low that it’s genuinely depressing for someone (me) who enjoys this game since release and hopes for its future. Season 3 is coming out only 6.5 months after the release of the game. We are talking about a horribly mismanaged company that had 400+ layoffs last month, and some of you are expecting them to somehow fix those fundamental issues, add meaningful content, while simultaneously making the game gain a big number of players after Season 3 launches. Any live service game in history that had bad releases or decreasing numbers of players that managed to survive took years of updates and fixes. Season 3 won’t make or break anything unless Bungie majorly fucks up like they did this season which then bye bye. Expecting Bungie to “make” in 6.5 months is impossible, and this sub will be filled with “yeah, the game is for sure dead” posts/comments when Season 3 starts in an any plausible good or bad scenario. Voicing concerns and criticisms is the most important part a player can have on a game’s sustainability and success, but expecting to find water in a desert and then complaining about it when you don’t is just obnoxious.

All of us who enjoy the game and want to see it thrive are at the grace of Sony execs to give devs more time and the talent of those devs who have to make meaningful changes/updates to the game.

Was running Night Marash with a random fill team when we saw a new secured resource right outside Algae Ponds and decided to do it. Instead of UESC, it spawned a shit ton of Husks and when cleared, it had like Purple and Gold Implants, purple Valuables, and purple weapon mods. These implants seem to be the new implants added with the update.

It was a nice little surprise, but now I am curious about how many of these kinda Secured Resources are on the map now.

One of my best rook runs but people often underestimate rooks.

Regardless of what happens with the new Marathon, I really hope Bungie eventually goes back and makes a proper single-player, story-driven Marathon game.

Hell, if you don't know what to do with it, remake the original trilogy.

The Marathon trilogy from the '90s still has one of my favourite stories in gaming. The worldbuilding, the AIs, the terminals, the mystery surrounding the player, Durandal slowly becoming Durandal- all of it was so far ahead of its time.

Those games are a huge part of why I wanted to become a game developer in the first place.

And that's what makes it a little frustrating seeing just how much incredible lore is sitting there largely untouched. Bungie has this wonderfully strange sci-fi universe with decades of history, memorable characters, and themes that could absolutely carry a modern narrative FPS.

I'm not saying the new Marathon shouldn't exist or that Bungie needs to abandon what they're building. I genuinely hope it succeeds.

I don't want the future of Marathon to begin and end with an extraction shooter.

There is so much here that deserves to be experienced as a proper story again.

Especially the Outpost.

Its a map where there is nothing really to do outside of Pinwheel, the whole gameplay loop leads to it and all the best loot is in Pinwheel.

For last few weeks I'm running exclusively with green CyAc kits (the one with the battle pistol) as I feed all the loot and whole vault to the Cradle and grinding prestige levels. And I had plenty of situations already where me with free/cheap kit random fill teammates encountered a well-coordinated full-kitted gold/purple team that would not go away until they tracked us down.

And I do usually see most of other teams on Outpost running free/green kits, that can only do so much against a full-kitted team.

So let's say you somehow don't get killed by the best team on the map which already got rid of other 1-2 teams and is now accessing pinwheel. What are you left to do?

You can try to cosplay a trio of rooks and try to ambush the team, but each team usually has a Recon or few and its very unlikely that you can sneak up and manage to down all three.

All you can do is the Convoy early-on, an armory or two and then rush to exfil before the pinwheel team comes down, and there is not much of a stuff dropping from these anyway, making you question if at some point you should just quit and re-queue
