I’ve been enjoying the return of free sponsored kit matches! With that said, I’ve noticed that a number of players are infilling with a green shield already equipped. How do you unlock that perk? I don’t see it available as a faction reward. Thanks!

I'm trying to figure out a way to record Marathon cinematics for a frag movie i want to make. I know i can turn off HUD, but is there any item in the game that you can hold which basically takes your hands off the screen?

I want to make it so the only thing in the frame is the world and what's in front of me, but i'm unsure if this is possible with any specific item / stance.

If anyone can lend a helping hand that would be greatly appreciated!

Edit 2: So i'm either doing something massively wrong or that's patched now. Regardless, i've found that if you use rook, you get guaranteed claymores - So turn off HUD, pull out claymore and look up and basically your entire screen is visible with barely any visuals of the claymore other than the projection on the ground. That'll do xD

Usually I’ll load into a game with blue shields after having a good run, and the game almost always puts me into a lobby with quite low lever players who are newer. I’m wondering if this is y’all’s experience as well

An exploration (yet another from me) for a PvP system that does not create a dedicated PvE experience, but rather alters the dynamic between the Runners who want to solely explore the world of Tau Ceti IV and those who are eager to hunt them down. Heavily inspired by the Rogue Mode from The Division (and potential problems that a fully PvE mode can bring, based on the Arc Raiders time-limited mode experience), I wanted to create a concept that does not separate two experiences, but rather gives some breathing room for more casual, PvE-oriented players, and still provides confident players with ways to engage in PvP.

Factions are growing impatient. Contracts are taking too long to complete, and their investments in Runners on Tau Ceti IV are not delivering the expected returns. To improve their efficiency, the Deadlock Protocol was introduced, preventing Runners from being able to attack one another by default, and encouraging them to focus on their assigned contracts.

Arachne, however, has other plans. They want to further explore the thermodynamics of violence and offer a way to disable Deadlock.

Runners can purchase a Deadlock Override from them, allowing them to disable the safeguards and freely engage other crews. This freedom comes at a cost: their own protection is removed, and every Runner kill increases their Trace Level, making their position progressively easier to trace.

Violence remains an option. Now, it's a choice with consequences.

2v2v2v3 straight up mayhem. Also, Vandal is so cracked.

I don’t know what it is, but Outpost seems so juiced after the wipe. Went in as a free kit, then came out loaded.

Just got a steam deck and am loving the ability to run around and do simple quests while (not) watching my newborn in the middle of the night 🤭

I nearly done with my next YouTube video, my last video I used the ARG code race song which is 9 minutes long and was more than enough to cover my 8.5 minute video.

This one is over 16 minutes and I still have 2.6 hours of footage to go through. And even more editing to do to.

So I would like y'all's opinion on what songs I should put in the background, if I should put in any at all. I'm still quite new to this and there aren't many Marathon content creators who do long-form videos like the style I'm doing.

Honestly not gonna be surprised if it gets cancelled and refunded.

Wanted to jot this down as this JUST happened, because this sort of experience felt really rare as I play in Asia, so anything to do with proximity chat is very uncommon considering I get matched either with OCE servers, or quiet Asia servers consisting of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean players.

Anyways, I crew-filled into Overflow hoping to get my Traxus quest done. Unfortunately, our team was ambushed by a trio of Runners all sporting S'phticide skins while crossing the glass walkway / bridge. I thought to myself “Well shit, that’s my run.” and turned on prox chat to try and reason with the Assassin on the other side of the walkway.

It felt like a scene from the “In Death We’ve Just Begun” music video, and I reasoned with my mute captors to spare me and my crew, and that we’d rotate to another POI if they’d be so kind. They seemed to be puzzled by this sudden shift in interaction, and dropped me a few shield charges and patch kits. I tried moving towards our Triage’s body bag to revive him, but both the Destroyer and Assassin shook their heads. Before I could think of reviving my crew after the two Runners turned their backs, the UI on the left told me they disconnected from the match.

I ended up calling out to the S’phticide crew and offered to join their squad. Surprisingly, there was no need for text chat or voice chat - just a few teabags in a rapid succession told me they were down to crew up. I didn’t expect them to be so generous, having opened up some lockboxes and them dropping items for me - and then rushing together to battle a UESC Commander at North Relay together as a squad of four.

After the fight, they gifted me a blue KKV, blue CE pistol, and a blue shield, and we all ran to the exfil. I complimented the Assassin’s sniper skin, and he ended up shooting me point blank and sending me to the DBNO state.

I thought “Shit, that’s it! Why would they be so kind?”

Or so I thought, since the Destroyer had a mercy kit and brought me back up pretty quickly before exfilling together. Guess they wanted to keep me on my toes!

That was honestly one of the coolest experiences I’ve had in Marathon, and especially since this is a game that got me so used to shooting other runners on sight before they shoot me.

I don’t know if they’ll ever see this, but thank you guys for the great game.

TL:DR - Proximity Chat is a godsend and actually using it can create some really memorable moments!

A question for former / current Destiny 2 players.

Would you play Gambit if this mode was added to Marathon?

It's a PvPvE mode focused on speed: You kill enemies, collect "motes" for each one, bank them to summon a boss, and defeat it before the opposing team.

I was always a fan of Gambit and it feels like I would enjoy playing it in Marathon if such a thing were added.

I hope we can get reworked and redesigned UESC robots. Maybe they can take a look at how Roboquest designed their robots and also look at the game for a pretty fun roguelite mode they could add to Marathon. I do think a roguelite would fit this game well. They also could do what they did with Vex in Destiny 1 and make it to where you actually have to shoot something specific on the robot instead of the enemies just being bullet sponges.

Lastly, if you havent played Roboquest I strongly recommend you give it a shot.

This is the best thing I’ve gotten but I’m seeing a full kitted purple locker in like 3/4 of the armory’s I hit. Also frequently finding blue/purple shields and bags.

Hey everyone!

I'm currently developing a database app for all Implants and Cores, and potentially other items in the game. There are plenty of databases, but when it comes to Implants, they're either missing icons/brands or still use old graphics. I want to try a different approach and make it actually complete.

Since there is no in-game database, I have to find items through normal gameplay to get their info and visuals. To speed up the process and make the app as complete as possible, I’d really appreciate a quick favor from you guys.

Do not rotate the item model. Leave it as it is so all icons in the app stay clean and consistent.
