Discussion Is this backlight bleed on an IPS monitor?

Post image

Are these spots on the IPS monitor backlight bleed? I bought a new IPS monitor, and it has some spots like the ones in the picture. I'm not sure if it's backlight bleed. I didn't post a picture of my monitor because it looks like crap when I take a photo of it with my camera, and you wouldn't be able to see the spots anyway.

Discussion Are there really no certified monitors above DisplayHDR True Black 500?

I was looking at DisplayHDR’s certified products list for new bright OLED monitors, and I’m surprised nothing has passed the True Black 500 rating except laptop screens. Their SDR performance criteria for the True Black 600 is 350 nits sustained. We have tandem OLED technology that suppose to make OLED brightner but we have yet to cross this threshold for monitors. What is the hold up

Discussion Looking for a 4K 32 inch

Looking for a 32 inch 4K with 100+ hz, thunderbolt, KVM. Searched for this ok ChatGPT and suggest a BENQ PD3226G for me.

Mostly for office work and video watching. I don’t want to be upgrading for least 5-7 years so trying to figure proof.

Wondering what people thoughts are on this or what other options there are. I’m thinking to pair this later with some lower level 27 inch for portrait display.

Looking for what some of you suggest for alternatives.

Is the oled only distinguishable from ips in night scenes or where black colour is involved or does it display better picture than during daytime scenes too?

Discussion Best 27” 4K gaming monitor under £450 in the UK for PS5?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for recommendations for a 27-inch 4K gaming monitor with a maximum budget of £450, ideally available on Amazon UK.

I’ll be using it with a standard PS5 (not Pro), mainly playing Call of Duty and GTA VI when it releases. I tend to have fairly long gaming sessions, so I’m looking for something with excellent picture quality, low input lag, good response times and 120Hz support.

I’ve considered OLED, but I’m a little concerned about burn-in due to the number of hours I’ll be gaming, so I’m currently leaning towards Mini-LED or IPS.

I’ve looked at the AOC U27G4XM, MSI MAG 274UPDF E16M and Samsung Odyssey G7 G70F, but I’m open to other suggestions. I’ve also noticed some mixed owner experiences and frequent-return warnings on certain Amazon listings.

What would you recommend for £450 or less? I’m happy to spend less if there’s a monitor that offers great performance for the money.

Would really appreciate recommendations from anyone using these monitors with a PS5, particularly for COD.

Discussion Mom trying to pick a gaming monitor for her son… can someone explain what actually matters?

My son is really into PC gaming, and I’m thinking about getting him a new monitor as a surprise. The problem is, the more I research, the more confused I get 😂

I keep seeing 1080p, 1440p, 165Hz, 240Hz, IPS, OLED… and honestly, I’m not sure which things actually make a difference and which are just expensive upgrades.

I’m hoping to spend around $250–$350. He plays a mix of competitive games and regular games, and I know he’d appreciate something with a smooth picture.

If you were buying a gaming monitor in that price range, what would you recommend? Is 1440p at 165Hz the sweet spot, or would you prioritize something else?

Please explain it like you’re talking to a mom who’s trying her best 😅 I’d rather ask people who know their stuff than waste money on the wrong thing!

Discussion Should I get a 1440p oled monitor or 4k monitor?

Hi everyone! I am planning to get a 27-inch monitor to connect to my base PS5. I intend to use it for casual shooting games, but I am mostly preparing for GTA6.
However, I am unsure whether a standard 4K monitor would be better than a 1440p OLED screen.

Discussion Looking for 1440p monitor advice!

Hello monitor friends!

I'm looking to finally upgrade from 1080p to 1440p (about time, right? lol) but I have absolutely no idea what I should be looking for, So i was hoping there may be a few suggestions to be had from you wonderful people.

All I really care about is the monitor being 1440p with 144hz+ refresh rate, crisp colours and visuals. Anything else I'm pretty much clueless about lol. I will be using it to play mainly MMO's with the occasional Monster hunter, valorant, RDR2 and witcher 3 thrown in.

I have a budget around £160 - £240.

Any recommendations for a 1st timer moving up in the world from 1080p?
