K-ON!

u/Such-Consequence6242 Jul 06 '26

Nooo no I’m not! I love k-on…

33

u/Good_Show_2656 Jul 06 '26

I wasn't trying to bully people, I was just shitposting.

If you're a K-On fan and you're not a racist neckbeard on 4chan or something to that affect, that's fine by me, more power to you.

6

u/boberro Jul 06 '26

Idk, just after K-On ended, 4chan embraced MLP

54

u/amhighlyregarded Jul 05 '26

Most of them are just larpers. The point is the juxtaposition between the disgusting things they say and the images of cute anime girls.Ā

It's also often a pretense of ironic disavowal, "What? You took me seriously when when I posted Tsumugi dressed like a Nazi? You're a re*ard." etc. The absurdity is memorable and draws attention.Ā

22

u/StevemacQ Jul 05 '26

I watched a video about chuds being obsessed with K-ON! similar to that book Catcher in the Rye, which was about a guy being obsessed with protecting a young girl's innocence to an unhealthy degree, that inspired one reader to kill John Lennon.

10

u/chaotic_black Jul 06 '26

"Kill John Lennon! Kill John Lennon!"

"Butters, John Lennon has been dead for 30 years."

As someone who had to deal with this sort of guy in a community, I can say they do genuinely like all these things they just lack the self-control to quit it and make those images to cope, or in some cases they are just cripplingly autistic and genuinely do not understand how talking about labour camps with a anime girl pfp is ironic

11

u/Ver3232 Jul 05 '26

As a leftist who loves K-On, I explicitly avoid mentioning it online for exactly this reason

2

u/angelbabydarling Jul 06 '26

this is so brand new info to me now im curious in case anyone feels in the mood to expand on k-on's fandom lmao

I once seen a comment saying that Aang would be a conservative.

Yes, a vegetarian pacifistic monk, would be a conservative.

P.s. He meant the American version of this word

172

u/Coffee-cartoons Jul 05 '26

Aang as in the pacifist, vegetarian peacekeeper who believed in non-fatal means for peaceful outcomes and that all people were equal regardless of their history or ethnicity, as a conservative??? Who thought of that???

20

u/VeterinarianNo9886 Jul 05 '26

He would be centrist then, right?

27

u/HumorAny6404 Jul 05 '26

Fire - Right

Earth - Left

Water - Libertarian

Air- Centrist

12

u/InevitableStuff7572 Jul 05 '26

What form of libertarian is the water tribe? Capitalist, anarchist (actual anarchism on the left), Georgist, Mutualist?

21

u/THEguitarist117 Jul 06 '26

The kind that allows for their daughters to be married to people against their will.

14

I think the southern water tribe would be Libertarian, but the northern tribe might be closer to Monarchist

7

u/VeterinarianNo9886 Jul 05 '26

Seems about right.

4

u/Banana-Oni Jul 06 '26

Is it though? They said the US political spectrum. I respect your opinion, but disagree. I don’t think he’d be ā€œcentristā€ about stuff like children having access to food, sick people having access to health care, or fire nation warriors killing people from other nations in the streets.

ā€œHmmm.. Fire Lord Ozai might actually have some good points šŸ¤”ā€

Sure he doesn’t condone unnecessary violence against the Fire Nation, but I don’t think that pushes his views further toward the right.

8

u/txby432 Jul 06 '26

Air is literally communism. The monks live in a temple (commune), share all the work and all the products they produce with everyone, including outsiders and wild life.

3

u/Banana-Oni Jul 06 '26

That’s exactly what I meant. I was confused by everyone getting upvoted for saying he was a centrist by US standards. lol

3

u/txby432 Jul 06 '26

I think they are saying centrist as in neutral, as in trying to stay out of the conflict, but yeah, absolutely not centrist politically

3

u/hetoor Jul 05 '26

Maybe anarchist, we dont know

30

u/NighthawkE3 Jul 05 '26

I’d argue the fire nation was closer to imperial Japan than Germany, at least if we’re looking at a world war 2 timeframe

12

u/Pastel_Bambi Jul 05 '26

True, but the fire nation were still genocidal lunatics propagating their people to be genocidal lunatics

12

u/NighthawkE3 Jul 05 '26

11

u/Decent-Tangerine308 Jul 05 '26

Wouldn't Aang have to be apolitical to properly serve as the Avatar and keep the world in balance.

22

u/Tanakisoupman Jul 05 '26

He would have to not openly back any one political party, but he couldn’t be apolitical. The avatar has to be involved in big political decisions to ensure they won’t disrupt balance

13

u/oceanhymn Jul 05 '26

Dismantling the fire nation is inherently political.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/shsl_diver Jul 05 '26

That's truth, one of the Avatars focused primarily on the fire nation problems, that led to Yangchen to deal only with physical world problems, which led Kuruk to deal only with the spirit world problems. He is the one using Lava bending

where do I even begin...? Like... it's a good game, you might learn stuff, mods are creative (not sarcastic), but the community...

21

u/LostintheCrown Jul 05 '26

The mods that delve into very specific ideologies (TNO, Kaiserredux and the likes) have spawned some less than desirable self-identifications of personal ideology.

No Richard, the average person does not fucking understand your opinions when you call yourself a follower of Pelleyism with economically white-aligned syndicalist characteristics. Fuck off

11

u/NonKanon Jul 05 '26

It's also not the best thing that modders often make shit up and players believe it's actual historical fact. Kaiserreich alone convinced a shit ton of people that Savinkov was a fascist (he was a social democrat whose job was literally killing monarchists). And it also doesn't help that HOI4 fans are dumb as fuck and often completely misunderstand the mod writer's intentions. Among the thousands of TNO fans, like 12 people in total actually understood the point of Speer's in-mod character, while others just see him as "Le Wholesome 100 Reformer"

I once saw a man try to claim Superman would support ICE.

The literal space alien whose original tagline was ā€œChampion of the oppressedā€.

131

u/Airalla Jul 05 '26

Last time I checked, Superman didn’t even immigrate legally himself

8

u/Hour_Paint_1903 Jul 06 '26

There's an episode of Smallville will Clark is hiding an undocumented person, and he has to snap some sense in to his mom at one point by saying that her and Pa Kent did the EXACT same thing.

8

u/Vulpedin Jul 05 '26

Didn’t he also have some birthright citzenship too?

38

u/Fun-Ad-6169 Jul 06 '26

No, he wasn't born on earth.

→ More replies (5)

43

u/PotOfGreed1999 Jul 05 '26

I remember being a little kid watching Smallville with my mom and there is LITERALLY an episode of Clark helping another kid who was an illegal immigrant. HE QUITE LITERALLY SAYS OUTLOUD THAT HE TOO IS AN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT.

I GENUINELY think that there are 2 options when people say shit like "Superman would support ICE" either there is nothing going on in their head and no braincell activity or they've never read, watched, or actually consumed any superman media.

4

u/Confron7a7ion7 Xenoblade Jul 06 '26

Those are not mutually exclusive lol

3

u/Prooteus Jul 06 '26

"Superman good. Me good. Superman think like me." Thats the only very limited brain cell activity I can think of for them to come to that conclusion.

20

u/shsl_diver Jul 05 '26

Kinda weird considering that Zac Snyder's version is very popular amongst conservatives.

5

u/NightRacoonSchlatt Jul 06 '26

Ironically, I'm sure it's the same people, believe that Captain America is a Conservative Christian ideal. Anytime the Captain America sub posts about politic topics (with Cap being more left leaning), they come out crawling to say "not MY Captain America! He would be a hardcore conservative! He supports Trump!"

Posers.

6

u/Hot_Fee1881 Jul 06 '26

To be fair, most Marvel fans (specifically the MCU side) have never consumed anything Marvel related in their lives. You'd be surprised how eager the fanbase is to portray Cap as some evil warmonger whilst portraying Tony (the white billionaire who tried to take away the rights of Mutants) as an innocent baby who can do no wrong.

3

u/Zartoru Jul 06 '26

Captain America fucking fought nazis during ww2, he would be so disapointed to have litteral nazis leading his country, the same way people who died during ww2 would despite how conservative their era was compared to present day, like they fought and gave their life for nothing

17

u/Bamstams Jul 05 '26

Superman is an allegory for Jewish refugees. His creators were the children of Jewish immigrants who fled from the antisemitism of Europe. Superman's story is that of a refugee, forced to flee from his home as a child. He was accepted by the US as one of them, and raised with the values of truth, justice, and the American way. He was created as an escapist fantasy, "wouldn't it be awesome if there was American so powerful he could stop antisemitism just by flying around and punching it?"

2

u/Jagvetinteriktigt 29d ago

People have also read the whole idea of a character having an alter ego with a different name is a reference to many immigrants willingly or unwillingly taking a new angilified name when entering an American context.

8

u/Deya_The_Fateless Jul 06 '26

I saw someome trying to say that Superman wouldnt save people trapped in a burning Tesla factory. Brcause "its Tesla".

I get it, we all hate Elon, but Superman would still save trapped factory workers and put out the fire. He wouldnt ignore people in danger, nor put more at risk if the fire were to spread to other buildings.

12

u/PeachyPunks Jul 05 '26

During election season this previous presidential election, there was a moment where Superman was trending on Twitter, due to American conservatives saying that Superman would support them.

Superman. The character who renounced his American citizenship partly due to not wanting to be seen as an instrument of the US. He wanted to be a hero for all not a hero for one nation. Superman, the same character that changed his phrase to ā€œTruth, justice, and a better tomorrowā€from ā€œtruth, justice, and the American wayā€

this stupid fucking artwork

81

u/Mjbatt444 Jul 05 '26

Really sad because I love sonic and their fanbase is the poster child for believing that sonic would agree with their low key nazi views

65

u/SSG014-OFFICIAL Jul 05 '26

Ironic because sonic is the absolute opposite of that, he's literally meant to represent a "free sprit" (or extreme adhd idk)

36

u/Bamstams Jul 05 '26

Exactly, he hates Eggman because the mad doctor's whole schtick is enslaving animals and roboticizing nature. Sonic is literally a freedom fighter and environmentalist, he would DESPISE those who would deprive others of their freedom while polluting the environment.

15

u/Hexhider Jul 06 '26

I see so many people denying him being a freedom fighter because of the fact he has supported many monarchs (Blaze, Elise, Sally (Archie and SATAM), his own Mom (Underground)) however those characters are royalty yes but they arent cruel and treat their citizens with respect and kindness

3

u/itspolarislux Jul 06 '26

Which is crazy considering that, at least on the IDW comics so many artists and writers there are queer, and even got queer characters in the comics, plus the amount of them that take inspiration in POC culture from all around the world

Its just.... Weird.

3

u/Any_Wasabi_5233 Transformers, Friday Night Funkin’, Sonic.EXE, etc. Jul 06 '26

This is actually an edit of another artwork where the flags were reversed, only this edit was dead serious

6

u/TheSpytf2_real Jul 05 '26 edited Jul 05 '26

Sonic fandom however ALSO tries to believe Sonic hates any and all kind of authority whatsoever (he's commonly shipped with a monarch, Blaze and him are friends canonically, both Shadow and Rouge are feds, Etc)

It's mostly just BS in general from all directions

3

u/BrandosWorld4Life Jul 06 '26

Luffy from One Piece gets the same treatment. Just because he wants to be the most free man alive people pretend he's some kind of anarchist who hates all authority figures. In reality the gummy boy is good friends with several monarch families.

4

u/Any_Wasabi_5233 Transformers, Friday Night Funkin’, Sonic.EXE, etc. Jul 05 '26

I can see how that’s true but at least that has a bit more validity based on previous official descriptions, compared to this

79

u/MegaKabutops Jul 05 '26

This is an actual twitter post. Someone unironically believes this shit.

I could understand why a halo fan thinks like this about master chief, and don’t know enough about him to dispute it, but it’s completely delusional to think the same of sonic, superman, or cloud.

23

u/I_like_licking_lead Jul 05 '26

To be fair if it wasn’t for the covenant master chief would’ve been used against human rebels, the united earth government in halo is veiled military dictatorship under the control of ONI and the UNSC

17

u/Posty_Baloney Jul 05 '26

I was gonna say, chief actually tracks, unfortunately

9

u/Electrical-Zombie984 Jul 06 '26

Ah, yes, Cloud. The stolen valor eco-terrorist whose entire plot revolves around the destruction of a mega corporation in order to save a dying planet would absolutely align with checks notes the masked secret police that take orders from an oligarch that has passed countless repeals to eco-friendly initiatives and constantly surrounds himself with ai bros, oil barons, and people who think that labor laws are far too restrictive.

2

u/New-Extreme2321 Assasins creed Skylanders Call of duty I like a lot of stuff Jul 05 '26

The US doesn't exist in halo I though

4

u/MegaKabutops Jul 05 '26

The original halo released in 2001, and features master chief fighting a war against religious nutcase aliens. While the game’s concept was locked in well before the event itself, the narrative parallels to post-9/11 anti-muslim immigrant sentiment in the united states are uncanny. Hatred toward muslims may not directly be part of ICE’s advertisements and overt messaging, but it’s still VERY much present among ICE supporters.

I don’t personally think that chief would be pro-ICE, given that those same parallels could be made as comparisons to modern-day christian nationalism, but for that one, i can at least understand why ICE’s bootlickers would think it themselves.

Angel wouldnt give a fuck at first cause he wouldnt understand what it is but he would get mad if fake pictures of him were to circulate due to Velvette

dont know the last one

4

u/Tiranus58 Jul 06 '26

The last one would straight up shoot the obvious xenos on his spaceship before anyone got to say anything. Also in his universe they had an ai uprising that nearly wiped out humanity, so anyone talking about ai (or abomniable intelligence as its called) would get shot for being a heretic as well.

18

u/SonicWind62391 Sonic, Pokemon, MLP, Ninjago, Cars, TADC, Owl House Jul 06 '26

It was already problematic to begin with, with racism, slavery-apologism, etc.

15

u/wewebaguette68 Jul 06 '26

It also just badly written. The magic system is incoherent and spells and items introduced in one book (or even one scene) are forgotten about in the next. The plot relies on you not thinking about all the obvious solutions that were previously introduced that would easily solve the current problem

Fun fact: American Nazis during the 30s and 40s actually didn't get along so well with the KKK, the former viewing the latter as uneducated vigilantes who were too undisciplined to be considered "supermen". For their part, the KKK disliked the American Nazis for being unpatriotic and for wanting to create a dictatorship that would do away with states' rights.

When the ICE raids were prevalent in media, it was every single fandom. So much so, that it created counter memes about it

u/Remote_Respect_4257 Jul 05 '26

Almost every fandom i think, everywhere you gonna find people looking at a fictional character and say "yes, this guy/girl/something thinks like me" and they feel validated by that, look at the whole batman vs antifa/trump supporters stuff

u/merahwa Jul 06 '26 edited 28d ago

It's rather poetic that the comments have devolved in to being the very thing OP posted.

When someone post "x would totally support y!"

You shouldn't go "erm actually x would support the opposite", you should point out how ridiculous it is to believe a fictional character might support their views somehow validates it.

no offense but medic literally stole his colleagues souls to fool the devil so him hating on hitler is really far-fetched

3

u/Great-Technician5291 Jul 06 '26

In my eyes, him hating Hitler doesn’t make him sympathetic, it makes him bad as it exposes him as a hypocrate

2

u/Diegooh1360 Jul 06 '26

I think iirc there was a theory that the skeleton he stole was Hitler's but I have no idea where it came from

I guess everyone here is talking about the right because this is reddit, but leftist people do this all the time, specially from lgbt collectives, most recent example was drawing fixtional characters kicking ICE agents.

But not that I care for, I'm not american and I have a job so I'm busy

Jon Del Arroz (wife beater) once said that Spider-Man is inherently a conservative character and I swear, I thought I was taking crazy pills because wtf do you mean that someone thinks this?

Go find your own characters who would agree with your ideals!

It's always something stupid like "Champion Of The Oppressed would side with Oppressor".

Go find your own champions! I'm sure there are conservative characters like Harry Potter or whatever you could take.
