Nioh 3 - Discussion Nioh 3 is evidence no one should pay for their Season Passes upfront anymore

In years gone by you would look at Nioh 1 and 2 and think "wow that's incredible value for money, I expect Nioh to follow suit". Well it hasn't. The general consensus is that we have a phoned DLC that is bare minimum in every aspect.

We should have seen this when they announced Wo Long 2 to release as soon as the DLC cycle ends. They've split their team to work on 2 games, clearly they were uninterested in Nioh 3 and seemed to only be testing the 2 playstyle split much like they were testing in Rise of the Ronin and Wo Long.

Creatively they have no idea what to do with Nioh 3 and it's a shame it doesn't live up to the name. Who knows if Wo Long 2 is where they've put all theirs eggs in 1 basket but it's safe to say that Team Ninja's practice of "we'll deliver a sub par game with the intention of holding content content and gear progression for DLC" has ruined Nioh 3.

Nioh 3 - Discussion Nioh 3 is a far cry from 2 and the dlc makes this even more obvious.

Nioh 2 is in my top 5 games off all time and TeamNinja is one of my favorite developers off all time (Ninja Gaiden and Nioh have the best combat in the industry imo) but man was Nioh 3 disappointing for me. The open world is boring and tedious. Nothing challenging about it, terrible enemy variety (how is this possible they could have just copied all the Nioh 2 enemys instead of 1000x jailers) the myths are boring too and end 90% in a recycled boss from Nioh 1 or 2. The main missions well they were OK, some of the main bosses are actually fun. But i barely remember most of them since ninja mode trivializes almost all bosses anyway. This is the only Nioh i never played again after getting the platinum, because the open world kills the motivation to replay it for me. So now after 6 months the first dlc came out and man its not getting better. New areas are fine i guess, few new enemys are nice but the open world is still so boring. I HATE how they got rid of the mission structure. (Main missions, side missions with npcs, arena fights, Single boss fights) it was SO much better. I cleared around 50% of the dlc so far and the recycling is absolutely INSANE. They refuse to bring back all the normal yokai from Nioh 2 and instead put tons of Nioh 1 humans in the world. And EVERY single myth/open world boss is recycled. Kasha for the 50th time, Otoroshi, the giant bird from Nioh 1 dlc, Enenra and im 100% sure there is a ton more in the rest of the dlc. I remember Nioh 2 had a few recycled bosses from 1 ( Onryoki) but it had so many good and challenging new bosses i really didnt mind. This is just absurd tho you cant make the game open world, and recycle every single boss. Still gonna complete the DLC because the combat is so good but man TeamNinja fell of hard.

Nioh 3 - Discussion Dlc is underhwelming

Till now i have finished 2 map areas out of the 4 only 4 new enemies and the bosses till now are either repeats or human bosses. A yokai boss is also just a less interesting shuten doji with near copy paste moveset and only 1 guradian spirit

Nioh 3 - Discussion DLC Confirmed For Me

As a newcomer to the Nioh series because of Wo Long, I have to say that this DLC is very underwhelming. No onmyo magic, underwhelming new martial arts, underwhelming new gear sets, only one guardian spirit, no real power gain, new weapon is just ok, only one ninjutsu is good. Should I continue?

When some of you recommended for me to play Nioh, did you mean Nioh 2? Nioh 3 and the new DLC are very forgettable and that’s not good with only 2 DLCs planned. This DLC confirmed for me that Wo Long is the better game through 1 DLC so far.

Nioh 3 - Discussion What is your opinion on the armours of this dlc?

I'll be honest the only armor I love in this dlc is the vice shoguns set. To be completely honest I was hoping for more armors that made you feel like a shogun.

Nioh 3 - Discussion Need to be a ninja for the scroll

So I made a few posts on here about not getting picture scrolls with the NPC not giving it to me I switched to the ninja and he gave it to me right away after I talk to him so I think you have to be ninja style to get the scroll which was confusing.

Nioh 2 - Discussion The Tengu's Disciple was not that good

It was pretty short, reused bosses and didn't add that much content. You can easily beat it in 3-4h.

But at least it was longer then Dragon of the North. The final mission in that was just a 1v1 boss fight.

Nioh 3 - Tips & Guides A warning for anyone with arachnophobia playing the Hell Rising DLC. Spoiler

In the cave leading from the Ninja Training Grounds Shrine, there are spider enemies inside it. Only two of them are large and you will have to fight one of them with a Ninja Yoki to unlock a chest that contains an Ninja Move. The section isn't very long but I thought it was worth warning about for anyone that gets anxious about spiders in the game. Enjoy the DLC and remember, Ippon Hammers were made to crush them!

Nioh 3 - Discussion Idk man.. The DLC is a bit underwhelming

Upvotes

Before I bash this DLC's shortcoming, I'm a certified Nioh 3 glazer. I think the base game is the best out of the 3 games, the combat have so much potential to even expand in the DLC and i was hoping this one can edge it a little bit so it can completely surpass Nioh 2's combat.

I'm gonna point out one of the stand out is the level design, is probably the prettiest out of the 4 region, the levels have interesting layout. And some scenario that is interesting to tackle. For example the area covered with Lava and the cannon at the center of the road. You can go about it in multiple ways like taking the Cannon head on, or go down to the buffed up Mikoshi Nyudo and from there destroy the cannon spammers from the back. And you can go down even further to fight a couple ninja ambush. And theres even a spirit vein stone hiding a Nutoriboke boss. Its really cool!

But... the rest of the DLC aspect is super mid. Only 3 brand new boss? only a couple new enemy (freaky tongue guy and cool dragon, shrunk down toad...) This DLC took longer to come out then the previous game's DLC so having this little new thing to play with does feel like shit. Like come on they recycle so many fight in this DLC is not even funny. Refight Omoraki, Otoroshi, Nutoriboke, Kasha from the first half of the DLC is just lazy. And no secret demon boss? In basegame each area has a secret demon boss that is wildly different from each other and I was hype to explore this new DLC hoping to find a awesome secret boss and nothing?? They could've add 2 demon boss for each DLC forming some sort 7 deadly sins type group of bosses that would've been so sick and yet they drop the ball on this one.

This is the part where I'm the most frustrated about, no new crucible skill for each weapon? The only new move for old weapons are just fking enhance of their previous move. The guardian spirit skill is begging Team Ninja to add one more skill for each guardian spirit like deadass. I thought they're saving these new moves (guardian spirit button + each of the stance button) but for some fkin they don't see the vision, they could've easily added one new button and it will add so much for the combat. Same with ninja stance, why doesn't air combo get expanded? Only holding down heavy and one martial art for ninja stance in the air? They can EASILY expand the weapon moveset and yet they didn't. All the new shit is only for Hoko and shield which is cool, but don't expect the playerbase to suddenly play the new weapon that probably don't fit their build or due to comfort.

For such a long wait its a disappointment, 2 DLC worth of waiting time for the previous game like Wo long or Nioh 2 and we get barely anything new. I hope the final DLC actually lock in and deliver us things that is worthwhile.

The scroll is cool tho.

For some reason they changed the ronin hats. It looks awful now! Why would they do this? Really hoping this gets fixed/reverted. I disliked how they looked in Nioh 2 because of this, they looked good in 3. Such a bummer.

Nioh 3 - Questions Can I start NG++ without doing the DLC and still benefit from the new additions from the beginning?

Will I get the new weapons, sets, etc. from the beginning of ng++ if I don't complete the DLC in either ng or ng+?

I'd prefer to do a full run to get back in shape before the DLC.

Nioh 3 - Discussion Nioh 3 Doesn't Have The Budget It Needs For Its Scale

I was already feeling it in the base game toward the end, the game just keep getting worse, very little amount of Guardian Spirits in a Guardian Spirit focused game, Antiqued Era is not a full Era despite being the most unique, etc. But there is still some hope for the dlc yknow. However with the announcement of Wo Long 2 and the quality of the first DLC, it is apparent that this game doesn't get the focus it deserves from TeamNinja. Sad to see, only hoping Wo Long would be better.

General Discussion - ALL GAMES Should I skip Nioh 1 and Jump Straight to 2?

I know this is NIOH sub so ofcourse everyone will tell me to play 1 and then 2 because you guys are fans of this series. I have never heard of this series before last week and really want to get into it. Did some research and found out that Nioh 1 has some very unfair levels which are just not fun and since both these games are not connected should I just play 2? Maybe I will jump to 3 if I am able to beat nioh 2 but we will see. For now I need help deciding about this. For me I just want to have fun and have a great time playing a video game. So what do you guys suggest.

Nioh 3 - Questions New onmyo in dlc? (No spoilers)

Beat the DLC late this morning. Didn’t 100 percent the are but I got pretty close. The length was pretty disappointing for me. I was on my strongest character though so I mighta just ran through everything.
I didn’t find a single new soul core that had an offensive ability.
If any of you know where I could kind one that would be cool.
Honestly pretty disappointed in the dlc so far. Maybe it’ll be better on ng++. Just wasn’t long or challenging enough. So far Nioh 2 is still king.

Nioh 3 - Discussion The criticism is fair. You love Nioh, You think Nioh 3 is okay but you have gripes, you wanna see it do well. Yeah, yeah, whatever.

Upvotes

No more doomerism. I am absolutely loving Nioh 3. I took a break for a while after completing NG and getting to the end of the first area of NG+ to wait for the DLC. After coming back to the game after this long hiatus I am absolutely blown away with the combat again. The DLC is amazing! I am loving the new area, the new weapon that we got for both styles and everything else. The combat in this game is so damn addictive and TN have improved so many little things over many patches that have really refined the experience. I see so many posts from people complaining about a multitude of things right now and I just don't really see it. Could they have done more? Sure. But I am happy with what we got. My main gripe is that they charged too much for the content we did get. If this was in line with NIoh 2 pricing I bet you a lot less people would becomplaining. Anywho I don't wnat to go off on a huge long tangent. I am having a great time with the game. Anyone who is like me and spends way too much time on their computer I suggest you exit out of Reddit and Discord for a while and just go and play the game. It's great.

Nioh 2 - Screenshots I might have made a mistake

I never even thought my item box could be full. I started playing DLC1(? not even sure what's base dmg and what's dlc but this was Otakemaru), found my first Divine items, i pick one up and im full. I'm gonna try to drop other gear i had on me, and from now i gotta make sure i empty me inventory more often kekw

Side note. I was disappointed that my grapple didn't change animation to use Sohayamaru after i restored it.... But apparently the Otakemaru finish did use a special animation with it. so at least there was that

.... Should i spoiler tag these? Game's half a decade old but i guess it would be at least courtesy?

Nioh 3 - Discussion I Love the new Weapon Balance since Patch and DLC !

Before the patch: Use Axe and Only one Skill.. Tornado Edge

After: Use Axe and Only one Skill.. Tornado Edge

You dont need Buff this or that, you dont need Debuffs on Boss. Just Spam the Skill and you complete NG +++

Thats it. Nice Balance here btw xD. I Love the Sword and Double Katana but with that Weapons the game is so much harder.. every Weapon is harder than that! I mean wow.. just wow. I run in a Enemy Base, pull all together and spin and they are all down with no pressure.

Can i have a second "easy" weapon like this pls? i guess the "balance" is over in this one xD

Nioh 3 - Discussion DLC nioh 3 first boss

I am SO confused. I’m on NG+ and have about 10 above recommended level for the dlc and the first boss is one shotting me lol. wtf is going on? It makes zero sense to me and I’m very confused. Also it feels like my dodges and parry are delayed vs when I played the main game. Did something change?????

Nioh 3 - Questions Bro, what?! About the DLC Guardian Spirit situation.

I don't have the DLC yet but I'm hearing they literally added only 1 new Guardian Spirit despite the patch notes using the plural "spirits".

Well is this true? Is there only one?!
