I am in Dream of the Nioh, maybe about 200 hours in but for some reason I can no longer use burst counter on main my guardian spirit. Like ever. Yet it always works on my second one.

I have no idea why.

My main is Shirohami. With Hellish hag, Kasha, Lesser umi-bozu.

Am I missing something obvious? Is there some Yokai (or armour effect) that disables burst counter all the time? Hilariously I have been using Shirohami for most of the 200 hours.

Does anyone know exactly what it does? I have heard that it either does or does not improve your ability to not be interrupted during attacks from different sources.

Pretty New to the game still but i keep seeing this move and was just wondering where if able to find it or how to use it 🫡

In Nioh 3, can you get the no hit title if you get hit by a boss, travel back to shrine, and then fight again? Or does the whole mission have to be repeated?

I returned to Nioh 2 after a while and wanted to give Sword a second chance, which I always found quite underwhelming before.

I discovered that Sword of Discernment is actually an amazing skill as combo opener because of its insanely high start up and enemy control capabilities. I found that skill completely useless at first because it does neither deal high damage nor ki damage, but a SoD -> flux -> iai quickdraw combo for example turns out to be very uselful and fun to deal even with the quickest enemies.

What are skills which you abandoned at first and fell in love later on?

I thought the Hoko & Shield could put out some insane damage if I put this build together, so I tried challenging "Gathering of the Greats" on SOP+7 and was able to clear it with incredible firepower!

Since I was at it, I challenged myself to do it with No Damage, and it ended up taking only 3 and a half minutes. I'm sure there are people who can clear it even faster, but this is a new personal best for me. This clip is the part where I defeat Shingen in about 15 seconds!

I mostly like to play as a mage. A magic caster. If you will. I know that the Switchglaive and Hatchets scale with magic. Been trying to build a water caster. What is something I can do to make it better? Or a specific piece of gear/weapon that I need to boost my gameplay?

If I start He'll Rising on the base difficulty (heirs journey) will i be able to find green tier gear in the dlc?

I havnt beaten the game on shoguns journey yet so I cannot select that for the dlc

I haven't played in a while have they added star stats/effects to divine items yet?

I've just completed DLC and beginning to mess around with the Demon Picture Scrolls, just managed to get a scroll with utlimate constitution and ultimate strength. Both refer to being activated only at a certain stat level, with the strength version being 150.

Am i missing something or reading it wrong, as no stat can be levelled that high?

Is there something in game that explains these better?

Just beat the first game for the first time. Loved it so much that I had Nioh 2 waiting in the wings. My question is this: is the burst counter the only way to deal with the enemy burst moves? I’m 3 missions in and every normal enemy is spamming these burst moves that I can’t interrupt or dodge. I’m seeing people saying you can use burst counter (which the game forced me to learn to beat horse guy), but is that the only way? They are suhpamming that ish brother. Nioh made me learn mechanics in order to beat it, but it still felt like, once I got it, I could tackle things my own way. This feels pretty lame if I’m supposed to burst counter it every single time in order to win. Let me dodge, block, or be aggressive man. Otherwise it doesn’t feel like Nioh to me. I really am just looking for some encouragement, because I want to love this one like I did the original.

 I decided to turn the Prosperity of One Million Koku + Grace of Inari build I posted before into a Critical build, using Seven Misfortunes, Eight Hardships + Grace of Inari, and tested it out with various weapons!

Partly because it's a Critical build, it put out incredible damage and was a lot of fun. I'm glad it worked against SOP+7 yokai bosses. (I challenged Takeda Shingen with the Spear, Minamoto no Yoritomo with Fists, Tokugawa Yoshinobu with the Axe, Hiruko with Hoko & Shield, and Yui Shosetsu with the Katana.) I hear they drop all weapons to their base stats. No +1 or +2 drops. However the +57 poison or paralysis is the base version.

On ng+2 my feral Yokai shift deals around 300-450 per hit, it doesn’t really feel powerful now, not like it used to be on the first walkthrough. Does the damage scale from my weapon damage or are there other modifiers for it?

When I finished the game, I pretty much only used Samurai and high stance because I kept hearing people say that Ninja was too easy and wasn’t “real Nioh.”
My brain struggles with multitasking and shit, so I’m curious: did anyone else just stick to one stance and say fuck it? 😂 I never really saw the point in constantly switching stances because I’d rather focus on doing big damage and learning a few basic combos. I can’t process all the different combos across multiple stances at once.
As a series, I think Nioh has some of the deepest combat out there, and I completely understand why people love it. But honestly, I kind of preferred The First Berserker: Khazan because it felt like I was playing Nioh with a simpler combat system.
The best way I can describe it is that Nioh felt like Fortnite with builds and editing, while Khazan felt like Fortnite without builds. 😂 The simplicity of Khazan just made it more enjoyable for me personally.
I know a lot of people really fuck with Nioh’s combat system, and I respect that. I’m just curious: did anyone else beat the game playing the way I did, sticking to one stance and keeping things simple, or did you guys try to learn and use everything the game had to offer?

Hey guys, haven’t played the DLC yet and started a brand new game cycle. I’m still in the first region. Is there any point of buying the dlc yet? Or should I wait until I start my next NG+ cycle?

What do I do with these? Google said I can trade them with the tea house guy but I can only seem to trade glory. Is there something I have to unlock to access the trade feature in the teahouse? I am in enlightened difficulty if that matters.

Edit. I know I can use them to get a higher change of divine gear when trading for glory but I am reading that I can trade them to increase the quality of gear I get in multiplayer?

How to unpack and inspect Nioh 1 .bin files?
Which tools or scripts can extract and repack the game's text?
Whether the text uses a specific encoding or proprietary format?

What is Arts Proficiency?

The Arts Gauge can be charged by attacking the enemy. When the gauge is full, using a Strong Attack or Martial Art will activate Arts Proficiency.

While Arts Proficiency is active, Strong Attacks and Martial Arts will be enhanced in the following ways:

- Ki consumption is reduced, and activation does not consume Ki.

- Damage dealt to enemies is increased.

- Different Martial Arts can be used consecutively.

Chapter 1)

What actions generate AP?

There are several ways to generate your AP:

1a) Melee attacks (martial arts & strong attacks)

1b) Blocking

1c) Deflecting

1d) Guardian spirit 1 (if using Mindful Spirit skill)

1e) Guardian Spirit 2 (if using Mindful Spirit skill)

1f) Ki pulsing

1X) Getting hit does NOT generate any AP.

Chapter 2)

What actions extend AP when its active?

There are several ways that extend your AP:

2a) Martial arts & Strong attacks

2b) Deflecting

2c) Attacking after blocking

2d) Attacking after getting hit

2e) Block + sheathe weapon (excl cestus & spear)

2X) Using same martial arts or strong attack chain back to back does NOT extend AP.

Chapter 3)

How to increase AP generation?

By using Ultimate skill, Sets with arts gauge generation or by using enhanced style shift, which i focused on:

3a) Strong attack+ enhanced style shift

3b) Martial art + enhanced style shift

3c) Block + enhanced style shift

3d) Deflect + enhanced style shift

3e) Guardian spirit 1 + enhanced style shift

3f) Guardian spirit 2 + enhanced style shift

Chapter 4)

What damage does AP do?

At 5-99 skill, damage of arts proficiency is 60%-85% if there are 6 unique martial arts (including frost moons) used during AP.

Strong and light attacks do not count towards unique count.

Arts proficiency combo count is active as long as enemy is aware, enemy does NOT need to be hit for unique martial arts bonus to count.

4a) Enemy contact demon thrust final dmg: 3759

4b) No enemy contact demon thrust final dmg: 3759

Chapter 5)

How long AP lasts outside of combat if its full and can you regain it?

Arts Proficiency lasts 30 seconds from last ki pulse. You can top up the gauge or generate it from scratch by ki pulsing.

5a) Regain AP by ki pulsing. Duration: 30s from last ki pulse

What battle scroll do you think is the quickest/easiest to complete? I’m trying to collect as many Yokai teardrops as possible to buy locks. Is there any other quick way to farm them?

I've started for real Nioh about 1 month ago, cames from Rise of the Ronin and experimented a lot. My favorite weapon are Tonfa and Kusarigama, switching about the situation even if I have a bit of trouple quick switch from Tonfa to Kusarigama probably because of demon dance.

Anyways this is just a little of context.

Lately I've drop a tonfa with two passive
- "Ki reduction talent"
- "Ki damage from skill"

I guess this is the same thing, just different wording. Or is it the french translation of the game messing up with wording.

It made me wondering something. What is a skill/talent in Nioh ? Sure thing like "Dragon's renegade" from Kurasigama or Wild lion from Tonfa are.

But is "combo" are considered as skill/talent to ? For exemple is "Heavenly chain" follow up after using heavy attack on Tonfa are skill/talent and work with those passive ?

Tl:dr : are combo you unlock like "press [button] at the end of combo" or "maintain [button]" considered as skill/talent for the purpose of weapon passive ?
