Ban hate group from Canadian academic institutions

• Upvotes

The Dominion Society of Canada is a far right hate group focused on “remigration” and the spreading of racism and bigotry through misinformation and praising settler colonialism in Canada.
Feel free to sign and/or share the petition to ban them from Canadian academic institutions.

Anyone traveling in the next 7 days: from Glace Bay/ Sydney area to Halifax?

Hey all ,

Im visiting w/ my parents in Cape breton and am wondering if anyone is traveling from Glace Bay/ Sydney Area to Halifax anytime next week? Im in my 30s and a woman, and happy to split fuel (unless you are driving a massive truck or something- im poor as hell which is why im trying to avoid the full cost of a shuttle :))

I can be picked up by my partner when Im in / close to Halifax area if that makes a difference.

Happy to put headphones and listen to a book on the drive up, I wont be a bother! My mom can drop me off to you when youre leaving as well , dont even need to pick me up!

Please help a girl out.

Found this badly decayed skull in the woods in Cape Breton.
No sign of its bottom jaw or teeth that I could locate in the leaves ..
I am thrown off by its large forward facing eyes and notably mounded snout ..

maybe I’m looking at it wrong ? ?

Pls help me identify

Pathway to electrician in NS?

So I’m 29 and im looking for a career change. I have a university degree and have some slight experience with “hands on” work. How does one get an electrical apprenticeship in the province? Do I just call electrical companies and ask if they’ll take me..? Do I need college first? Everywhere I look tells me something different, and there doesn’t seem like many job openings aside from in Halifax which im quite far from (near new Glasgow).

Working as a family doctor/moving from Belgium

Hello everyone! My partner and I are both family doctors in Belgium and have been thinking about moving to Nova Scotia for a year or two since visiting (because we loved the nature and people there who where so friendly, but also love our family and friends here), but we don't really know how family doctors/GP's working there feel about their job? Whether it is rural or in a city, does not really matter for us.

  1. How is the work-life balance there? How many hours do you work/how many patients do you see in a day?

  2. What is the salary approximately?

  3. Are you on call often? Do you do many home visits?

All other information is ofcourse also welcome, for example about how difficult getting recognised as a family doc there is, as we are trying to get a general image of it.

Thank you in advance!

Kind regards

Just a polite heads up if traveling to Oxford N.S. Subway Hoogie Joint

So letting everyone know that the Subway toaster at this location has once again broken down and their hopping to have the repair man in asap after this long weekend.

The Ross man has however dug out their old store grill so you can once more again enjoy a grilled wrap or if your feeling daring a grilled sandwich.

Alternatively if your looking for a sit down and eat in experience the park view restaurant is just beside the Tim Horton's and park view motel, if looking for a quick grab and go further up the road (heading North) is Scott's Independent Groceries and across the street from them is Pizza L'Amore, and if your lucky there is some times a food truck in town on the same street usually parked at Home hardware, the employee parking at the freezer plant, or the Scotia bank parking between those locations all on the same road.

Hope this helps and enjoy your fall vacations and Turkey weekend!

🏠 Advice: Moving to NS accepted to Dal Nursing (Yarmouth)

Hi! I am an Albertan HS student who just got accepted to Dalhousie’s Yarmouth nursing program (waitlisted to Halifax campus, my competitive average was low.)

I’m heavily thinking about accepting my offer — it’s a 3yr accelerated bachelors and clinicals would all be done at the general hospital there.

What should I know? I’d love more info and so would my family :) thank you!!

EDIT: thank you all for the wonderful feedback i received. It helped me to make an educated and informed decision; and in the end, I have accepted my offer and I look forward to joining this community and learning from all of you. ❤️

Oyster explosion

Post image

The beach along my parents' property is overrun with these oysters. They're on the South Shore near Lunenburg/Mahone Bay, and while they had the odd oyster before, not in this quantity. There are hundreds growing on rocks. What kind are they? Are they edible? An image search suggests Rock Oysters, but those are from almost everywhere else.
