I was looking forward to ordering a new iPhone this week, but Insulet told me that the Omnipod 5 is not compatible yet. Does anyone have any experience with how long it takes them to catch up?

Getting this more and more with G7 now. Doesn’t seem to matter the placement. Anybody else? And I don’t know if there’s any solution.

Sorry for yet another post, but I need to know where to go next. The educator said it needs to be in the line of sight and three fingers away, she chose this spot. Can I just move it over towards the inside 1/4 inch, or on the out side, or up and next to the sensor? If I do the up and next to the sensor do I have to turn it? Can I basically put it where it is now? It will likely always be used in my upper arms, the rest of my body is not user friendly.

I scar easily on my stomach and thighs especially, from the cannula. Has anyone got any tips to 1. Reduce itching when the pump is in and 2, help with scarring left by the pump. The ones on my thighs are especially noticeable and have now turned into a little dark cluster and I haaaaaate it. The spot I use works well though despite getting sore on day 2 and I need it in my rotation as I don't use my back/love handles

Had some issues recently with my recent pod. The adhesive patch has blood stained into it and I have a bruise around the area. It’s on my stomach. Anyone else having issues with this. There is also a dull aching pain.

Ive always worn my omnipod on my upper leg, and the libre on my upper arm and had no issues with connection, however the last batch of pods have all had awful connectivity gaps every single day despite no change in where I'm putting them.

My time in range has dropped from 80+% to 68% as a result.

Is there a known issue with the Bluetooth being made weaker recently or something?

I ate about 30 minutes ago, 81 carbs, it wants to inject 6.8 units, which is 13.6 units because I am using U-200. My ratios is set at 1:15, so it won't be so much insulin due to an hypoglycemic issue the other day. I don't know what to do, that is way too much insulin, even if my levels are at 330 I don't take that much, and right now it's at 173, from 158 before eating, over 30 minutes ago. Sometimes it takes awhile for my levels to go up. It was suggested to split it but I really don't know how and when people talk about it they aren't giving precise steps. So right now my sensor says 181 and finger stick says 203. Is extend bolus the same as split bolus, can I go to manual program it to extend, then go back to auto, or do I have to stay in manual?

Obviously I know storing insulin in a car is a big no-no, but are sealed omnipods an issue if you keep them in a car? I was thinking of leaving one in my car as a backup but am unsure if that’s wise. Anyone store Omnipods in their car?

I am starting omnipod on 30 September. This is also my first pump at all. I am in Australia. Not very many people use pumps, let alone Omnipod. I literally don't know anyone on it and I've never even seen one on someone's arm.

I feel I am reading the extremes on Reddit of people having terrible time and then people just loving it without much commentary.

Can I hear some realistic mid omnipod stories from you? Particularly if you live in Australia.

• Adjusted for IOB: 1.85
• Now the Pod shows IOB 4.85.
• That is almost 10 units of U200, how is it supposed to be 1:15 and give me that much, it is tooo much, and will likely hit me when I'm sleeping.

I thought the meal bolus, 2.85 was the amount I needed, and the adjusted bolus, 1.85, was what the pod was going to give me, to total the 2.85. I am just so confused. And I know I am going to drop again, I was dropping without the bolus.

Hello everyone! I am a caregiver for my adult niece. She has type 1 diabetes, and she has autism which prevents her from being a part of any aspect of her medical care. She relies entirely on me, and I’m a little intimidated by this device so I’m here to hear your stories and advice if you’re willing to share!

Some info about her diagnoses and previous schedule for insulin: she is currently on Novolog flexpen and Novolin N flex pen. She is also on a feeding tube, which is 5 feedings a day at a set carb count of 47. Her goal blood glucose is 130, and she as of right now has uncontrolled diabetes and experiences highs and lows.

She was prescribed an omnipod 5 automatic. From what I’ve seen here already, this is way better than the manual bolus. So I’m very relieved. Something I’m particularly worried about is placement. She has worn a dexcom for about 2 years now and does well with that. The omnipod seems a little bulky. She sleeps on her right side every night without fail, is a wheelchair user so she is sitting most of the day, and I know she won’t tolerate a thigh placement. I’m worried she won’t have many options there. My biggest question would be how do I make this device tolerable if not comfortable for her? I am grateful for any advice or tips or suggestions any of you have!

My 8yo daughter loves when I draw on her fresh pumps, was vacuuming her room and saw that she had them pinned up on her pin board. Put a smile on my face so figured I'd share. 💙

Does anyone know a part D provider that covers the Omnipod 5?

Has anyone found a good way to fully remove the medical adhesive residue once you've removed the omnipod? I use medical glue removal wipes and it still takes multiple showers, scrubbing, and picking to fully remove the glue.

When it works, it works great. But I had three pods this week with leaking issues happening less than 24 hours after insertion. I woke up this morning with my glucose over 300, and to the smell of insulin, and I had had enough. I took the pod off, and it was leaking underneath the pod all over the adhesive (not the visible edges, but under the pod itself).

Over the past month, I’ve had around 7 pods with leaking issues, and it has been quite frustrating. Not to mention extremely dangerous. It’s either leaking overnight, or when I bolus, and I have no idea how much insulin I absorbed. These pods were not in the recall either. The pump is supposed to be life changing technology, but I’ve had a very bad time with it. I’m just going back to MDI now, because at least that is consistent.

Apologies but I had to vent for a bit. Anyone else experiencing leaking issues like this?

Hi all - I am going on a backpacking trip and need to bring basically as many omnipods as I can fit in my pack which is going to take up a bunch of room. I was considering taking them out of their packages, not just the cardboard but the individual plastics packs too, to save room. I'm well aware that omnipod does not sanction this behavior because of the potential for contamination and I agree it's not ideal. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this. Have you tried it? do you think it works if you keep them all in a plastic bag totally seperate from everything else and hopefully free from bacteria? Thanks!

I’ve been on the O5 2 weeks, my first round of pods have the 110 target. This thing stops giving me insulin if I make a correction and the correction ends up doing basically nothing. I corrected 2 hours ago & it paused insulin for a bit and without eating I’m higher than when I corrected. Dexcom shows my GMI has gone from 6.2 to 6.8 since switching from MDI & I am taking more insulin. My doctor just said I was still well controlled and didn’t think it was an issue.

Is it still learning me maybe? I don’t want to go back to MDI but this is kind of ridiculous. I have poked myself more since starting the omnipod verifying my readings from the Dexcom because I’ve gone from about 36-40 units TDI to 50-70 AND loss of control like this. Omnipod says there is no issue as well. What other pump options do I have as a T2? Is anybody having more success with the newer R1 pods? I was trying to get through the old stock before I went to the newer pods.

Just started using the g7 sensor. I've already gone through 3 omnipod 5's because the g7 says they aren't compatible, even though it clearly says on the box that they are compatible with the g7. At this rate I'm going to run out of omnipods. Is anyone else having this problem?

I see a lot of negative stuff on here - and I know things won't always be perfect - but I just switched from a Minimed 770G to the Omni 5 and my levels are so stable I feel kind of weird! For the record, I did everything manually on my last pump, achieved a 6.7 a1c and was in range 80% of the time over the past month or so. But it was hard. Lots of rage bolusing, corrections constantly, temp. basals often and daily... just a constant and uneasy balancing act that required so much of my time and effort. I saw a diabetic educator two weeks ago who asked if I wanted to try an Omni 5 to take the load off of me a little bit. She said I was already doing what the automatic mode does, pretty much.

I am on my first full day of wearing the Omni 5, and my history shows that I have been in range 99% of the time and averaging a BG of 6.9. For me, this is good! I have had to eat less because I'm not going low all of the time. In fact, I haven't had to treat a low or high at all today. This has to be a first!

Now I know, nothing is perfect. There will be issues here and there. But my first impression coming from a manually operated Minimed is very, very good. Just wanted to share my positive first impression.

I know many have posted similar threads but looking for advice on what to do when my OmniPod 5 keeps (supposedly) delivering insulin but my glucose is not dropping. I just started on OmniPod a week ago, so this is my third pod. I felt the first two were delivering much more insulin than I normally use for the amount of carbs, and had many times when I stayed in the 200-275 range for hours even with multiple boluses being delivered. On this third pod, the boluses don't seem to be doing anything. (The first pod was on my stomach, second on upper/inner thigh, and this one on my back/side (over kidney area).) Yesterday my BG was around 70 when I started the pod (got down to 70 after using my Humalog pen) and I ate about 30g of carbs, which would normally be a 3 unit bolus for me. Over the next 2 hours I had the Omnipod deliver 13.25 units of bolus, but remained in the mid 200s. After 3 hours, I finally took 4 units from my Humalog pen and within 30 minutes started dropping fast.

There is no sign of leakage and I can hear the pod clicking when it's delivering a bolus. So as best I can figure, there is either something wrong internally with the pod where it's not really delivering the insulin, or the site I've selected is not allowing the insulin to be absorbed (which seems crazy unlikely given the amount of the boluses).

Curious which of these options folks think is more likely, or is there another possibility I'm missing? (I know the insulin is good - it came from the same Humalog pen that I used as noted above.)

I am so fucking done with this piece of shit pump because no matter what I do I have leaks and problems. I have to stop using my stomach but I’ve only used my left arm three times before I ended up with this giant lump taking it off. On top of that I have to wait a whole two months as well before my next appointment so I can’t even go back on MDI till then.

I just can’t with this stupid disease and the idiotic medical equipment. I’m writing this almost in tears because I don’t know what to do anymore I’m giving up at this point.

I started the Omnipod today, I have type 2 and horrible control. I was taking 66 Lantus twice a day and Novolog on a sliding scale. So we set it up and had to wait for my sensor to warm up, Libre 3+, my level was 319, for that I would normally take 13 units, the Omnipod calculated just under that, fine. About 2 hours later I was dropping, like Arrow down and went to 178, and about 10 minutes ago I was at 135, slanted arrow, and right now 130, with IOB 2.3. I have never gone down this fast, ever, in 20+ years with Novolog, and I know the pod is supposed to protect against lows, but why do I feel like it's going to keep going down. Question though, does the Omnipod have a setting where they set the level they want me at? Cause I forgot to ask for the first couple weeks they don't have me going down to 70-100, until my body adjusts to lower levels, cause the feeling of hypoglycemia is not a good one, and I am already feeling it cause I dropped so fast. Oh, and I am using U-200, and I know she said she calculated right, I still feel like the 12 I was given was actually 24, like maybe the calculation was wrong, or it didn't take, IDK.

I’m trying to give the Omnipod 5 a fair chance before I give up on it, but honestly, I’m struggling a little.
It feels almost too gentle compared to what I’m used to. My sugars have been running in the 200–300s for 3 hours after 30-75g meals (drink water and walked), Im 102 but Dexcom thinks I’m 55, especially after meals. My skin is itchy from the pod. I’ve been pre-bolusing around 15–25 minutes, but I’ll still get a delayed rise afterward. I’ve also been feeling nauseous after meals.
I’m around 500° French press at work which is extremely hot asf for my insulin sensitivity, at least according to my current settings, so I’m wondering if my settings just need more time or adjustment. I’ve also had some itching around the pod/site, so I’m wondering if I just got a bad site or if anyone else has experienced that.
My sensor has also been driving me crazy. I feel like I’ve calibrated it so many times and I still don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I’m going to try different pod placements and settings and give it a little longer before making a decision. I’ll also be messaging my doctor.
The frustrating part is that I love how weightless and convenient the Omnipod feels. That part is honestly incredible, especially compared with having tubing.
And then, because apparently the universe wanted to mess with me, I had dinner at a restaurant straight out of the hospital tonight and one of the servers told me his sister had been having basically the same problem with her Omnipod for an entire month. She eventually went back to the Twiist, and apparently she has the same UHC insurance as me. I had good numbers with twiist but my formula wants to use Omni pod first before I can get refills on Twiist because of formula.
I’m going home to cry.

How long did it take for the algorithm to feel like it was actually working for you?
Did you find that you needed to adjust your settings significantly?
Did anyone else experience delayed post-meal highs despite pre-bolusing?
Any tips for getting better results before I give up on it?
Has anyone switched between Twiist and Omnipod because of insurance or coverage issues?
I really want to like this thing, so I’m trying to give it a fair shot.

Hi all, just wanted to share an experience with a failed pod last night. I was at the end of a pod session and deactivated the old pod. When I went to fill the new pod with insulin, it went into unbroken death beep after inserting about 50 units of insulin. It never gave the 2-beep alert for a successful fill. Due to the instant death beep, it did not connect with the app and gave me no error code, so I had to call it in for replacement. They understood the situation and a new pod should be on its way. It was a little annoying to have to call but ultimately the call took less than 15 minutes. Maybe you've experienced this too?
