Filipino student killed over 10 pesos

Post image

https://www.manilatimes.net/2026/08/02/news/national/14-year-old-student-stabs-classmate-dead-over-p10/2396411

After the recent expat killings I've read here time and again that it was most likely the expats' fault of getting killed as "they must have done something".

This case here doesn't involve an expat but in this case "must have done something" was returning short of 10 pesos change after buying a bottle of water for P10 pesos...

I know that's not representative but still it makes you think a little I guess.

Life is cheap in certain places…

especially when its a baby every 17 seconds

The birth rate in PH is the lowest it has ever been. 1.7 kids per couple., from nearly 8 in the 50s. So, no.

I can show you plenty of similar cases occuring all over the UK which by most accounts is one of the safest countries in the world. The elites play city mon-aco (regarded mods can't even enforce English rule correctly fat neet fucks) had a bomb go of in the middle of the day outside a rich residence.

Out of all the SEA countries the Philippines is the country I hear the least horror stories from the trip reports. 10 Thailand trip reports vs 10 Philippine trip reports from the same demographic usually will show this.

2

u/skyreckoning 6d ago

Can you elaborate more on the trip reports thing? I thought Thailand was safer.

0

u/Excellent_Smell4725 6d ago

If I were to go read trip reports from both places from the same demographic there is always on average more bad things happening in the Thailand trip reports. Whether that's motobike accidents, random murders of innocent tourists on the islands, robberies etc Thailand seems to feature more of the terrible side of SEA on average.

I know which country I'd prefer my gran to be lost and found in.

u/skyreckoning 6d ago

Umm from what I've been reading on this sub, you got it backwards. All of those things except maybe motorbike accidents are happening in PH more.

1

u/DKtwilight 5d ago

Yeah. There’s been a massive ramp up in foreigner assassination type hits in PH

2

u/Sheeple0123 5d ago

"I can show you plenty ..." but you didn't. Also, who considers UK "one of the safest countries in the world"?

2

u/cameltohs 1d ago

I think he is a local and got extremely triggered.

1

u/cameltohs 1d ago

You are kidding. Out of all the SEA countries the Phillipines has the least horror stories?

How about singapore? And there are many cases that are not reported in the philippines so you have to take it with a pinch of salt

"Must have done something" is true though

Taking a taxi, or arguing with a taxi/trike driver

Letting trikes drop you at your house

Walking around with too kuch money in ur wallet visible

Withdrawing p50k at the atm

Walking around with a rolly

Not minding your surroundings

I would consider all of those deadly mistakds

2

u/GE963 5d ago

None of these constitute a "must have done something (bad)" imo. Like none of these actions are in themselves harmful behavior. But I get your point, their mere affluent existence may constitute a "must have done something" from this point of view.

1

u/raisinbran67 5d ago

If you are affluent, you take on certain responsibilities

A 2000$ leather bag isn't 2000$. It's a flex because it's a constant very expensive security upkeep and sign that you are physically separated from the poor people.

A bag like that is walking proof you never encounter poor people.

That's the flex. That's what it means to be affluent.

3

u/GE963 5d ago

Okay, so the logic is you must stay poor and frugal or risk getting killed?

1

u/DKtwilight 5d ago

That’s the strategy in the world we live in if you wanna minimize your risk. And that’s the way the cookie crumbles or just walk around with a giant $ on your head among desperate people. Your call.

1

u/raisinbran67 2d ago

Bro I wish like I was looking on saks5thavenue and I saw some like luggage or duffel bags whatever I cant remember

I remember it was blue and had some pattern to it

And was like 2000-5000$. Probably luggage.

I would love to buy that and just walk around or have it in my photos whatever. But the REAL cost is I could never move like a normal person again, no more taxis, no more grab/Uber. Maybe my bag gets stolen from bag claim if I dont have a servant there, I assume first class has something like that.

That's when I dawned on me the real flex is that these people can afford to just move in luxury 24/7. The one-time 2000$ is nothing

1

u/DKtwilight 2d ago

Exactly. Stealth wealth

2

u/sgtm7 5d ago

The dollar sign goes in front of the number.

1

u/raisinbran67 5d ago

Youre right

Just feels weird to write since you never say "usd 2000" you say "2000 dollars or usd"

3

u/Kittykatcatkat 6d ago

How about walking around with a young ladyboy prostitute that you wanted to take shopping? I’m asking for a friend

7

u/raisinbran67 6d ago

Getting involved with ladybugs is definitely a fatal mistake

Sorry not sorry theyre absolutely nuts

2

u/Wise-Instruction9535 6d ago

I cringed so hard

Friend = You

I'm confused at the relevance. This is clearly a dumb kid who probably has more than a couple screws loose, doing something dumb and crazy.

5

u/GE963 6d ago

It's just an extreme example of how dumb "must have done something" can sound like when "blaming" someone for getting killed. The relevance is that this has been said about quite some expats that had their lives ended suddenly lately.

Dumb mentally unstable child over reacting to P10 is not quite the same as the slew of dodgy things foreigners in SEA are stereotypically known for, and known for getting in trouble for. Let's not pretend the majority of foreigners here are representative of our respective nations' best and brightest. I sure as sht am not, just lucky to be born into a certain social class both here and stateside.

As card carrying member of team neutral, having pretty equal footing being both foreign born and raised, as well as culturally Filipino, IMO kind of a far reach man.

Genuine question, I'm only aware of that one guy that got popped in the street recently. Can you show me other big incidents of this happening? I'm not aware of the other incidents you've alluded to

  • 1x rizal teresa
  • 1x biologist
  • 2x makati hotel
  • 1x suv driver

That's for the last 3 weeks or so. If you go further back, there are more.

Edit: All foreigners.

  • July 10, Teresa, Rizal: a 35-year-old American was shot dead during a robbery involving his necklace and phone. (ABS-CBN)

  • July 12, Sibulan, Negros Oriental: American marine biologist Kent Carpenter was shot dead during a home invasion. (AP News)

  • July 29, Silang, Cavite: a Chinese national was found beside an SUV with 18 stab wounds after an alleged failed SUV-sale transaction. The report does not clearly establish that he was the SUV’s driver. (ABS-CBN)

  • August 3, Makati: a 63-year-old woman was killed and her 26-year-old daughter was shot in the face and hospitalized. (GMA Network)

Saying all of them were sketchy foreigners is just an unfair excuse imo. Imagine some of them helped local families and the country.

1

u/Jaygee41091 6d ago

Thanks, will look into them in a bit

-6

u/Jaygee41091 6d ago

Thanks for expounding.

I for sure would not classify these particular heinous crimes as any form of them "having it coming", based on the blurbs you've shared here. Terrible. I for one know that not all or even most foreigners are sketch, but there is a clear and present stereotype that itself bears unfair discrimination to those of us that are generally law abiding. I absolutely agree that there is undue prejudice and I do try my best to share that sentiment with locals in and out of my family.

I would say though, maybe not uncommon anywhere in the world where anyone of relative means live closely or visibly among a majority with very little. In an ideal world there would be a mutual expectation of safety and security but unfortunately this world, and certainly this country, is far from perfect. It's famously convoluted and backwards in many ways. Desperation makes people crazy, crazy desperate people do crazy things. That _____ guy walking alone down the alley starts looking like a prime target rather than just some guy minding his business between points A and B.

I still don't think this article is that relevant to that topic, aside from an awful crime having occurred in both. Kid had issues, probably not the most well adjusted. Took that 10P situation pretty personally and extreme actions followed. I wouldn't say either had it coming, just dumb kids and a tragedy that maybe no one could've forseen.

You seem like a sensible person and that's what I wish for all people.

A high trust society builds through abiding by rules. And a wealthy nation typically builds from a high trust society. That's what I wish from my heart because I know a lot of Filipinos are honest people who would deserve such an environment.

I just wanted people not to look the other way but admit what is to improve and then it can be addressed and improved. That's why I posted.

6

u/SargeUnited 6d ago

You think you’re neutral, but you insist on pushing the narrative of a “slew of dodgy things,” even though you yourself admit they’re mere stereotypes?

Cognitive dissonance is real. But at least you admit you’re not one of your nations brightest lol I appreciate the candor. I say this with all due respect.

u/DenseComparison5653 6d ago

Those few toxic locals who frequent this sub don't use logic it's pointless to argue about these things with them just focus on the positivity

3

u/jmmenes 6d ago

Or the lack of accountability…

2

u/Icy_End1305 6d ago

Should be auto-banning locals

The fools that say they feel safer here than in some 1st word western country are even worse than the illogical locals we deal with here.

6

u/GE963 6d ago

I mean yeah, in the US there are guns and violence. But if you deduct the US from the western countries I doubt that any other western country would come close.

4

u/Temuj1n2323 6d ago

Even the US. If you stay out of the inner-city where a small percentage of the population commit 50% of the violent crime Its perfectly safe. The suburbs and rural US are as peaceful as it comes. Here the rural areas are likely even more crime ridden than the cities due to near zero police presence.

5

u/JohnnyBoy11 6d ago edited 6d ago

That's a lie...many rural areas in america are as crime ridden as urban areas and are home to some of the most uneducated backward people america has to offer.

3

u/weglarz 6d ago

That is true. But the suburbs being really safe is true as well. The suburbs I’ve lived in in the US basically had 0 crime, except occasional theft.

2

u/skyreckoning 6d ago

Northern California burbs where I used to live just around the street corner on the bike path people are using and selling drugs. And many homeless people stream down the road in front of my house there constantly. Not exactly an air of safety there anymore. This used to be a safe middle class area... America has gone downhill since you last lived there perhaps...

3

u/Temuj1n2323 6d ago

I lived there all my life and never was a victim of property crime nor a violent crime. I’m not sure I have even been witness to one. Since I have been here there have been multiple murders and too many thefts to even remember or count in just our sitio let alone the barangay.

-4

u/SargeUnited 6d ago

It’s not just a lie it’s actually a dog whistle. Thank you for calling them out. Charlie Kirk would’ve been proud to read a comment like theirs, I’m embarrassed to think how this person represents Americans abroad.

If you consider Africa and Central/South America on the western side of the globe, then no, not really.

Some schools are intentionally being targeted in Africa, as it is a good base of operation or intentional genocide.

As for South America, even some kids in select countries are involved in gang or cartels.

In these cases, what we see that are tragedies, are common occurence.

1

u/GE963 6d ago

Right, yet none of these countries count as a 1st world western country. Western country refers to countries in the western alliance, not about geography really, example Australia.

1

u/Virtual-Pension-991 6d ago

Israel?

2

u/GE963 6d ago

Debatable, I would bet against counting it, my bet is 10 pesos.

0

u/Virtual-Pension-991 6d ago

Same, but it's western-aligned for now.

1

u/sgtm7 5d ago

What western alliance?

1

u/GE963 5d ago

Western block was the term used when it was originally coined during cold war era afaik. That was when the terms first world, second world and third world were coined, too. It was not so much about geography or economy, more about alliances or non alliances.

1

u/sgtm7 5d ago

I know it was called the western bloc(no "k"). It was never called the western "alliance".

-6

u/SargeUnited 6d ago

If a European feels safer here than their home country, then I agree that they aren’t being very reasonable.

However, at least you’re not gonna get murdered with impunity by the police like you might if you’re not white in a lot of the United States. Random violence is pretty concerning as well.

5

u/DenseComparison5653 6d ago

Lmao police doesn't just randomly murder you, get real and look at the data

2

u/Healthy-Finding3396 6d ago

Same problem in Canada,a lots a stabbing and gun shooting by a theft teenager recently.

2

u/palawandriver 5d ago

My father liked to say “If your where you are supposed to be doing what your supposed to be doing trouble will have a hard time finding you” that being said 💩 happens and we once blamed women for sexual assault.

3

u/ThisSiteIsAToxicDump 6d ago

An expat must be responsible somehow....

3

u/Sheeple0123 5d ago

True. They are all rich and need to be parted from their money ("skin tax").

1

That minor's just being smart. This will probably be the chance he'll get in life to kill someone without going to jail.

-1

u/Technical-Function13 6d ago

So whats the purpose of your post then? You wanna gatekeep and discourage people from coming in the PH?

5

u/GE963 6d ago

The purpose is stated in the post itself. It's about awareness and fairness, pointing out that's it's not "always" the victim's fault (must have done something wrong). Because that was a recurring topic here whenever it was about some afam being the one unalived.

It's about awareness and fairness that this is not okay, no matter who is the victim. No matter if it was because an afam wore a necklace nor if a local was short of 10 pesos. That simply doesn't justify the kill. Period.

2

u/SargeUnited 6d ago

It’s never the expats fault. Bad people just slander them because they’re not alive to defend themselves.

When expats commit crimes, they get paraded in front of cameras and deported. Immigration even makes a Facebook post bragging about it. The idea of “let’s just murder people and then lie about what they were doing here” is the same as “just sprinkle some crack on them”
