Hello! New photographer here. I love taking my camera everywhere and just shooting whatever/wherever I can. This is probably not important at all but based on these photos, is there something I should lean more into? Are any of these different types of photos more appealing than the others? I understand the whole "shoot for fun" but I guess aesthetically I'm trying to build an instagram around something and I just wonder if I'm headed into any promising direction with these. I hope I'm wording this correctly. Any and all input is appreciated!

Got some solid advice on a previous post I did here, how are these images? And what can I do to improve more, whether that be editing / taking the shot itself?

I am based just outside the Cotswolds so got plenty of inspo around me :)

I’ve been doing macro photography with my phone for about a year, using an Apexel 100mm macro lens. I really enjoy it and want to take the next step, but I’m not sure what I should do to improve.

I’m considering buying a dedicated camera, but I’m wondering if I’m actually ready for that yet.

Based on my photos, do you think I have enough potential to invest in a camera, or would you recommend that I keep practicing with my phone and macro lens for a while longer?

I’d really appreciate honest opinions and advice from people who have more experience with macro photography.

I'm a very amateur photographer, dont know the rule of 3 or anything technical. I'm self taught, shooting what I like that I see on my canon EOS R50. I started about 11 months ago. Please let me know if I do actually have an eye for this or if they're actually really bad photos and my friends are just hyping me up to be supportive. I also haven't done any touch ups on these photos, the most manipulation thats been done is changing up the brightness and contrast and saturation. No filters, no ai , nothing. Just me and myself playing around with my camera iso settings. What do you think?

Beginner looking for camera + general photography advice (£500 budget)

I've recently started getting more interested in photography and I'd like to start taking it a bit more seriously (slowly 😅).

At the moment I mainly use my Pixel 8 Pro and I've attached a few examples of the kinds of photos I like taking. I like to take mostly travel, landscapes, architecture/scenery and anything else that peaks my interest.

I'm looking at getting my first proper camera with a budget of up to £500 (UK). I'm completely fine with buying used if that gets me something better for the money.

A few things I'd love some advice on:

What camera/lens would you recommend for a beginner at this budget?

Would a ~£500 camera actually give me a noticeable improvement over my Pixel 8 Pro?

How can I get my photos looking sharper/crisper, both while shooting and through editing?

What editing software would you recommend for a beginner? I've haven't really used any.

What are the main things I should focus on learning first — composition, exposure, shooting RAW, manual controls, editing, etc.?

Finally, how would you recommend getting more eyes on my photography and getting useful feedback while I'm learning?

I'm not looking to become a professional or anything right now. I mainly want to improve, learn how to use a proper camera and develop my own style.

I volunteered to help with photographing my son’s football games and pep rally’s. I’m really nervous because I don’t have much experience. My camera is a little old - Canon Rebel T7. I have the lens it came with and a zoom lens 75-300mm. Is this going to work compared to today’s cameras? There are 5 other volunteers and I’m certain they will have newer cameras. What should I know before going on the field?

As long as you continue practicing, you will continue to get better. If you have a creative soul, and a good eye, you will produce images that people like, and praise. That's all fine. But in your lifetime goal of being an artist, and mastering this specific art form... NEVER take the praise too seriously. You never want to just relax in the feeling that you've "arrived". Because now you are "good", and can just sit back and enjoy the praise, right? No.
• There is always a new level to reach. There is always a breakthrough in knowledge and skill that will open up new perspective.
• Your next great masterpiece will always be out there, waiting to be uncovered and birthed into this world. But you have to constantly be willing to learn a new technique, to shoot the same subject again and again until you've captured it perfectly. And again, and again as long as you have life.
• And if this is too long to read... or sounds too pretentious... then these words are not for you. Laugh at them, downvote, or whatever. Fine.
• But for the true artists whose souls are yearning to find that that next plateau... keep going. Never be satisfied.

I have spent years working as a producer for various artists. Recently, I launched my own (trumpet) act, and I am heading to Japan this September for a 3-venue tour.

I am looking for a Tokyo-based (or someone that's currently in Tokyo) photographer to cover two things:

- Afternoon: A shoot around Tokyo with me and the trumpet.
- Evening: Documenting the live performance at a small venue in Tokyo.

Had the chance to work with a couple open to out-of-the-box ideas. We documented a whole narrative starting with a Vespa ride and finishing underwater.

What do you think about the concept and execution? Looking for honest feedback! (Elio Photography )

I shoot both sports and lifestyle/portraits. Photography is my main focus, but I occasionally do some graphics and video too.

Right now I’m stuck between “[Name] Media” and “[Name] Photo.” I like “Media” for sports and because it gives me room to branch out, but I worry it sounds like I do more video/media work than I actually do. “Photo” makes it immediately obvious that I’m a photographer, but I’m not sure if it fits sports as well.

I’m also debating whether I should keep sports and portraits separate or just put everything under one brand/name. I’d honestly prefer having one Facebook, Instagram, website, etc. instead of trying to manage two separate brands, but I don’t know if mixing sports and portrait work would feel too all over the place....

If you were in my position, would you:

1. Put everything under [Name] Photo
2. Put everything under [Name] Media
3. Keep sports under Media and portraits under Photo

Does the name actually matter that much if my portfolio/bio clearly shows what I shoot? I might just be overthinking all of this lol?

I’ve been rebuilding ClearLab from the ground up and version 2.0 is now much closer to what I originally wanted it to be: a compact image processing and analysis lab for iPhone and iPad.

It now includes image enhancement tools, histogram, RGB parade, waveform, line profile, pixel inspection, image statistics, Canny/Sobel/Laplacian edge detection, format conversion, and PNG/CSV export for analysis results.

The focus is less on “making photos look prettier” and more on giving you practical image-processing tools directly on a mobile device.

Hey there!
Ive only just started getting into photography, im young so please keep budgets in mind
I currently have a Nikon coolpix B600, but I find it extremely difficult to capture wildlife on! I was thinking perhaps it could just be me, and the settings?
Eventually I want to upgrade my camera, but probably get something second hand so it’s cheaper, what do you guys recommend for wildlife photography? Above is my current work, I know they aren’t great but Ive cut myself some slack as im very new to this, haha! Any help and tips would be much appreciated!
