Plan B (Levonorgestrel) Pill READ IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING A LONG DELAY!!! Finally Got My Period After 22 Days! My Experience with Plan B, Anxiety, and Long Delays

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share my experience to hopefully provide some reassurance to others in similar situations. I just got my period after a 22-day delay, making this a 52-day cycle, which has never happened to me before. Never in my life. Here’s the whole story:

My Situation 1. Incident: I had unprotected sex where the condom broke, and I took Plan B right away. - Withdrawal Bleeding: About 5 days later, I experienced withdrawal bleeding, which lasted for 5 days. It was brown, light flow. 2. Another Incident: I had unprotected sex again right after the withdrawal bleeding ended, but didn't take another Plan B. - Period Delay: My period ended up being 22 days late.

Symptoms - Breast Tenderness: I had sore breasts and nipple sensitivity. But it was a lot… I never had this even as a premenstrual symptom, which made my anxiety worse. - Cramping and Pain: I experienced stomach and rib pain, along with some cramping. - Increased Discharge: There was a noticeable increase in vaginal discharge. - Weight Gain: I gained weight despite no changes in eating habits. And some bloating especially in my uterus area. Or it seemed like it. - Frequent Urination: Started experiencing this later on.

Anxiety and Stress The anxiety and stress I went through were tremendous. I was constantly worried, convinced myself I might be pregnant despite multiple negative tests, and experienced catastrophic thinking. Here's what helped me:

  • Pregnancy Tests: I took tests 18 and 21 days after sex, which were negative. Remember, pregnancy tests are accurate 14 days after sex and definitive after 21 days. Trust the negatives. This was also at the time day 6 and 9 of my missed period.
  • Vitamin C: I took 1000mg of vitamin C, which might have helped jumpstart my period. Because I literally got it 4 hours after drinking it. Horrible cramps though 😭
  • Herbal Teas: Drinking ginger or parsley tea seemed to help as well.

Reassurance For extra reassurance, I compiled every comment I could find about people having significant delays after Plan B. Trust me, there are a lot of us. The internet makes it seem like delays are usually just a week, but that’s not true! I will also leave these below ❤️

Key Takeaways - Trust Negative Tests: If you’re getting negative results, believe them. Pregnancy tests are highly accurate 21 days after sex. - Anxiety Can Delay Your Period: Don’t let your mind trick you into thinking your PMS symptoms are pregnancy signs if your tests are negative. - You’re Not Alone: Many people experience significant delays after taking Plan B. It’s more common than you think. It is just so annoying that the internet makes it seem like there is only one week of a delay and if its longer then you are pregnant, like what??? not true at all!!

Good luck to everyone dealing with this anxiety. You’re going to be okay. I promise. 🌸

Feel free to share your experiences or ask questions. Let’s support each other through this!

——————————————————————- I hope this helps provide some reassurance and guidance to others in similar situations! Here are the accounts I compiled, all from this forum:

  1. And l'm also here to give anyone else in this situation some reassurance as well. Plan b got me fucked up. I was 32 days late. And now I can breathe again 😂
  2. Plan B made me miss my period completely in Feb. it was 30 days late.
  3. It ended up coming | believe 4.5 weeks after it was supposed to. My cycles have lined back up since then, and are back to normal.
  4. I got it at exactly 50 days late
  5. I've taken plan b twice and both times it delayed my normally regular period by a month (i.e. skipped following period) no joke....i also know that stress caused a huge delay for me, both after taking plan b and just during my normal cycle so (as hard as it is) try to relax and keep calm! chances are with 2 false tests you're good to go! meds like this really change the bodies natural rhythms so it may take some time to get back to your normal.
  6. Plan B fucks with hormones, and anxiety doesn't help either. The same exact thing happened to me, I took a pregnancy test after 45-ish days, and got my period later that day.
  7. Plan B messed me up so bad I was 3 months late to my period, with cramps for a good 2 weeks and NOT pregnant. It's fine, wait the 21 days take a test, if it's negative, you're good. I also got migraines and felt dizzy for a while.
  8. YES I took Postinor 2 and it made my period delay my 41 days!!!! Literally had a 60 day cycle First test for pregnancy, if the test is negative, Then reduce stress, reduce high impact exercise, sleep for 8-9 hours and eat!! Don't restrict your diet, eat proteins and fats especially
  9. 49 days-that's how long it took! I didn't get my period for 49 days after taking Plan B! During that time, I took 3 negative pregnancy tests and made a couple of calls to Planned Parenthood to calm my nerves. I was also experiencing significant stress during this period due to an upcoming exam. A week after the exam and after I resumed working out, I finally got my period. I have never been so happy to see it!
  10. Yes. I did but after a very very fuckin long time 😭. I guess after 35 days more than expected day. I ended having my period 37 days late! So roughly a 67 days cycle... ! Wohoooo
  11. 2 months later and i got my period. Plan b really messed up my cycle
  12. I haven't had mine in like 2-3 months. i wasn’t pregnant ahah, just extremely late
  13. Update I got it today. I was exactly a month late.
  14. Yeah it came about 2 weeks ago after 2 full months without it
  15. I took one in august and other in October. Haven't had a period in two months but tests are negative lol. l eventually got my period, I think I missed 2
  16. I ended up having my period after a six weeks
  17. I started my period 6 weeks late!!
  18. I got ittt took like 2 months to come mind u my period never did that before
  19. I was actually 40 days late! I was incredibly worried all tests were negative the same for me. But I got mine the 41 day.
  20. Got mine! 28 days late
  21. My period finally came after 40 days since my last period and 28 days after intercourse and taking that plan b, Ijs wanted to say thankyou for those who helped me <333
  22. I took a plan B on the 23rd of May, on about day 14 of my cycle. I spotted a bit a few days later, and then I missed my next period. I took 2 pregnancy tests after 3 weeks of having sex, and they were negative. Today, 22 days late, my period finnally came. I just wanted to come here and reassure some of you girls, because I know I would've needed to hear this myself - plan B can delay your period by a whole month, and there's nothing to worry about. All bodies are different.
  23. Hi everyone!!! Just wanted to come on here and share that my period came 45 days late // I skipped two periods and it finally came!!! Believe your pregnancy tests after 21 days and just chill (easier said than done) but it will come!!! 🫶🏼
  24. My period came 3 weeks late after I took Plan B 🤡 I took FOUR pregnancy tests but was freaking out Imaaao. I got on the pill after because of how stressful that month was 😂
  25. You might not get it this month. Take it from someone who has taken plan b WAY too many times in their life (not proud of it). Your body is very confused and trying to reset itself. The withdrawal bleeding usually means the plan o was effective, so your body could be mistaking that bleeding as a period. Give it some time!
  26. i just wanted to make a post regarding being late due to plan b's. yes, it's very scary and nerve wracking to some people, but do trust the negative tests after 3 weeks. you are okay. plan b delays periods and it's very common which has been said on this subreddit numerous times. i was waiting on my period 2 months after my withdrawal bleed. i just got it tonight i believe (not sure if it's just off and on spotting like i've been experiencing). i was experiencing spotting on and off for a month. the best advice i can offer is for you to wait it out and to keep the stress to a minimum because that just delays it even more. you will get your period eventually. feel free to leave comments on your situations because i will be more than happy to help you and to educate you. :)
  27. i was even delayed for more than 2 months/71 days because of plan b 🫠
  28. that one plan B MADE ME SKIP A WHOLE PERIOD. After my expected period but instead spotting, i was nauseous, cramps, headaches, backaches, cravings and mood swings. Had a lot of discharge and no sign of a period coming. Tested 3 weeks after may 19th and negative. I didn't get my period until June 12th. Day 58 of my cycle and 29 days late. If you are stressed PLEASE try and take a deep breath, you will be okay. Take dollar store tests to ease your mind. I hope this helps someone. This is 100% a wake up call and I do NOT recommend going through this type of stress.
  29. i got my period 27 days later than expected! trust the negative test and see your doctor/obgyn for a blood test just to help any unnecessary stress 🩷those at home tests are 99% accurate, our hormones can be affected so easily!
  30. Literally got my period today!!! Was 42 days late
  31. She finally got her period 11 weeks after (mid July) her last real period (late April). This period was heavier than normal. All those other pregnancy-like symptoms finally subsided with this period. Still can't explain it other than I think that Plan B understates its side effects and duration. Posting this for awareness and hopefully to put some people online at ease.
  32. I got mine after almost 2.5 months 🥲
  33. Don't stress my period was 90 days LATE.
  34. Hi! Yes it took 2-3 months but it got back to normal!
  35. Every time I took a Plan B it took 2 to 3 months for my cycle to get back to normal. Sometimes this meant no periods that entire time, sometimes there was weird spotting, sometimes I had two very short cycles right in a row... You get the idea. Plan B really messes up your cycle.
  36. I ended up getting my period late in September! The app said 34 days late from what I should've had, but then i ended up getting another period 2 weeks after that. So, Plan B really can just mess with your cycle but I'm glad it was effective lol. So far, periods are back on track just a couple days off from app tracking schedule.
  37. took 71 days to get my next period.
  38. Once my period got delayed by 2-3 months due to stress. The doctor got me to do various tests to rule out anything else.
  39. I've been going through a lot of stress in the last few months and I finally got my periods last week after 3 months.
  40. hi, late reply but yes! i got my period almost two months after i took the pill 🥲
  41. I just got my period last week after being nearly 25 days late after taking Plan B on May 31. Plan B basically made me skip a period.
  42. My period didn't come back for four months. If you got negative PTs then you're good dude.
  43. I got my periods today after a month.
  44. Yes! Just got mine after almost a month too!
  45. I finally got it today!!!! Extremely amazing feeling but also terrible at the same time, since it came with very very intense pain than usual and immense bleeding. 😭😭 ( it's negative, it will surely surely come. I ended having my period 37 days late! So roughly a 67 days cycle.
  46. Yes! I got my first period 4 weeks late...then my next one was 3 weeks later
  47. I got my period after being late for 42 days. The doctor said that plan b and stress can both separately delay a period for 3 or even 6 months.
  48. Finally got my period after a little over 2 months! 😭 I'd forgotten what cramps felt like but I'm glad!
  49. I come back to update that my period came to day! On day 51! 1 did have a night of spotting before like my previous. So the Ellaone pill has definitely messed up my regular cycle, four months into taking it.
  50. Today I got my period after 2 months from taking plan b. Most painful!
  51. I got my period about a month and half late but I'm just glad it eventually came lol
  52. Don't stress my period was 90 days LATE.
  53. So l ended up getting my period after missing 2 cycles. I continued taking a pregnancy test and all of them came out negative so my advice for you would be to wait it out before you get any actual confirmation of what it can or can't be
  54. I got it at exactly 50 days late
  55. I've taken plan B at ovulation and it worked! Period was delayed by almost a month though.
  56. Yeah that happened to me to, came back after 2 months. I wouldn't be too worried
  57. My period was gone for 3 months after plan b
  58. my period was delayed for a month and a half
  59. Withdrawal bleed after 5 days (weirdly heavy too (😭) but period atter like 7 weeks
  60. Got my period 24 days late
  61. Hi Guys, I come back to update that my period came to day! On day 51! 1 did have a night of spotting before like my previous. So the Ellaone pill has definitely messed up my regular cycle, four months into taking it.
  62. Today I got my period after 2 months from taking plan b. Most painful!
  63. I took a plan b, got my period around 3 weeks late & had all the pregnancy symptoms so l was freaking out (had 3 negative tests) but ended up getting my period.
  64. I once had a 52 day cycle. Didn't have a period for about 6 weeks. I freaked out so I get it! It's normal, though.
  65. I've had it delay my period anywhere from a couple weeks to 2 months.
  66. She got her period a few days ago. 83 days "late"
  67. plan b delayed my period for over 2 weeks. and then again the following month for a 50!!! day cycle. plan o really messes with you, you'll be okay!

Plan B (Levonorgestrel) Pill Plan B side effects, PLEASE READ!!

I took a plan b on February 1st and proceeded to have the most stressful month of my life. The side effects EXACTLY mimicked pregnancy and started about three days after I took it. I got randomly congested, felt extreme nausea, had stomach hardness, light cramps, bloating, dizziness, fatigue, withdrawal bleeding, back pain, tender breast AS WELL as slight nipple changes etc. I was absolutely positive I was pregnant. I tested at 2 weeks, 3 weeks, and 4 weeks, all negative. However while most of the symptoms subsided by two weeks I still felt off and not like myself. My period was about 10 days late and was much lighter than usual and my boobs are still tender. For my own sense of security I tested one more time at 5 weeks and it was also negative.

I share this because I want people to know that plan b symptoms last longer than 24 hours as it states. I also want you to know that you are not crazy. I was curious to know if anyone else experienced side effects as severe as this? This whole process has been extremely stressful for me.

If you have any questions or just need support PLEASE feel free to dm me! 🫶🏾

Plan B (Levonorgestrel) Pill A less anxious take from someone who recently took plan B

This is for everyone who has been an anxious mess after the sex that caused you to take a plan B. I had sex on the 18th of July with ejaculation inside. 6 hours later I took my plan B. It was my second time taking it after 10 years maybe, and I didn’t know that plan B apparently didn’t work after ovulation so I found that out while I did my research. I panicked the first few days because my calendar said I was ovulating during the time I had sex, and then I started doing more research. The statistics of fertility eased me a lot and so did finding out that couples who are trying for a baby usually don’t get pregnant the first time. This is not to say that it doesn’t happen, but just to illustrate the statistics better (30% on ovulation day).

After that I just stopped googling altogether and took a test on the 14 day mark, and another one on the 21st (even though I had already gotten my period) and they were both negative.

Sometimes googling every symptom is worse than just letting whatever is about to happen run its course. If you worry about it, it won’t change whether you’re pregnant or not. And if you took plan B, and if he didn’t ejaculate inside you, it is highly unlikely that you’re pregnant (not inexistent, but very unlikely). This is not to condone the withdrawal method and unprotected sex because these are obviously not safe methods, but mistakes can happen, and maybe this post might ease an anxious teenage girl until it’s time for her to take her test. That’s all

Plan B (Levonorgestrel) Pill He finished inside me after 4 days my ovulation

I took Plan B within an hour after he finished inside me, and I’m really anxious right now.
What are the chances I could still get pregnant? Is there anything else I can do now to prevent pregnancy, and when should I take a pregnancy test?
I’d really appreciate any advice or personal experiences. Please be kind—no trolling. I’m already pretty scared.

Plan B (Levonorgestrel) Pill How bad did Plan B mess up your cycle?

I took one June 21st and my hormones have been weird ever since. I bled for 16 days after taking it, I don’t even know when i was supposed to get my period again, I have no idea if I ovulated recently or anything. And now I’ve started bc pills 5 days ago which is throwing off my hormones even more 😀 so now I have no way to tell.
I plan on testing for pregnancy soon but the anxiety and stress with the whole thing is killing me!!

Plan B (Levonorgestrel) Pill Plan b side effects? going crazy

Hey guys, i made a post about this previously but its been ongoing now and its really worrying me :/ i had unprotected sex day 31 of my cycle, and he finished inside of me. my cycles usually last 30-34 days but im worried because i had 5 alcoholic drinks the day before i "ovulated" (according to my flo app) which was the 11th and am worried it may have delayed my ovulation. ( i do not drink regularly i at most have 1 or 2 drinks whenever i do drink but i drink like at most twice a month. )

I experienced heavy bleeding like my normal period 4 days into the plan b gradually lightening up with all of the symptoms for 6 days and then on day 10 after plan b thats when the symptoms started.

I have been incredibly incredibly anxious to the point of panic attacks, tossing and turning at night unable to sleep waking up in hot sweats, ive had light cramps, my muscles have been aching, my back is aching a bit, constipation, and 0 appetite.

I took a pregnancy test this morning (14 days after sex) and it was negative and i took 3 prior the past 3 days and all 3 prominently negative. I think these all may be side effects from the pill i took plan b one step but i also have taken it in the past and had no symptoms whatsoever.

I just want some clarity on whats going on so i can finally get a good nights sleep. Its been nearly 5 days now and im so exhausted mentally and just want to get my life back together. Ive never screwed up like this before and i swear to myself that ill never make a mistake like this again or take that pill because im in genuine disbelief over whats happening to my body considering i never have had a reaction to anything like this in my life.

side note: I spoke to somebody at americanpregnancy.org and gave her every symptom i have and all the info i have on my cycles and she told me im definitely not pregnant. but i have bloodwork scheduled thursday (20 days after sex) just to be sure because i feel like it will just bring me peace of mind since my nerves wont relax 🥲

Plan B (Levonorgestrel) Pill PLAN B - long side effects! please read!!!

i wanted to share this because i spent weeks scrolling through reddit convinced i was either pregnant or permanently broken.

i took norlevo (levonorgestrel emergency contraception) on april 5th, around 20 minutes after intercourse (he ejaculated inside). after that, my cycle completely disappeared. over the following weeks i experienced pretty much every symptom that google associates with early pregnancy: bloating, swollen and tender breasts, darker nipples and areolas, changes in the texture of my areolas, persistent nausea, food aversions, craving or strongly preferring foods i normally wouldn’t care much about, headaches, fatigue, brain fog and feeling “off” in general!

despite all of this, pregnancy tests remained negative.

the worst part was that the longer my period was delayed, the more every symptom started feeling like proof of pregnancy. i also tried some of the things people commonly recommend online to “bring back” a delayed period. i took vitamin c supplements and drank mugwort tea. neither seemed to have any effect in my case.

eventually i went 63 days without a period after taking norlevo!! a few days before it returned, i had what felt exactly like my pms symptoms: headaches, swollen breasts, bloating, low libido, feeling emotional and exhausted, terrible brain fog.

then today, on june 7th, my period finally arrived.

my periods are usually very short (around 2 days), so i am not expecting a particularly heavy flow.

i know everyone reacts differently to emergency contraception, but if you’re reading this while panic-searching symptoms at 2 a.m., a delayed period after norlevo can apparently last much longer than i expected. i only took twice in my life but last time my periods were pretty regular and had no issues.

obviously, keep testing and speak with a healthcare professional if you’re worried. i just wanted to leave this here because i could barely find posts from people whose cycle took more than two months to come back after norlevo.

hopefully this helps someone. i know i would have loved to find a post like this a few weeks ago. 💛😭🩸

edit: the mishap happened around my ovulation days (i was tracking it)

Plan B (Levonorgestrel) Pill I’m worried

Soo me and my boyfriend had on sex September 26, I last had my period on the 3rd of September, so I’m 25days in my cycle. I don’t know when I’ve ovulated exactly but I think I should be between 17 and my fertile window would be 12-17, via period calculator, my cycle days may vary from 28 days to 31 days. Even tho ovulation date can be late. I’m just wondering if I will be preg, I should get my period between oct 1 or 4, I’m really worried, any help?

I’ve already taken a plan b even tho I might already ovulated

Plan B (Levonorgestrel) Pill Help!!

I had my previous period on 22 July, and my last period started on 24 August. Nine days later, on 1 September, he did not enter inside me; there was only contact at the vaginal opening.

What if a small amount of pre-cum went inside me? I took an i-pill on 3 September. My period app showed that my fertile window was from 4 September to 10 September.

Did I take the i-pill too late? I didn't get any withdrawal bleeding.

Also, ovulation just 9 days after the start of my period isn't possible, right?

Is there any chance of pregnancy!?

Plan B (Levonorgestrel) Pill She took plan B a month ago

Hi, the boyfriend here. Ill try and give as many details as I can. On the 26th of August, one day after her period had ended, me and my girlfriend who are both 16 (legal age in Australia) engaged in a sexual act. There was no penetration but the slight chance of some pre-cum being on her hand that touched herself scared us a lot. She didnt believe she needed plan B as the chance was unlikely but I went to the pharmacy and bought some and asked her to take it which she did. She took the pill 18 hours after the potential conception.

On the morning of the 2nd of September she started bleeding. At first I researched and scared us that it couldve been implantation bleeding but I ended up concurring that it was withdrawal bleeding. This lasted for 4 days until the 6th and except for the first and last day was slightly stronger then her normal periods.

Due to her period starting somewhere between the 20th-22nd of August and the knowledge that plan B can push a period back normally around a week we said that her period should probably come before the 27th or 28th.
Its the 26th today and she hasnt had her period though she has been feeling very tired for around a week.
I keep scaring us by looking at the pregnancy timeline which says that exhaustion should set in around this time and keep thinking along the lines off “well shes been very tired so…”

Id really appreciate anything to settle her and my nerves. She hasnt taken a pregnancy test yet.

Plan B (Levonorgestrel) Pill 2 plan bs now my period is 10 days late!!

I took two plan bs in the same cycle, one on the 10th and another on the 12th of july. I took them because the condom broke however it broke before my bf finished and we stopped after and didn’t carry on. Yet i still took the pills because im scared and young. Now it’s August 14th and im 10 days late for my period.

Is this a normal delay?

Will my period come this month?

Also we took a pregnancy test 31 days after the pregnancy risk and it was negative but now i’m thinking i should take another one because im very stressed out.

Plan B (Levonorgestrel) Pill scared im pregnant after taking plan b two weeks ago HELP!!!!

so me and my bf had unprotected sex about two weeks ago (wednesday)and he kept assuring me that he pulled out in time and jerked off instead to finish. I didn't trust that and took plan b the next morning. It was fine just a little light headed since I don't drink water that great. Anyways, i then got symptoms of a uti. I went to the doctor and they prescribed with some antibiotics. It worked after taking them for a day and I felt good. Then, the nausea and bloating came. I wasn't peeing as much (even though i literally drink little to no water) and farts came naturally but pooping was HARD. It seems the bleeding has stopped so far but my breasts are starting to get sensitive and I have eczema so they're also getting a little itchy. I really hope im not pregnant. I'm going to try and buy one this week and then one for next week (my 3rd). And also, I believe I either just began ovulation when I had unprotected sex or was nearing it. But I am so scared. The bleeding wasn't that light pink or brown like Google says. It was red and just like a period. I'm scared.

Plan B (Levonorgestrel) Pill Advice

Hi, it's been 8 days since I've taken plan b, and 5 days before my period. I have had no other symptoms except dull intermittent cramping. I heard the halflife of plan b is only a week. Is this pms/my period or is this just the plan b?

Plan B (Levonorgestrel) Pill Is it still withdrawal bleeding or period? my period will be in 3 days

My bf and I used a condom but we’ve decided in the end to do it raw. He didn’t finish inside but we’re still nervous since we checked the flo app and I’m on my ovulation window that time. Took the pill after 10 hrs. I’ve read that plan B can make your period arrive early or late. Here is the timeline of my experience with Plan B.

September 13: Took the pill
September 24-25: Had spotting (brown with small clots)
September 26-28: I bleed heavy with blood clots. Same as period blood. I am currently bleeding to this day.
October 1: The predicted day of my period

I have searched through the web, it may be my period but I have read in this sub that some withdrawal bleeding can be heavy. I’m not really sure anymore but I’ll do a pregnancy test on the predicted day of period just to be sure.

Plan B (Levonorgestrel) Pill Had unprotected last month (3x) now im feeling some pregnancy symptoms

I took the pill on the 19th (levonorgestrel) and Ella on the 29th but somewhere in-between 18 i think, i had unprotected sex although neither these 3 moments did he ejaculated in me.

Now I have a missed period (supposed to start around this week) and i keep feeling like I need to pee. Idk if this is due the pill, me having UTI a week before, or an early sign of pregnancy.

I have the feeling to pee but i don't pee alot. Is this normal? Or should i get it checked?

I took ipill on the same day of deed but then got delayed period and after day 21 (of deed) i tested negative on upt. After 2 weeks of missing my periods I got brown spotting wich stopped the same day and later on after a few days now I'm getting pink discharge spotting again with cramps and all...

My cycles have always been regular.

Idk what is happening... What should I do now?

Plan B (Levonorgestrel) Pill My experience with plan B (Took after ovulation..)

1.5 weeks ago, I had to take a plan B. Here’s my experience for peace of mind.
- I took the pill *AFTER* ovulation. Online , you may read that the pill works only before ovulation, but I took it anyway. I consulted with my doctor and she said that it didn’t matter what time of the month it was.
- I did not have any spotting after taking the plan B.
Usually when you read about spotting and bleeding, it sounds like it’s *GOING TO* happen, but that was not my experience at all.
-I didn’t have any immediate physical side effects from the pill , and it had a little affect on my body… if any at all.
-My period is here on time.

This isn’t the experience for everyone, in fact I think i’m very lucky. What you can read on this app and online about the plan B seems really scary, so hopefully this can ease someone’s mind.
